PAMELA, MUSA & GRACIE GAIYA
The Gaiyas are so thankful for a blessed Home Assignment. They deeply appreciate everyone who took the time to connect with them.
They ask that you continue to pray for Nigeria. Returning at the beginning of the #endbadgovernance protests saw them under curfew; thankfully things are peaceful and quiet again.
School has resumed for Gracie (Grade 9 – High School); pray for new students/families and members of staff who have joined Hillcrest School.
Pamela continues on sabbatical until the end of the year. Pray for wisdom as she works on rolling out her 30th anniversary project. Musa continues with his teaching in the ECWA Seminary at Kagoro and the Christian Faith Institute, Bukuru. Give thanks for good health.
Thank God with Samantha for her time at home in Northern Ireland. She and her family had a good time sharing about their work with friends, family and supporters.
Pray for Samantha as she starts a new school term, and reconnects with the students.
Pray that God would provide volunteers associates) for the work in Enugu; people who have a heart for God and a passion for young people and who are willing to work alongside the Ibia’s in this work.
MARK NIXON
Pray for Mark as he spends the next few months at home in Scotland. Pray that God will guide him in providing a clear vision of activities and meetings whist he is home.
Pray as Mark begins to apply for a new visa for returning to Nigeria. Pray that all plans and preparations for returning will go smoothly.
Pray for safety as Mark visit former students in India during October and November. Pray that this trip will be a time of refreshment.
Mark asks that you continue to remember Nigeria whilst he is home. Continue to pray for its steady economy.
Pray for a clear knowledge and understanding of Scripture from all involved in the college. Give thanks for the great joy as a result of the many outreach campaigns and meetings that are currently being held.
Praise God for the recent UEC Youth Camp held in August which saw 8 young people give their lives to Jesus. Thank God for the support from Mission Africa as Godwin was one of the speakers. Pray for these young teenagers as they begin their faith journey with Jesus.
Please pray for Ikot Ekpang Monthly Outreach on 13th September. Ask God to draw souls to Himself and strengthen believers through the preaching of His word and prayers.
Pray for Godwin as he preaches in UEC congregation in Calabar on 22nd September. Pray also for safety on the bad road to and fro.
Praise God for Gail’s time at home. Pray for her parents as they deal with the challenges of old age. Pray for Gail as she resumes at WWTC and prepares for the resumption of Saturday Kids’ Club. Pray also for the wide distribution of her recent book: Leaders of a Different Kind, and that God would use it mightily for the salvation of souls and the edification of His church.
Pray for Angel and her cousins as they resume school for a new school year.
KATIE MORRISON
As Katie starts a new chapter at home, she wants to thank everyone for their prayers and support during her time in Nigeria.
Katie asks you to continue to pray for Holley Memorial Hospital and Primary School and for all the young people that are currently being reached with the Gospel.
Give thanks for the short home assignment that the Morrisons had over July & August in Northern Ireland and England. They have now arrived back in Chad and are settling back in.
Pray for David as he takes on the new roles managing the TEAM office, station and guesthouse.
Pray for Lucy as she transitions back into Acacia and for wisdom in managing difficult situations.
Pray for Sophie and Olivia as they start back into school and childcare and for their transition back to French/climate after a fun home assignment.
Pray for Jeremy as he spends a few weeks in Burkina Faso at the beginning of September. The Association Gamaliel Conference takes place on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th September. Jeremy was unable to travel to Legmoin and hold the Dagara
Pastor’s Conference but is hopeful that God will open the way in His good time, perhaps even in the dry season early 2025 but the insurance company needs to allow this, so the foreign office travel advice needs updating!
Pray God guides both Rachel and I in the next step particularly in the jobs we hopefully get in October. Pray God is at work in and through their lives and that they glorify him to the utmost in ministry this year.
KATHRYN LINDSAY
The team of nurses are now into their last week in Kenya, pray that they will be a blessing to all those they come in contact with and for the Gospel to work in the lives of those they interact with. Pray too for safety as they fly home on the 7th.
Pray that as the nurses leave (the final team of the season) Kathryn would rest well - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Also that she won’t feel too lonely.
Pray for discernment and God’s guidance for Kathryn as she decides what to get involved with in this next season. Pray that more doors would be opened for children’s ministry and youth ministry. Pray too that an apartment in a good area will become available as Kathryn seeks to find somewhere more homely.
ANA VAN BRAKEL
Give thanks for the Bible College camp in Divo that Ana was involved in during the summer. There were over 500 children attending this camp and Ana was one of the camp speakers.
Pray for Ana as the new term at the college begins. There are lots of lesson plans and preparations to be made before the
classes start later this month. Ana will be teaching on Paul’s letters this semseter. Pray for both her and the students that she teaches.
Pray also for the Sunday school which Ana leads. She has been busy over the summer preparing lessons for the upcoming weeks. Pray that the children will be engaged and have a hunger for the gospel at such a young age.
Give thanks to God for the good conversations at the Keswick Convention and the Moray Coast Convention in Buckie.
Pray for those at both conventions who spoke to us about opportunities to serve with Mission Africa, that they would know God’s leading as they pursue His will. Pray for those who showed interest in the Child Sponsorship programme and took leaflets, that they would follow through to sponsoring a child.
Give thanks for the opportunity Robbie had to share at the Thursday morning meeting at Buckie and the responses that resulted from that. Pray also for the potential opportunities to connect with various churches as a result of these conventions.
Pray for Robbie as he plans for the next season.
Give thanks for all who spent part of their summer in Kenya this year. We had 40 people from various different backgrounds on our own summer teams, a church team from Highkirk Presbyterian, medical electives and a young family on sabatical. Pray for those who they were able to reach with the gospel, that their hearts were challenged and lives changed. The second half of Come See Go Tell will begin 24th September. Pray as the teams come together to reflect on their time away, that they will be excited to ‘Go & Tell’ about the work God is doing in Kenya.
Throughout July & August, Mission Africa were able to attend events and conferences across the UK, lead a seminar at New Horizon, a youth event at Summer Madness and share passionately about our work and opportunties. Pray for all who we came in contact with, that God will be stirring their hearts to get involved in mission, whether that is at home or further afield.
Pray for our Board as they meet together on 10th Setpember after the summer break. Pray that as they look to the future of Mission Africa, that God would be in the center of all their plans and preparations.
Remember Ashleigh Kelly as she is still adjusting to her new role in Mission Africa. Pray for her as she is currently makes all the necessary preparations for the upcoming financial audit.
Lauren & Catherine want to thank you for praying for their families over these last few months. There are still uncertain times ahead, but God is faithful! Keep remembering them in
your prayers.
