JUNE 2024
JUNE 2024
‘Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’ 1 Thes. 5:16-18
The Gaiya family are in NI for Home Assignment (June and July). Please pray for them as a family; pray for their connections and reconnections with family, friends and supporters; pray their time will be refreshing and renewing; pray for strength as they visit prayer partners in churches and prayer groups; pray for safety as they travel to and from various meetings.
Let’s cover this family with our love and prayers.
Join the Gaiya family for the Mission Africa June Celebration on Saturday 8th June in Belfast.
SAMANTHA, GODFREY, HEPHZIBAH & MELKI IBIA
Samantha asks for prayer for the students in the schools we’ve been visiting, that the relationships we are building will have a positive impact on their lives.
Pray also for open doors to share in
churches of what we are doing and to be able to get more volunteers who are willing to help. It’s not been easy to get into churches as we are not well known as an organisation in Enugu. Pray for a breakthrough.
MARK NIXON
Things to thank God for:
• A successful completion of the second semester of the regular school.
• A good weekend of outreach in the village of Ofache by the college students.
• The start of the new postgraduate year and the commencement of the summer school which is a very compact set of courses.
• Opportunities to go to villages on outreach recently
• Students successfully completing exams
Join Mark in praying for:
• An effective new summer school that will soon be starting.
• That students would finish this year well.
• Continued safety as Mark travels to various villages.
• That souls will be saved in the village outreaches over the next few weeks and months.
GODWIN, GAIL & ANGEL EKANEMThe Ekanems praise God for the monthly evangelism outreach to Ikot Ekpang Village. The last one was particularly encouraging. Pray for the next one coming up on 10th June.
Pray for Aniedi and Esther as they prepare for the 2 big days: the Traditional Marriage takes place on 13th June, while the Church Wedding and Reception take place on 15th June. Pray as it will be a busy time for all the family with lots of people around.
Pray for the UEC Rev. Ministers’ Retreat taking place in Abuja from 18th to 22nd June. Pray it will be a refreshing time for them.
Pray for the various ministries the Ekanems are involved in.
BRIAN WILSON
Brian Wilson is coming to the end of his period of service with Mission Africa. He is grateful to the Mission for the opportunity to serve God in PACT, to people and churches who have supported him, and to colleagues in PACT and in the Mission. His period of furlough brought opportunity to meet supporters and others, to serve PACT at a distance, to proclaim God’s Word, and to engage in other witness. Thank God for His care for Brian during Mission Africa service, for the renovation of the library at PACT, and that Hope is learning about the running of the PACT Library.
Pray that God will quickly lead Brian to the next sphere of Christian service.
KATIE MORRISONPraise God for the recent months as Katie worked in the office supporting the Mission in a finance role.
Pray for Katie as she prepares for an upcoming term in Nigeria towards the end of the summer.
Praise God for providing a fourth sewing machine and pray for the women as they learn to sew and make products to sell.
Pray as we prepare the business course to teach the women how to manage a small business well. It is the second time running this course, so it is still a work in progress.
David is still learning the ropes on the TEAM station. We are thankful for these handover times and we trying to adapt our family rhythms to facilitate this role.
Pray for Lisa, the gap year student with Acacia as she says goodbye to the ladies and returns to Germany after 10 months in Chad.
Pray for David as he leads a seminar on how to use the internet wisely for the young adults at our church.
Pray that the award’s ceremonies in Burkina Faso bring joy to the children and favour with the school and education authorities so that we have a welcome to do ministry next year. Pray for good results wherever we have run courses that God is glorified and his blessing recognised.
In Chad, pray for any remaining training sessions that I am able to run that they result in youth leaders being well equipped to run the relationships course. Pray these courses help in discipleship. Pray that God’s word takes precedence over tradition, that the dowry system is challenged and modified. Many young people live together before marriage because it takes years to earn the dowry.
Pray we walk close with God and are ready to respond in faith to whatever is next for us.
Please pray for Kathryn as she works on firming up the itineraries for teams and practical arrangements. Pray for Kathryn as she prepares for leading the women’s ministry team.
Pray especially that churches and other partners would get back to her in a timely manner to confirm plans.
Pray for Josh as he is spending his final 3 weeks at the hospital in Tumutumu. Pray that he will find support and that this elective experience will be lifechanging.
Praise God that Kathryn finally has an open door into 8 local schools and that she is now part of the planning team to organise speakers for these schools.
Anna gives thanks that the visa appointment has not been cancelled and that the response has been positive.
Please continue to pray regarding the situation at the College as most courses are currently cancelled due to the lack of funding.

Give thanks that there will be over 40 people travelling to Kenya and Nigeria this summer on medical electives and summer teams. The orientation and final session of the Come See Go Tell mission discipleship program takes place on the 8th June. Pray that God will be in the centre of all these plans and preparations and that He will be preparing the hearts of those travelling too.
This summer Mission Africa will be represented at Summer Madness, Kewsick Convention (England, Scotland and Portstewart), New Horizon and Bangor Worldwide. Pray that the Lord will bring us into contact with those He is leading and that through Mission Africa we can help people find their part in His mission.
