JULY/AUGUST 2024
JULY/AUGUST 2024
‘Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’ 1 Thes. 5:16-18
The Gaiya family thank God for the busyness of their Home Assignment during June. Reconnecting with so many prayer partners and supporters has been such a blessing. July will be a quieter month for deputation. Pray for physical and spiritual refreshment. Pray too for their return to Nigeria on 1st August.
SAMANTHA, GODFREY, HEPHZIBAH & MELKI IBIA
Samantha asks for pray for her time at home that it would be fruitful and that she would be able to meet with as many supporters as possible! Pray that time with family will be a blessing, especially for the children.
Pray for schools in Enugu who will be finishing for the summer on 3rd week in July. Pray as they finish another year and go on a break that all they have been learning will have an impact in their lives and in their family life over the break. Pray for protection over all of our students.
We continue to ask for pray for open doors
in churches to raise awareness for the work of Fellowship of Christian Students. Also for volunteers who can join us to be able to help build relationships with church leaders.
MARK NIXON
Join Mark in thanking God for:
• A busy and productive month of meetings.
• The Gospel of Jesus Christ being boldly proclaimed in Ankpa and surrounding villages.
• The successful completion of the First Semester of the Summer School.
• Good overall health.
• Continued outreach to neighbouring villages.
Join Mark in asking God for:
• That plans and preparations will all go smoothly for his final few weeks in Ankpa.
• Help for the meetings that are planned for the coming days and weeks.
• Strength for Mark’s co-workers.
• The successful completion of the school building in Ochaja by the very beginning of July.
• The opening ceremony for this building at the school, Fountain of Grace Academy, in the first few days of July.
• Continuing wisdom for a proposed school project in Akwu.
• Help for all those who are struggling because of the economic situation here.
• An awakening of the youth to serve Christ fully.
The Ekanems praise God for the successful marriage ceremonies of Aniedi to Esther. They thank God for his abundant provision, for the fine weather, and for the many people, both friends and family, who worked tirelessly to make it a great success. They thank God for the friends from MA who have been praying and who also sent them generous monetary gifts.
They thank God for another answer to prayer: Ekaette has been able to find new employment with a better salary.
Pray for Akaninyene as he writes NECO exams this month.
Pray for Gail as she will be at home in Ireland on a personal visit. Pray for Godwin and Angel as they manage in her absence.
KATIE MORRISON
Katie asks you to keep Holley Memorial Hospital in your prayers. There is a need for Nigerian nurses who are Christ like, experienced, passionate and willing to stay for longer than a few months. Pray that those students who graduate from the College of Nursing may feel led to work in the hospital for a period of time.
Katie has been encouraged by the work in Holley Memorial Primary school. The Education Board was able to pass them on a number of areas they had previously struggled to achieve.
Pray for the Morrisons as they are back in the UK for two months of Home Assignment.
Pray for Morgan (an American volunteer) as she continues to work with Acacia in August in the Morrisons absence.
There are many problems among the Acacia graduates, especially with jealousy. Pray against division and for wisdom in how to move forward
JEREMY & RACHEL NASH
Thank the Lord for Jeremy & Rachel’s call to Chad. It has been wonderful being here on a thriving mission station with lots of people coming and going. They are thankful to have been able to serve in this way and for everyone whom they have met; particularly Franklin who has done many tasks that Jeremy would struggle to do. Please pray for him, a conscientious worker who often goes beyond his duty and hours. May God bless him richly.
Pray that youth groups will use the Relationships Course though training that Jeremy has given and that it guides many young people in their relationships.
Jeremy & Rachel fly home July 12th. They are hoping to have a rest and holiday during the summer months as well as both be seeing the dentist for dental and medical check-ups. Pray for the possibility of a heart operation for Jeremy and for Gods providence in that.
Remember them as they leave Mission Africa and settle into a new life. They will now both be looking for work. Pray
they don’t slow to a walk but instead run with perseverance the race before them.
Continue to remember the ministry in Burkina Faso. Pray for the Executive Committee and especially Marc and Saybou as they prepare for the Annual Conference; for all the practical arrangements in booking accommodation and conference halls, catering as well as preparing the agenda. Pray for all decisions that will be discussed and made during conference.
Praise the Lord for all that was achieved last year, and for the links with the Compassion Centres. Pray for Gods provision so that the ministry continues to thrive and grow and is not held back through lack of resources. Pray that the local churches would get involved financially.
Jeremy is hoping to be able to travel to Burkina Faso from around 20th August to 10th September. Pray for a planned conference with the Dagari pastors, that God renews their faith and ministry for his Glory and implementation of churches in villages without a gospel witness.
KATHRYN LINDSAY
Thank God for all those coming to Kenya this summer in obedience to His call. Pray for safety and good health for all members of each team. Pray for unity among all teams and that each individual will be used mightily by God during their time here as well as growing in their own faith.
Pray for Kathryn as she leads the Women’s Leadership Team, and welcomes and facilities all other teams. Pray that she will be an
encouragement to all and nurture everyone’s gifts and talents. Pray too for God ordained conversations about faith, mission and missionary life.
Pray that Kathryn will balance her time well and that she will find sufficient time to rest during the busy summer period. Pray too against any illness or any other work of the enemy.
Pray that the school holiday dates will not be changed by the government at short notice and that there will be no gaps in team itineraries. Pray that God would lead and guide to the places He desires teams to serve should there be last minute changes or withdrawals.
Give thanks for good contact and communication between both the staff and students. Also that Ana is beginning to feel settled and the house is feeling more comfortable and liveable.
There is currently a lack of rain fall which is causing various issues. Pray also for better water management system when the rain does fall.
Pray for the Sunday School Program, as Ana has now been made supervisor. Pray for wisdom to know how to approach any changes and that the teachers feel free to discuss changes to proposals.
Give thanks for good meetings for Pamela, Musa & Gracie Gaiya in Scotland - 35 booked in for the “Meet & Greet the Gaiyas” at Hamilton Baptist Church.
Please pray for further development of the Resources Database to enable the summer teams to utilise it this year.
Robbie would value prayer for himself and Margaret as they’ll be exhibiting for Mission Africa over the summer. They’ll be at Keswick in Cumbria, Week 1, 13-20 July, then at the Moray Coast Convention, Buckie, 3-9 August. Pray for all necessary preparations and that the exhibition materials will be ready. Pray also for good health and stamina for these two weeks.
Pray for God-appointed conversations about God’s work in Africa, also that invitations to speak will result from their interactions with those they meet. Please pray that many will be drawn to serve in some way with Mission Africa, whether by going overseas short or long term, or by praying for or financially supporting the work.
Give thanks that there will be over 40 people travelling to Kenya this summer on medical electives and summer teams. Pray that God will be in the centre of all plans and preparations and that He will be preparing the hearts of those travelling too.
