n Friday, July 1, 2016, we are going to be celebrating Canada’s 149th birthday with a fun-filled evening of live music and dance performances, family activities and a spectacular fireworks show choreographed to music.

There are plenty of opportunities to show off our national pride throughout the country on Canada Day. As expected, Canadians are going to mark the anniversary with more excitement.

‘Canada Day’ being a federal statutory holiday, is celebrated throughout Canada with full fervour in recognition of the “July 1, 1867 enactment” of the British North Americas Act (BNA), also called “The Constitution Act, 1867.”

Historically speaking, the Canadian founders of confederation were the representatives of the British North America colonies who attended the three major conferences on Canadian confederation. Sir John A. Macdonald became the first Prime Minister of Canada on that day. Not only was he the ‘father of confederation,’ but he also drafted two-thirds of the provisions of the BNA creating the ‘Dominion of Canada.’ As a result, Canada became a self-governing dominion of Great Britain.

The four provinces were created from the former British colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario.

Currently, Canada consists of ten provinces and three territories. This Canadian national holiday was enacted in 1879 under the name “Dominion Day.” y In fact,, the formation

More exciting is the fact that Ottawa always welcomes Canadians from all across Canada who go to the national Capital to enjoy the specifically tailored festivities. This year again, thousands of Canadians are expected to congregate on the Parliament Hill to mark their country’s birthday.

The celebrations will be all over Canada. Similarly, Surrey, BC has its own celebration features that include the world-class entertainment, great food, games and amusement rides, and indeed a spectacular fireworks finale. Of course, the credit goes to millions of motivated immigrants who kept building this nation to make Canada an attractive country to live peacefully.

Every year, tens of thousands of Canadians celebrate Canada Day in grand style in the nation’s capital flocking to Parliament Hill to join with the Governor General, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages. Of course, the Canadians are entitled to celebrate their legacy, pride and opportunities.

In nutshell: Parliament Hill is the focal point for Canada Day celebrations, with a giant stage featuring Canadian performers throughout the day, the noontime playing of Oh Canada and a flyby by Canada’s Snowbirds aerobatics team and other military aircraft.

Major’s Hill Park and the Canadian Museum of History in downtown Gatineau, with fun and activities for people of all ages.

Certainly, Canada Day unites all Canadians regardless of creed, culture or ethnicity; it helps us understand the significance of the Canadian life. In other words, it brings us together, strengthens our communities, and helps us understand the significance of the Canadian life.

As Canadian history reflects the wonderful diverse cultural races, the importance of celebrating Canada Day means a lot to all Canadians.

Pakistan told the UN Security Council Tuesday that a United States drone attack that killed Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour in Balochistan had dealt a blow to the Afghan peace process, further complicating the regional situation. “The US drone strike on our territory was a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a blatant breach of the principles of the UN Charter and international law,” Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi said, while speaking in a debate about the situation in Afghanistan. “This unacceptable action,” the Pakistani envoy said, had “added to the intensity and complexity of

the Afghan conflict.” The drone strike had raised serious questions about whether the international community was ready to invest in war instead of peace in Afghanistan, she said. The use of force over the last 15 years had not led to peace, she said, advising against the continuation of such a strategy. At the outset, Lodhi took exception to remarks made by Afghanistan’s UN Ambassador Mahmoud Saikal accusing Pakistan of interference in his country’s internal affairs and allowing anti-Afghan terrorist groups to operate from safe havens inside the Pakistani territory. “Let me at the outset reject the unjustified, untrue and gratuitous comments made by the Afghan representative, casting uncalled for aspersions on my country and our state institutions,” the Pakistani envoy said. “The international community is well aware of and acknowledges Pakistan’s contribution and sacrifices in countering terrorism,” she said, while reaffirming Pakistan’s support to a genuine Afghan peace process.“This is a somber moment for the people of Afghanistan, for the region, and for the international community, which has invested so much blood and treasure to restore peace and stability in Afghanistan.”Ambassador Lodhi went on to ask the Government of Afghanistan not to externalise its internal problems and “blame others for its own failures”.

Both Canadian workers and their employers will soon be on the hook for higher contributions to the Canada Pension Plan after the federal government reached an agreement with most of the provinces Monday to revamp the program for the first time in nearly two decades. Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau said the change means future generations of Canadians will be able to retire in dignity, no matter the state of their finances.

“We have come to a conclusion that we are going to improve the retirement security of Canadians,” Morneau said. “We’re going to improve the Canada Pension Plan that will make a real difference in future Canadians’ situations.” By 2023, an extra $34 a month in pension premiums will mean up to $4,300 more in annual payouts come retirement time for the average Canadian wage earner. The agreement-in-principle, which only Quebec and Manitoba neglected to endorse, will see an increase in monthly premiums phased in starting at $7 a month in 2019 for a typical worker earning about $55,000. Once the plan is fully implemented, the maximum annual benefits will increase by about one-third to $17,478. Mandatory matching contributions will also mean a jump in payroll expenses for employers. A change to the CPP needs the consent of Ottawa and a minimum of seven provinces representing at least two-thirds of the country’s population.

Morneau said Quebec — which has its own pension plan — and Manitoba continue to be part of the process, despite not signing on to the agreement. “Quebec is in a different situation,” he said. “The Quebec pension plan is a different vehicle. The costs are different than the Canadian Pension Plan.

The idea that more analysis is required is something that we completely understood around the table.” For Manitoba, Morneau said the deal comes too soon for the province’s new Tory government. “Manitoba is

a brand new government. They’ve been in power for four weeks, so they were a productive voice around the table, a voice of continued interest in working together, but of course this comes pretty fast and hard for them.” Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa said young Canadians will reap the benefits from Monday’s decision. “Today, this federal government has shown great leadership and great desire to do something of great benefit for our young people.” Sousa said the plan would replace the one his government had been working on. British Columbia Finance Minister Mike de Jong, who had reservations about expanding the CPP, said he came on board because the plan is affordable. “I think we have reached a balanced approach to setting the objectives that were set out.” Provinces will have until July 15 to officially sign on to the agreement before it becomes formalized. Heading into Monday’s federal-provincial meeting, it was still unclear whether Ottawa would piece together the minimum required provincial support for change. Saskatchewan, for example, did not originally support CPP enhancement. Sources said Ottawa made a major 11th-hour push in hopes of securing enough countrywide support to boost the CPP and suggested Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was involved in the extra effort.

There hasn’t been such a level of consensus on CPP reform at a national scale since the 1990s. However, critics have warned that expanding the CPP would squeeze workers and employers for additional contributions, and hurt the still-fragile Canadian economy.

The federal government intensified its lobbying efforts over the final days and hours of ongoing meetings as it tried to attract support from enough provinces to ensure a CPP upgrade, said sources with knowledge of the talks.

Mateen, whose June 12 assault on a gay bar in Orlando left him and 49 people dead, pledged his loyalty to the Islamic State of Syria and the Levant (ISIL) as well as some other often-conflicting groups, according to FBI. The majority of the victims were lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people of colour, as it was a “Latin night” at the Pulse nightclub. During the 50-second call with a dispatcher, Mateen “made murderous statements” in a “chilling, calm and deliberate manner”, Ronald Hopper, FBI assistant special agent in charge in Orlando, said on Monday. However, there is no evidence Mateen, who was born in the US to Afghan immigrants, was directed by a foreign armed group, Hopper said. Mateen’s name and the groups and people to whom he pledged allegiance were omitted from the excerpt. But the FBI has previously said he pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIL, also known as ISIS. The AP and others requested the 911 tapes and related data, a common practice after such major events. The recordings could offer insight into how law-enforcement agencies responded. Meanwhile, four people remain in critical condition, according to hospital officials, more than a week after they were wounded in the nightclub attack. Orlando Regional Medical Center said 18 victims of the shooting were still at the hospital as of Monday morning and three more surgeries were scheduled for the day. The other 14 patients are listed in stable condition. The transcripts were initially released in a heavily redacted form, but after criticism from Paul Ryan, speaker of the House of Representatives, and others, the Department of Justice and the FBI released a full transcript of Mateen’s first conversation with 911.

Imagine the entire population of France uprooted from their homes, forced to flee danger, persecution or starvation. The UN refugee agency says more people than that — 65 million — were displaced worldwide at the end of last year, easily setting a new postwar record. And it warned that European and other rich nations can expect the flow to continue if root causes aren’t addressed. After a year when more than a million people arrived on European shores, UNHCR said Monday — World Refugee Day — that continued conflicts and persecution in places like Syria and Afghanistan fueled a nearly 10-per cent increase in the total number of refugees and internally displaced people in 2015. “I hope that the message carried by those forcibly displaced reaches the leaderships: We need action, political action, to stop conflicts,” said Filippo Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. “The message that they have carried is: ’If you don’t solve problems, problems will come to you.”’ The Geneva-based agency’s latest Global Trends Report shows that for the first time since World War II, the 60-million mark was crossed. “If these 65.3 million persons were a nation, they would make up the 21st largest in the world,” the report said. In stark detail, UNHCR said that, on average, 24 people had been displaced every minute last year — or 34,000 people a day — up from six every minute in 2005. The total number of displaced people has roughly doubled since 1997, and risen by 50 per cent since 2011 alone, when the Syria war began.

About 11.5 million people from Syria have fled their homes: 6.6 million remaining within the war-ravaged country and 4.9 million moving abroad. At the end of last year, more than half of all refugees were from three countries: Syria, Afghanistan and Somalia. More than half of all displaced people were children, UNCHR said. Turkey was the top host country for the second year running, with 2.5 million refugees — nearly all from neighbouring Syria.

Afghanistan’s neighbour Pakistan had 1.6 million, while Lebanon, next to Syria, hosted 1.1 million. “The scale of this human suffering is almost unimaginable; the need for the world to respond is beyond question,” said U.S. President Barack Obama, adding that he planned to convene a summit on refugees in September when world leaders meet for the UN General Assembly. “In advance of that summit, the United States is urging other governments to contribute more funding for humanitarian aid

operations, to grant more refugees the chance to work and attend school, and to provide more resettlement opportunities for refugees who cannot safely go home or remain where they are,” he said in a statement. “We are urging our non-governmental partners, including the private sector, to do more as well.” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted that displacement has been a “major challenge” throughout history but “humanity stands idly by as more than 65 million people escape from inhumane treatment and oppression today.”

“Governments whose policies aggravate humanitarian crises around the globe remain reluctant to lend their victims a helping hand,” Erdogan said. “The international community has a political and moral obligation to restore the human dignity of refugees.” UNHCR’s Grandi said policymakers and advocacy groups face daunting challenges in helping the largest subset of displaced people: Some 40.8 million living away from their homes within countries in conflict. Another 21.3 million are refugees and some 3.2 million more are seeking asylum.

More than a million people fled to Europe last year, causing a political crisis in the EU — with Greece and Italy facing the initial wave, Germany welcoming in hundreds of thousands, and some eastern European countries erecting barriers to block the flow. Concerns about immigration have affected the debate in Britain about whether to remain in the European bloc in Thursday’s referendum. This year, the flow of refugees into Europe has eased through the Turkey-to-Greece route that was the dominant thoroughfare last year. A recent EU-Turkey deal allows Greece to return Syrian asylumseekers to Turkey without evaluation of their protection claims on the basis it is a “safe third country.” Human Rights Watch on Monday urged the EU to evaluate Syrian refugees’ protection claims on the merits. Grandi called on countries to combat the anti-foreigner hatred that has accompanied the rise in refugee populations, and decried both physical barriers — like fences erected by some European countries — and legislative ones that limit access to richer, more peaceful EU states. Such European policies are “spreading a negative example around the world,” he said. “There is no plan B for Europe in the long run,” Grandi said. “Europe will continue to receive people seeking asylum. Their numbers may vary … but it is inevitable.”

Inviting in-demand, skilled immigrants to Canada

Express Entry

On January 1, 2015, IRCC launched Express Entry, an application management system designed to help Canada select skilled immigrants who are most likely to integrate fully into Canadian society. With most applications being processed in six months or less, candidates are able to quickly contribute to Canada’s economy and job market. The Express Entry system prevents backlogs and makes it possible to better coordinate application volumes with the annual immigration levels plan. The system will be reviewed to ensure that processing times are efficient.

In 2015, provinces and territories were allocated a number of “enhanced nominations,” accessible via dedicated Express Entry Provincial Nominee Program streams. “Enhanced nominations” are processed online and are subject to Express Entry’s six-month or less processing standard (in 80% of cases). These nominations were allocated in addition to the “base nominations” which provinces and territories can still access through existing Provincial Nominee Program streams and processing standards.

To prepare for the launch of Express Entry in 2015, the Government of Canada began accept-

ing applications under new caps for the Federal Skilled Workers Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class in May 2014. These measures helped to supplement the Canadian work force in areas where there were skills shortages, and helped to prevent backlogs and improve processing times. In 2016, the Government of Canada will complete processing of these applications, ensuring these economic immigrants can come to Canada and enter the Canadian labour market.

Immigrant Investors

In June 2014, following a comprehensive review and public consultations, the Government of Canada ended the existing federal Immigrant Investor and Entrepreneur programs, as they provided limited economic benefit to Canada.

In January 2015, the Government of Canada launched the Immigrant Investor Venture Capital Pilot Program, which seeks to attract a small number of immigrant investors who can make a real investment in the Canadian economy. The program aims to attract up to 60 immigrant investors who have a net worth of $10 million and who will provide an at-risk investment of $2 million for a period of approximately 15 years.

Immigrant investors must also meet certain program eligibility criteria related to language proficiency and education. This will ensure that immigrant investors make a real and significant investment in the Canadian economy and that those admitted for permanent residence are well prepared to integrate into the Canadian business landscape and society.

Temporary Residence

Temporary Foreign Workers and International Students Canada’s Temporary Economic Residents Program aims to facilitate the entry of temporary workers, students and visitors in a way that maximizes their contribution to Canada’s economic, social and cultural development and protects the health, safety and security of Canadians. The Government of Canada will examine ways to increase the transparency and integrity of the Temporary Foreign Workers Program.

Reforms will also be explored for the Canadian Experience Class Program to reduce barriers to international students. In particular, the Government of Canada will move to restore the residency time credit given to international students and other temporary residents to make it easier to become a Canadian citizen.

Maximize the last 10 days of Ramadan

By: Abdul Malik Mujahid aylatul Qadr (the Night of Power) is described in the Quran as, “better than a thousand months” (97:3). Any action done on this night such as reciting the Quran, remembering Allah, etc. is better than acting for one thousand months which do not contain the night of Qadr.

Allah’s Messenger used to exert himself in devotion during the last ten nights to a greater extent than at any other time.” (Muslim). Allah’s peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet.

Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, related that the Prophet said: Look for Laylatul Qadr on an odd-numbered night during the last ten nights of Ramadan (Bukhari).

The Prophet said: “Whoever prays during the night of Qadr with faith and hoping for its reward will have all of his previous sins forgiven.” (Bukhari and Muslim recorded from Abu Huraira).

Here are some tips of things we can do on the Night of Power and the time before and after it.

1. Take a vacation for Allah.

We take a break from our jobs for almost everything in life.

Why not this time to focus on worshiping and thanking our Creator.If this is not possible at least take a few days off if you can. This can make it easier to stay awake at night to do extra Ibadah, not having to worry about getting to work the next day. It will also facilitate doing Itikaf.

2. Do I’tikaf.

It was a practice of the Prophet to spend the last ten days and nights of Ramadan in the masjid for I’tikaf.

Those in I’tikaf stay in the masjid all this time, performing various forms of zikr (the remembrance of Allah), like doing extra Salat, recitation and study of the Quran. They do not go outside the masjid except in case of emergencies, therefore, they sleep in the masjid. Their families or the masjid administration takes care of their food needs. I’tikaf of a shorter period of time, like one night, a day or a couple of days is encouraged as well.

3. Make this special Dua. Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: I asked the Messenger of Allah: ‘O Messenger of Allah, if I know what night is the night of Qadr, what should I say during it?’ He said: ‘Say: O Allah, You are pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.’ “(Ahmad, Ibn Majah, and Tirmidhi).

The transliteration of this Dua is “Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘annee”

4. Recite the Quran.

Perhaps you can choose Surahs or passages from the Quran, which you have heard in Tarawih this past Ramadan to recite.If you attend a class where the recitation of the Quran is taught, this is a great time to put your knowledge into practice.

5. Reflect on the meaning of the Quran.

Choose the latest Surah or Surahs you’ve heard in Tarawih and read their translation and Tafseer. Then think deeply about their meaning and how it affects you on a personal level.

6. Get your sins wiped out.

Abu Huraira narrated that the Messenger said: Whoever stands (in prayer) in Laylatul Qadr while nourishing his faith with self-evaluation, expecting reward from Allah, will have all of his previous sins forgiven. [Bukhari and Muslim).

Don’t just pray using the shorter Surahs that you know. Try to make your prayers longer, deeper and meaningful. If you are familiar with longer Surahs, read the translation and explanation and then pray reciting these Surahs, carefully reflecting on the meaning while you pray.

Even if you are only familiar with the shorter Surahs, read the translation and explanation beforehand, and then pray reflecting on the message of the Surahs.

This is a good way to develop the habit of concentration, even in regular prayers, where many of us tend to be fidgety and/or easily distracted.

7. Make a personal Dua list.

Ask yourself what you really want from Allah. Make a list of each and everything, no matter how small or how big it is, whether it deals with this world or not. Allah loves to hear from us. Once this list is ready, you can do three things: Ask Allah to give you those things

Think about what actions you have taken to get those things Develop a work plan to get those things in future.

8. Evaluate yourself.

Ask yourself those questions that need to be asked. Do an evaluation of where you are and where you are going. Let this evaluation lead you to feel happiness for the good you have done and remorse for the bad you have done. This latter feeling should make it easier to seek Allah’s sincere forgiveness when making the Dua mentioned in tip number one above.

9. Make long, sincere and deep Duas One of the best times to do this is during the last part of the night.

Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, related that the Prophet said: When the last one-third of the night remains, our Lord, the Glorious One descends towards the heaven of the earth and proclaims: Who is that who supplicates for Me, and I grant his supplication? Who is that who begs Me for anything and I grant it to him? And who is that who seeks My forgiveness, and I forgive him? (Bukhari, Muslim).

That means for instance, waking up one hour before Suhoor time to ask Allah for anything and everything you want that is Halal. This can be done using the Duas of the Sunnah, but also Dua in your own language, with sincerity and conviction.

10. Memorize a different Dua every night They don’t have to be long. They can be just one line. And be sure to know what they mean generally at least, even if you don’t know the exact translation in English.

You can put them on index cards (or and keep them with you during the day, glancing at them during work, while driving, waiting in line, etc.) Then practice them at night in prayer.

11. Have Iftar with the family If you’ve spent Iftar time on weekdays in your cubicle at work alone with a couple of dates, now is the last few days you’ll have this Ramadan to spend with your family. Use it wisely.

12. Take the family to Tarawih Have your spouse and kids missed Tarawih most of Ramadan because you weren’t there to drive them to the Masjid, which is too far away to walk to? If so, do all of yourselves a favour and bring everyone for Tarawih in these last ten nights.

13. Attend the Dua after the completion of Quran recitation Almost all Masjids where the Imam aims to finish an entire reading of the Quran in Tarawih prayers in Ramadan will be completing their recitation in these last ten nights. They may try to end on one of the odd nights and read the Dua at the end of a reading of the Quran. Attend this particular night’s Tarawih prayer with your family. See if you can attend different Masjids’ Tarawih prayers the night they finish reading the Quran.

14. Finish reading a book on the Prophet Read about the Prophet’s life, which can increase your love for him and Islam by seeing how much he struggled for Allah’s sake. It may inspire you to push yourself even harder during these last ten nights. This community is built on sacrifice.

15. Plan for the next year Once you’ve done a self-evaluation, you can plan on where you want to go, at least in the next 12 months. Laylatul Qadr is a great night to be thinking about this (without taking away from your worship), since you’ll Insha Allah, be in a more contemplative state. You may choose to dedicate one night of power for evaluation and one night for planning for the next year.

16. To do list for the Night of Power Make a to do checklist for each Night of Power. This should define how you would like your night, the one better than a thousand months, to be used. Pick things from this list and define the sequence you would like to do things in.

This will help you avoid wasting your time in unproductive chats which common in the festive atmosphere of Masjids at the Night of Power.

What is Itikaf?

I

tikaf is a form of worship. It is formed by staying in a Mosque for a certain time. It is Ehtiyat that one should stay with the intention to worship Allah by praying formal or informal prayers. . Itikaf provides an opportunity to the believer to get closer to Allah by temporarily freeing oneself and one’s mind from the activities and worries of this world.

This provides an excellent opportunity to train oneself to disassociate temporarily from the worries of the world and to instead focus only on Allah alone. The time for this form of worship could be anytime when one is allowed to fast. The best time is the month of Ramadan, especially, the last ten days.

Since the disorder of the heart cannot be rectified except by turning to Allah the Most High, and its disorder will be increased by eating and drinking too much, mixing with the people excessively, speaking profusely and sleeping too much. These will cause it to wander into every valley, and cut it off from its path to Allah, weaken it, divert it or put a halt to it.

From the Mercy of the Mighty and Most Merciful is that He has prescribed for them fasting , which will cut off the excesses of eating and drinking, and empties the hear of its desires which divert it on its journey to Allah the Most High. He prescribed it in due proportion as will be appropriate and will benefit the servant, with regard to this world and the Hereafter, and does not harm him, nor damage what is beneficial for him.He also prescribed i`tikaf for them, by which is intended that the heart is fully occupied with Allah, the Most High, concentrated upon Him alone, and cut off from preoccupation with the creation. Rather it is engrossed with Him alone, the One free of all defects, such that remembering Him, loving Him and turning to Him takes the place of all anxieties of the heart and its suggestions, such that he is able to overcome them. Thus all his concerns are for Him. His thoughts are all of remembrance of Him, and thinking of how to attain His Pleasure and what will cause nearness to Him. This leads him to feel contented with Allah instead of the people, so that prepares him for being at peace with Him alone on the

He stood along with me to accompany me back -and her dwelling was in the house of Usaamah Ibn Zayd [until when he came to the door of the mosque near the door of Umm Salamah], two men of the Ansaar were passing by, when they saw the Prophet, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, they hastened by, so the Prophet, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, said : “Be at your ease for she is Safiyyah bintu Huyayy.” So they said:” ‘SubhanAllah, O Messenger of Allah! [we did not have any doubt about you].’ He said: “Indeed Shaytan circulates in the son of Adam just as blood circulates, and I feared that he would insert an evil thought” -or he said : “something - into your hearts” [Bukhari and Muslim, in [] are additional narrations from Abu Dawud] (2) Combing and cutting one’s hair, clipping one’s nails, cleaning one’s body, wearing nice clothes or wearing perfume are all permissible.

Aishah radhiya Allahu `anha reported that the Messenger of Allah, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, used to practice I`tikaf in the last ten nights of Ramadan and used to say, “Look for the Night of Qadr in the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan” [Bukhari] Abu Hurairah, radiyallahu ‘anhu said: “Allah’s Messenger, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, used to perform i`tikaf for ten days every Ramadan, then when it was the year in which he was taken (died), he performed I`tikaf for twenty days. [Bukhari] Al-Bukhari records from Abu Said that the Prophet (S) said: “Whoever makes I`tikaf with me is to make I’tikaf during the last ten [nights].”

the Prophet Performed I`tikaf, he brought his head close to me so I could comb his hair, and he would not enter the house except to fulfill the needs a person has.” [al-Bukhari, and Muslim].Ibn al-Mundhir says: “The scholars agree that the one who performs itikaf may leave the mosque in order to answer the call of nature, for this is something that he personally must perform, and he cannot do it in the mosque. Also, if he needs to eat or drink and there is no one to bring him his food, he may leave to get it. If one needs to vomit, he may leave the mosque to do so. For anything that he must do but cannot do in the mosque, he can leave it, and such acts will not void his itikaf, even if they take a long time. Examples of these types of acts would include washing one’s self from sexual defilement and cleaning his body or clothes from impurities.”

(4) The person may eat, drink, and sleep in the mosque, and he should also keep it clean.

Actions that Nullify the I`tikaf If a person performs one of the following acts, his I`tikaf will be nullified: (1) Intentionally leaving the mosque without any need to do so, even if it is for just a short time. In such a case, one would not be staying in the mosque, which is one of the principles of I`tikaf.

(2) Abandoning belief in Islam, as this would nullify all acts of worship. If you ascribe a partner to Allah, your work will fail and you will be among the losers.

(3) Losing one’s reason due to insanity or drunkenness, or the onset of menstruation or post-childbirth bleeding, all of which disqualifies a person for itikaf.

(4) Sexual intercourse. Allah says [in meaning]: “But do not associate with your wives while you are in seclusion (I`tikaf) in the mosques. Those are Limits (set by) Allah.

Approach not nigh thereto. Thus does Allah make clear His Signs to men: that they may learn self-restraint. [al-Baqara; 2:187] I`tikaf is not restricted to men only, women also can do it : ‘Aisha (the wife of the Prophet) reported that the Prophet, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, used to practice I`tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan till he died and then his wives used to practice I`tikaf after him.[Bukhari] Source : http://www.ezsoftech.com

If Zakat al-Fitr is paid after the Eid prayer, it will only be considered d as regular charity. The Prophet, sallaallahu `alayhe wa sallam, said: “If one pays Zakat al-Fitr before the Salat, it is considered an accepted Zakat, if he pays it after the Salat, it is considered an ordinary charity.”

Zakat al-Fitr is to be given to the same eight categories or people as in the other types of Zakat. Some scholars say that the poor and the nedy are the most deserving ones since the Prophet, sallaallahu `alayhe wa sallam, said that it had “...the purpose of providing food for the needy.”

MADINAH: Work is undergoing at Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz International Airport in Madinah to ensure preparedness with the arrival of a large number of pilgrims and visitors to perform Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque.

Airport officials have reached out to operating parties to ensure preparedness of the plan to facilitate arrivals and departures of more than 750,000 travelers during Ramadan and beyond, which is being overseen by the operating company, TIBAH. Senior Airport Authority Director Engineer Waled Abu Anaq said comprehensive plans for the heavy travel period during the month of Ramadan include preparation of arrival and departure halls, provision of all equipment necessary, and operation of all banking equipment at the airport to dispense foreign currencies from official banks in the arrivals hall.

All service counters for Umrah passengers have been operated at Haj halls specializing in the arrivals and departures of Umrah passengers on international flights, in coordination with the Passports and Customs Departments, Umrah company offices, and under the supervision of the branch of the Ministry of Haj and Umrah in Madinah.

All airline offices in the departure halls have also been prepared to facilitate services, as have all security and inspection points. Umrah flights have been rescheduled as well to

ensure facilitated and organized movement inside the departure halls and air space.

General Director of Airport Authority Engineer Mohammed Al-Fadel said the operational plan for Ramadan is being implemented in coordination with the operations company and specialized government authorities. The plan takes into account the safety, security, and comfort of passengers by taking specific measures to increase the level of coordination and follow-up by all authorities working at the airport.

The aim, he said, is to reduce the time needed to complete departure and arrival procedures for Umrah passengers and visitors, while guaranteeing the best maintenance and safety environment at the airport.

“The operational plan for the month of Ramadan includes coordination in movement of passengers around the clock, as per the operational plan, in order to facilitate the arrival and departure of more than 750,000 passengers on 1,600 international Umrah flights on various airlines, in addition to receiving regularly scheduled international and domestic flights,” he said.

He said all counters at the Haj plaza halls have been prepared to service passengers throughout the month, noting that the airport’s staff has been well prepared and trained to complete all procedures for the arrival and departure of passengers in record time. Source: Arab News

T

here are many examples in the Qur’an and Hadith of the virtues of a positive mental attitude, perseverance and optimism in the face of adversity.

However, did you know that patience and a positive outlook on life are two of the greatest healing tools that you can use? The Qur’an (2:155) says, “Give glad tidings to those who exercise patience when struck with adversity and say, ‘Indeed, we belong to God and to Him is our return.’ Such ones receive [the] blessings and mercy of their Lord, and such are the guided ones.” According to the findings of modern science, it appears that this mercy may often come in the form of improved health. Bernard Jensen says, in his book The Science and Practice of Iridology, “The doctor of the new day will recognize that a man’s most important workshop is not the physical body, but the mind that controls it.” Dr. Ted M. Morter confirms this in his book, Your Health… Your Choice, when he says that “negative thoughts are the number one acid producer in the body (and high body acidity levels are a major cause of disease) because your body reacts to negative mental and emotional stress brought about by thought the same way it reacts to ‘real’ threats of physical harm.”

In fact, hospital studies show that, of all the patients who consult outpatient clinical facilities in the United States, an astounding seventy percent are found to have no organic basis for their complaint. That figure is amazingly high. However, although medically these patients are not found to have an obvious organic source for their complaints, there actually is a physical basis for this phenomenon. Since Freud popularized the idea of psychoanalysis, people have often focused exclusively on the mental realm to solve certain problems, forgetting that we cannot separate the physical and mental realms. The mind is in the brain, and the brain is an organ. Like all other organs, it feeds from the same pool of nutrients that

H E A L T H other body organs feed from and is susceptible to all of the same problems. Ultimately, the brain is just a part of our body like all of the other parts and is completely ely dependent on the body.

It requires sugar to develop energy unlike other tissues that can develop it from potassium and fats. Consequently, it is the first organ to suffer from low blood sugar and it reacts most severely. Freud himself said that psychoanalysis was not suitable for treating diseases such as schizophrenia, and he postulated that their causes eventually would be found to be biochemical.

If we keep in mind that the brain is an organ and that it works in harmony with the other organs and feeds from the same bloodstream, we can understand how various mental events can affect us physically. For example, simply using our brains to think and study burns up nutrients in our system, particularly phosphorus. Heavily exercising the brain can cause us to suffer from a phosphorus deficiency. And we find that the reverse is also true in this relationship.

People who have high intellectual capacity usually have high levels of phosphorus in their system.

There is much wisdom in the Prophet’s (SAW) statement (narrated by Abu Huraira), “The strong [person] is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong [person] is the one who controls himself while in anger.” In fact, staying patient and calm is key to physical strength.

Phosphorus is not the only nutrient that can be depleted by mental stress and a lack of spiritual calm. If the thyroid gland, the primary organ to handle our emotions, works overtime, we can suffer from a deficiency

in iodine. Stress from a demanding job, a divorce or relocating can cause a loss of potassium and sodium in the body because it effects the adrenal glands creating more of a need for these minerals.

Even hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can be caused by excitement. The prophet (SAW) recommended our taking the more moderate path in life; however, we often engage in or expose ourselves to intense excitement by yelling, excessively watching television, and going to the mall, movies, parties, amusement parks, etc. When we see something exciting, our adrenal cortex is stimulated and there is an increase in our blood sugar. This, in turn, stimulates the pancreas to secrete insulin into the blood to lower the sugar level, causing us to then feel tired or weak.

It produces calm and health to practice saying, “Alhamdulillah” for what we have and for what we are faced with. We should try to keep our home and work environments peaceful and as free from stress as possible.

One way we can counteract the effects of stress are to simply be aware of the stress we are encountering, and to consume sufficient nutrients and supplements such as

herbs.

For instance, if a person is up late praying or reading Qur’an during Ramadan, they can eat phosphorus rich foods and those that will help them maintain their phosphorus intake. If a person is moving, traveling or making Hajj or Umra, they may want to increase their intake of foods high in potassium and sodium as well as vitamin B complex. If we completely ignore the relationship between mental and physical health, we are missing an important detail in the picture of personal health. And, as in most health problems, practicing prevention is superior to finding a cure. Therefore, the best manner to avoid having negative attitudes and emotions control our bodies is simply to practice the wisdoms that we have been given throughout the Qur’an and Hadith. We should say, “Alhamdullilah” for what we have; “Insha’Allah” for what we intend; and, “Subhana’ Allah” when we see something exciting or amazing. We should remember to say, Astaghfir’Allah” when we lose our tempers or become weak, and most importantly, “Allahu Akbar” when we are faced with the challenges of life.

These five phrases, said regularly, are like taking a multi-vitamin for holistic health.

However, do keep in mind that Ramadan is not a food festival. It is so much more than that, and like everything else, it does not last. So we need to prioritise because before we know it, the month of Ramadan with all its blessings will be gone, giving way to the other months.

This is why just as you may have an ibadah plan for Ramadan, having a planned and organised kitchen is also important, as it will help us become more effective in managing our time when the holy month arrives. This, in turn, will hopefully give us more opportunity to focus on other activities like performing taraweeh, reciting the Qur’an and performing dhikr.So, without further ado, below are some of my tips to help you become more organised in the kitchen during the month of Ramadan: 1. Have a pre-Ramadan clean-up session Since we do not want to be spending a lot of time and energy doing any major cleaning up in our kitchen during Ramadan, it makes perfect sense to do this beforehand. Depending on the size and state of your kitchen, you can do this as early as three weeks ahead, although I personally feel that two weeks should be enough time. What we want to tackle for this session is basically what I like to call the “major stuff”.

• Getting rid of any unwanted materials or ingredients to make space for the items that you will need for Ramadan.

• Wiping (inside and outside) your oven, microwave, cabinets, fridge, freezer, windows, kitchen counter, stove top and floor.

• Designating a home for all your ingredients and kitchen utensils or tools.

Once this task is completed, come Ramadan, your kitchen will be in great condition and all you have to worry about then is maintaining it that way for the rest of the month.

Remember, consistency is everything! Habits like regularly tackling your dirty dishes before they build up, immediately putting things where they belong and instantly

wiping spills, dirt or grime will ensure that your kitchen stays clean and neat all the time with minimal effort.

2. Start planning your Ramadan menu Now that we have got the cleaning covered, it is time to move on to meal planning. I believe that doing this in advance will help make our transition into Ramadan easier. You can start planning the menu two weeks ahead: sit down and spend about an hour or two to list down all the dishes that you plan to serve throughout the entire month and prepare a shopping list for the ingredients that you need. In planning the menu, take into account family favourites and any dietary restrictions so you don’t end up preparing dishes that nobody will eat.

Preparing your meals ahead I recommend that you consider including meals that can be made ahead of time in your menu. They are essentially dishes that you prepare in advance, and then freeze and reheat when you want to serve them.

Examples of such meals include stews, soups, sauces, porridge, curry dishes, and many more. These meals can be made to last for months (most food items will keep up to 3 months if stored properly), which will save you so much precious time during Ramadan.

Allocate a day when you can do all your cooking (perhaps a week or two, or a few days prior to Ramadan) or take a few hours every couple of days and slowly build up your meals. Double or (if you’re up for it!) triple the amount that you usually make and store it in food containers in usable portions so you don’t end up wasting food. By preparing as many meals as you can before entering Ramadan, you will be able to have more free time later on.

Storing fast and easy foods It also helps to fill up your kitchen with healthy snacks and easy-to-prepare foods, should you find yourself in situations when you’re required to do some quick, last-minute cooking. Trust me, no matter how much we have planned, there will be days like these!

Foods like rice, bread, eggs, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, fruits, canned fish, barley, cereals, frozen vegetables and baked beans are among my kitchen staples. They’re versatile, easy to make and I always make sure I have them around in case I’m in the mood for some instant nourishment without having to put in too much effort to prepare them.

food containers (preferably glass if you plan to reheat them in the microwave) come in many brands and sizes, some of which are very, very cheap. They are useful to have in the kitchen, especially when it comes to meal preparation and storing leftovers or make-ahead meals.

Now, I’m aware that some of the things I have listed above may not be that eco-friendly, so my advice is to only use these products when necessary, try to reuse them (if possible) and recycle those that can be recycled.

4. Go shopping Now that you have your list, it’s time to hit the supermarket! Knowing when to buy what is also important.

Ideally, we would all want to cross off every single item on our list in one shopping trip. Unfortunately, this is not always practical. If you are going to cook right away, then there’s no problem with this. But if you plan on doing it on some later date, then it is best to stock up on all the kitchen gears and non-perishable foods you will need for Ramadan first (examples: dry foods like grains, canned goods) and leave out the easily perishable ones (examples: fresh herbs and green, leafy vegetables) for later, as they don’t last long. Purchase them a day or two before you plan to use them to ensure they are still in good shape when cooked. So, even though you don’t get to buy everything in one go, at least you get to shop lightly on your subsequent shopping trips since you only have to focus on getting the remaining items.

Online Shopping While we’re still on the subject of shopping, another great way to do this is by buying things online. These days, a lot of major supermarkets around the world offer this facility with either zero or minimal delivery charge. Check with your nearest supermarket if they provide delivery service to your area. Online shopping is not only convenient, but it is also a real time-saver. It is definitely something I would recommend, especially for those who are always busy and those who are too weak or tired to go to the supermarket while fasting. It also minimises impulse buying: since you are not walking through the aisles (on empty stomachs during Ramadan!), it prevents you from buying items that most likely will be unnecessary, unhealthy and expensive.

5. Get familiar with kitchen shortcuts These are tricks that can make your life as a home cook less stressful, as they help cut your work short. If your goal for this Ramadan is to have an easier time in the kitchen, then you should learn as many shortcuts as possible. For instance, using a food processor to chop onions (especially when you need to use a lot of them) and soaking cut fruits in saltwater to prevent them from turning brown are just

a few examples of the many tips available out there. You can get them from the internet, cookbooks, and from your mother! I personally feel that the best tips I got were from my grandmother. A lot of them sounded strange when I first heard them, but they always work perfectly!

6. Keep things uncomplicated when hosting iftar parties For many Muslims, iftar parties are a must during Ramadan. Unfortunately, a lot of people tend to go overboard in planning them resulting in overly stressed out and tired hosts and banquets of meals that make you too tired for ibadah afterwards. To avoid this, the key is to keep things simple. Plan ahead and be realistic about what you can and cannot do. If you cannot cook for more than 20 people, keep the number of guests below that or if this is not possible, then consider other options like recruiting extra help, serving store-bought foods or better yet, turning it into a “bring-a-dish” party, where everyone pitches in and brings along one dish. Not only is this fun as your guests get to showcase their cooking talent, but it will also lessen your workload. The spirit of Ramadan will also come alive as everyone will take part in feeding other fasting people.

Plus, it is also easier to use disposable plates, cups and utensils (opt for eco-friendly ones, if possible) for these events, especially if you are inviting a large number of guests. I know they don’t exactly represent chic dining, but at least you won’t be stuck washing dirty dishes for hours later on!

7. If things don’t go as planned…relax!

This is firstly a reminder for me, as it is for everyone else. I personally find it difficult to accept when things don’t go according to my plan and I struggle greatly with this as it is just not in my nature to go with the flow. But in my distress, I always remind myself that no matter how perfect I think my plans are, Allah is still The Best Planner. I take comfort in this and it helps me to deal with any unexpected hurdle that might come in my way of being more organised.

So, be it an accident involving the dessert that you have lovingly and painstakingly prepared for iftar, or the unexpected guests arriving at your doorstep five minutes before Maghrib, it helps to remember this and to just try and handle these situations the best you can, without losing too much of your cool. It’s Ramadan after all, a month of mercy and forgiveness. Let us not lose sight of that. There you have it, sisters! My 7 tips for an organised, Ramadan-ready kitchen! Did you find this useful? Ramadan the month of patience and Empathy”, the motto The (AICP) Association of Islamic Charitable Projects in BC this year; minds and deeds.

Ramadan is celebrated around the world as a month of abstinence from the worldly pleasures, the defiance of desires, a month of pure intentions and occupying one’s days and breaths with the acts of obedience to Allah. Muslims commemorate this month as the month of the Qur’an. This month is celebrated greatly all over the world. At the end of the day, at iftar, Muslims gather, eat together, and participate in the religious festivities like dhikr, Qur’an recitation and prayer.

These traditions are well revived, by the AICP, with Muslim families in British Columbia, as well.

This year, Ramadan in British Columbia will be during the month of June & July. Recognizing this holy month of Ramadan is a good way

for Muslim to remember both the diversity and shared values of many Muslims worldwide. To do this, the AICP welcomed the blessed month of Ramadan with a celebration on Saturday, June 11th at its center at 553 Front Street, New Westminster.

The celebration started with a moving Qur’an recitation for some verses that remind Muslims of the Hereafter and the need to adhere to obedience. After that, The AICP Chants Group presented some heartwarming Islamic chants about Ramadan and its virtues as well as the love of Allah and His Messenger, peace be upon him. A lesson about the essentials of belief was given after that. The celebration was followed by a group iftar in which Muslims from all backgrounds gathered and enjoyed the fulfilment of an obedience to Allah.

The AICP wishes the Muslim community a rewardable blessed month, peace and prosperity.

Kerry Kunzli, Richard Gestle, and Amarjit Dhadwar went up the lift and spent 50 hours, 50 feet in the air on a crane to raise money with Ride2Survive and the Hand On Back Community Services Society, benefitting the Canadian Cancer Society, taking place at the Payal Business Center in Surrey from June10-12, This event was designed by the Ride2Survive organization, which is devoted to generating donations for the Canadian Cancer Society to assist in brain cancer research. Ride2Survive is a non-profit, fully volunteer organization based here in British Columbia, which offers cycling events as its primary source of fundraising. So far, they have raised over $500 000 for the 2015 calendar year, with fully 100% of these donations going towards cancer research.

The brave participants in the air stayed up for the full 50 hours, as encouragement to those below to donate to the cause. On the ground, with Sikandar Hayat, President of the BC Liberals Surrey-Newton Riding Association and co-founder of the Amazing Tutor’s Children’s Foundation, coordinating with Ken Usipiuk, Sunny Kainth and Vicki Kunzli, the Co-ordinators of Ride2Survive team, our amazing volunteers and students helped participate, collecting funds, coordinating traffic flow into the event, decorating the area, entertaining the group with dancing and even utilizing their public speaking skills, communicating in Punjabi to inform local residents and shoppers of the event to encourage donations.

The celebration atmosphere at the Payal Business Center was “over the top”--to see the community come out together to welcome us and our efforts. It demonstrated the hope that

Ride2Survive provides to those suffering and reveals the support for all those involved in battling the disease.

It also allows our future generations to know that they are not alone in fighting against cancer. Thanks to research, Canadians have been able to dramatically improve the 5-year survival rate from 25% in 1947 to over 60% today.

Improved treatments with prevention strategies are helping Canadians live longer.

The event concluded with the raising of $29,500 to go towards cancer research funded by the Canadian Cancer Society. We feel extremely blessed to have been given the opportunity by Ride2Survive to engage with the community in such an important way, and to get our students out and volunteering to aid research that will positively impact so many lives. Here at Amazing Tutors Children’s Foundation, we believe that providing our students with positive and community based volunteer activities is an essential part of their development into responsible and capable citizens whom we hope will continue to impact their communities throughout their lives.

We wish the Ride2Survive team all the best as they ride from Kelowna climbing up the Coquihalla Highway and tracing through the Cascade Mountains from 3:30 am to 10:00 pm on June 18, 2016. This ride comprises a gruelling and a challenging physical and emotional journey, pointing out that those who battle cancer have a physical and emotional fight far greater than anything we could imagine. Upon arriving back to Delta, B.C., they would have pedaled 400 km and climbed 12,000 feet in one day, so that all of us will benefit from their foresight and perseverance.

By:Shabnam Khan – Family Counsellor ; Surrey “Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose” For most people, feeling happy and finding life meaningful are both important and related goals. But do happiness and meaning always go together? Recent research suggests that while happiness and a sense of meaning often overlap, they also diverge in important and surprising ways.

As one might expect, people’s happiness levels were positively correlated with whether they saw their lives as meaningful. However, the two measures were not identical – suggesting that what makes us happy may not always bring more meaning, and vice versa. To probe for differences between the two, the researchers examined the survey items that asked detailed questions about people’s feelings and moods, their relationships with others, and their day-to-day activities. Feeling happy was strongly correlated with seeing life as easy, pleasant, and free from difficult or troubling events. Happiness was also correlated with being in good health and generally feeling well most of the time. However, none of these things were correlated with a greater sense of meaning.

Feeling good most of the time might help us feel happier, but it doesn’t necessarily bring a sense of purpose to our lives.

Interestingly, their findings suggest that money, contrary to popular sayings, can indeed buy happiness. Having enough money to buy what one needs in life, as well as what one desires, were also positively correlated with greater levels of happiness.

However, having enough money seemed to make little difference in life’s sense of meaning. People from wealthy countries tend to be happier, however, they don’t see their lives as more meaningful. While people from low income countries tend to see their lives as more meaningful. Although

the reasons are not totally clear, this might be related to greater religious belief, having more children, and stronger social ties among those living in poorer countries. Perhaps instead of saying that “money doesn’t buy happiness,” we ought to say instead that “money doesn’t buy meaning.”

Not too surprisingly, our relationships with other people are related to both how happy we are as well as how meaningful we see our lives. Feeling more connected to others improved both happiness and meaning.

However, the role we adopt in our relationships makes an important difference. In addition, spending more time with friends was related to greater happiness but not more meaning. In contrast, spending more time with people one loves was correlated with greater meaning but not with more happiness.

When it comes to thinking about how to be happier, many of us fantasize about taking more vacations or finding ways to avoid tasks. However, some tasks which don’t make us happy can, over time, add up to a meaningful life. Even routine activities - talking on the phone, cooking, cleaning, housework, meditating, emailing, praying, reading book and balancing finances - appeared to bring more meaning to people’s lives, but not happiness in the moment.

To conclusion happiness can be attained in things which we already have but don’t realize the true meaning of this happiness unless we might be at the edge of losing it.

A human being is also animal in the eyes of science but what separates him is his sense of good and bad , right and wrong.Parents and youth when parents are having no serious issues among themselves , they are aware as their role as parents.

When they understand the serious responsibility of being parents and make sure to keep good atmosphere at home, instill in the children sense of duty ,love, sacrifice ,right ,wrong each household will be ideal place for our future generations. It’s like taking the full responsibility of a job. Others also assume ,have trust that the person will do his or her job well. Same way children also know that parents are doing their job ,their duty to make them good individuals.

Legacy is carried on , these children will become parents tomorrow and look after their children.

They will be different but still basic qualities of personality , some part of nature and way of thinking surely stays with each generation. Let’s see with a small example . we see some craze for branded thingsShowing off , presenting oneself vary greatly this things comes when one is ashamed of being less than some more rich or talented persons or one is having urge to be superior.

It is not wrong to have desire to be successful but it is wrong to achieve it by hook or crook or by anyway. Both the situations are harmful when either a person is out of control due to success or is in deep hurt due to failure.

The family It is the family which gives support and strength when a person is down. Family, parents teaches to walk again after falling again and again. D

uring1977-78 as a flight cadet at the Pakistan Air Force Academy Risalpur, Flying Officer Mudassar was my instructor pilot on the T-37 jet trainer aircraft. The T-37 aircraft, fitted with a dual control system, twin jet engines, and retractable gears with full aerobatic capabilities was considered a comfortable flying car. The pilot carried more paraphernalia on the body than my earlier flown Mushshak piston aircraft. The helmet over head had a visor in front of the eyes, contained headset in the ears and an oxygen mask covered the nose and the mouth. Fitted inside the mask over the mouth was the radio transmitter.

We also packed the parachute on the back in case of ejection.

To avoid any struggle or confusion over the flight controls amongst the two pilots, only one person was supposed to fly at any given time. The Instructor pilot, before taking over the flight controls said-, ‘I have the controls.’

When the student pilot heard the command, he took his feet away from the rudders, placed both the hands on both the thighs and handed over the controls by saying-,‘Yes Sir-, you have the controls.’ These words were always exchanged between the student and the instructor to maintain a clear understanding of the pilot-in-command.

I vomited during flying, but it was due to the support of my Instructor that I continued to fly despite landing with the vomiting bag in my hand. Sir Mudassir was soon to be posted out of Risalpur Academy to Air Base Mianwali. He was a kind instructor and a great professional.

I was assigned a new Instructor Pilot. My new instructor wasn’t so kind. He called me a ‘Sissy’ meaning a coward during flying.

Insulted by his unkind remark, I decided to check the courage of my instructor.

Putting the aircraft into a spin and recovering out of it was considered to be the most dangerous and nerve-racking maneuver by the student pilots. This flight maneuver was so risky that we were taught to eject out of the cockpit if the spin did not recover from above ten thousand feet.

The ‘Spin’ included— rotation of the entire aircraft from nose to tail axis combined with the rapid fall towards the ground.

My new instructor thoroughly explained me about the procedure of entering and recovering out of the spin in the preflight briefing on the ground. According to the preflight briefing, he was supposed to put the aircraft into spin and I was to immediately initiate the recovery procedure upon hearing the command-, ‘Recover,—you have the controls.’

After takeoff, we climbed to twenty thousand feet in the training area in order to enter the spin. At twenty thousand feet, he reduced the speed by bringing the throttle full back to idle position and by gradually lifting the nose of the aircraft and holding on to the control stick with both hands till it started to buffet. The stall warning light flashed in the cockpit while I heard its beeping sound in my headset. He then moved the control stick to the right from the full back position and immediately pushed the right rudder with the force of his right leg.

The aircraft rotated after it dipped to the right, the spin fully stabilized after a couple of rotations. The aircraft, rotating to the

hung tightly onto our seats.

I took over the controls as soon as I heard the command-, ‘Recover Sissy,—you have the controls.’

Unhappy with the remark, I replied-, ‘Yes sir, I have the controls.’

Instead of immediately initiating the spinrecovery procedure as briefed on the ground, I maintained the spin by keeping the control stick back into the stomach with my both hands and by maintaining the pressure on the right rudder.

He again saidsaid-, ‘Recover-’ this time without the word Sissy, but I maintained the spin by keeping the pressure on the controls.

He shouted-, ‘I have the controls-,’ I ignored his command.

He shouted again and in panic this time-, ‘I have the controls.’

I kept my eyes on the altimeter, carefully watching the fast-declining altitude. As we

It was mandatory to eject if the spin did not recover by ten thousand feet above the ground. I took a calculated risk and gave him the time to recover the aircraft long before reaching ten thousand feet. I knew that I had given him a panic attack in checking his courage.

My instructor immediately recovered the aircraft out of the spin by pushing forward th the stick with the full force of both his hhands, then applying the opposite left ru rudder with the force of his left leg. The aaircraft stopped rotating and recovered in a dive, he gradually pulled back the sstick and added power as we leveled ooff above thirteen thousand feet.

T The instructor then turned my oxyggen to 100 percent and turned the air cconditioning ducts towards my face bby stretching his hand to my side of th the control panel. For me, that was a ggesture of acknowledging my courage.

H He then said with an awkward accent, ‘‘You are not a Sissy, you are an idiot.’

In my opinion, that was a better ccomment. I replied-, ‘Yes Sir-,’ aand smiled inside my oxygen mask.

Pakistan team have departed for England from Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, reported on Saturday.

According to details, the team will play series under captain Misbah-ul-Haq while as many as nine officials including team manager Intikhab Alam and coach Mickey Arthur are also accompanying the players.

Sources told that green shirts are visiting England first time after spot-fixing scandal whereas Mohammad Amir was seen hopeful of his best performance and took selfies in the plane.

A training camp would also be arranged in England for the players while they also got lectures regarding future

tours at Lahore’s National Cricket Academy.

The series starting from July 14 would be comprised of four tests, five one-day internationals, and one Twenty20.

Team manager Alam said that the message is clear for all the players and that is there will be no compromise on discipline and zero tolerance.

“Amir will have to follow strict code of conduct which stops him from meeting people and focus on cricket,” said Alam, who praised Amir’s conduct.
