CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER (CDC) | 701-723-3750
MAFB CDC offers full day care for children from six weeks to five years. Care must be requested online at MilitaryChildCare.com.

The Youth Center Program consists of Open Recreation, Sports, and the School Age Program. They provide care and activities for children in kindergarten through high school. School Age programs include Before School Care, After School Care, and Hourly Care. Care must be requested online at MilitaryChildCare.com.
FAMILY CHILD CARE PROGRAM (FCC) | 701-723-6662
Family Child Care is regular care of a child in the home of another family. FCC providers have been certified by the Mission Support Group Commander. Providers also offer child care for extended duty, medical appointments, deployments, and PCS. Certain situations do qualify for free child care. Check in with your local CDC or M&FRC for a list of local FCC providers and free programs.

NEW PARENT SUPPORT PROGRAM (NPSP) | 701-723-5096
The New Parent Support Program (NPSP) is a free service offered through Family Advocacy designed to help expectant parents and families with any child in the home from birth to three years of age. Something worth noting, you can use this benefit on your first child or your tenth child. The program is designed to assist parents with challenging and changing roles as mother, father, and family. It is a benefit you are entitled to receive. NPSP services are provided to enhance development of all family members, promote positive parent skills and to help maintain healthy families. Services are available for military members and eligible beneficiaries.
Choosing the right type of care for your child requires an investment of time. Use the online search tool, checklist, and other resources to help you make an informed decision.
When looking for an early childhood program, there are several types to choose from. You will want to take your family’s needs, preferences, and experiences into account and choose the type of care that is the best fit for you.

Begin your search for early childhood programs by using the free online search tool. Get customized results by adjusting criteria like location, hours of operation, and ages served. Visit programs in-person and talk with the providers. Use the Child Care Checklist as a guide to the most important things to look for and key questions to ask.
Check references and records for the programs you are considering. Ask for references from families who are currently using the program and families who have used the program in the past. When using the free online search tool, make sure to look over the program’s licensing status, inspection reports, and Bright & Early ND Quality Rating.
Licensing Status
Check to see if the program is licensed, registered, certified, or legally licensed-exempt. Also, see if the program’s license been suspended or revoked.
Inspection Reports
Look at each program’s inspection reports to see if the program has violated any health and safety requirements and if and how they fixed those violations. You can also see if there was a complaint filed against the program that was found to be valid.
Bright & Early ND Quality Rating
Bright & Early ND is North Dakota’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) designed to assess, improve, and communicate the level of quality of early childhood programs. We help families identify high-quality early childhood programs that build the foundation children need to thrive in school and in life.
Bright & Early ND uses a block system approach which includes four levels, or steps, of quality. Each step focuses on a component of quality care and must be demonstrated by the early childhood program before moving to the next step.
Bright & Early ND Quality Ratings are reliable and easy to understand. Look for the Bright & Early ND Quality Rating symbols to spot an early childhood program that is going above and beyond for the children in their care.

(CCAP)
• The Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) helps pay a portion of the cost of child care for working families or families in training or education programs.
• Families with low income who meet certain eligibility criteria qualify for the program.
Head Start and Early Head Start are child development programs serving children from birth to age five, expectant mothers, and families. The overall goal of Head Start is to increase the social ability of children in low-income families and children with disabilities, and improve the chances of success in school.
Both are federally funded programs and are in every state, territory, and many tribal communities. Families with incomes at or below the poverty level may be eligible for Head Start services.
Child Care Aware® of America offers child care fee assistance to eligible members of the military and DoD. Eligibility requirements are determined by each branch of service or agency. Visit the Fee Assistance page to find out if your branch or agency is covered.
PARENTS CHILD CARE RELIEF PROGRAM
This state matching fund program may assist qualifying parents of children ages birth to 36 months who work for participating employers.


Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides nutrition benefits to supplement the food budget of lower-income families so they can purchase healthy food and move towards self-sufficiency. Households or individuals with low income who meet certain requirements may be eligible for assistance based on income limits.
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a federal nutrition program that offers healthy food for proper growth and development. Assistance is available statewide for pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, and children younger than 5 years old.
Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) provides federal funds to nonresidential child care and adult care facilities to serve nutritious meals and snacks. The goal is to improve and maintain the health and nutritional status of children and adults in care while promoting the development of good eating habits.
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program is intended to move low-income families with children who are deprived of parental support or care from public assistance to self-sufficiency. TANF supports families by providing cash assistance along with work readiness, training, and job placement services.
Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provides health insurance coverage for children in families that earn too much to qualify for Medicaid yet cannot afford to purchase coverage. It is available to uninsured children age 18 and younger who live in families with qualifying incomes. Single 18-yearolds with eligible incomes may also apply.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps eligible families with home heating and weatherization costs. The program partially pays the cost of natural gas, electricity, propane, fuel oil, coal, wood, or other fuel sources.
The Program Also Covers:
• Weatherization services (insulation, weather stripping around doors and windows, etc.)
• Furnace cleaning, repair, and replacement
• Chimney cleaning and inspection
• Emergency assistance

We work to build the capacity of child care in North Dakota and ensure that children have the opportunity to play and learn in a safe and healthy environment. Bright and Early is North Dakota’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) designed to assess, improve, and communicate the level of quality of early childhood programs. Center-based child care programs operate with a similar structure to kindergarten classrooms, making them a good transition to the public school system. Center-based child care often uses organized programs, a curriculum, and opportunities for children to socialize with their peers.
Age Range: Infants through 11 years old

Child Care Assistance Program Eligible: Yes
In family child care homes, providers care for small groups of children in residential buildings. Often, this type of care has one or two caregivers and may offer non-traditional hours.
Setting: Private residence
Age Range: Infants through 11 years old

• Up to 7 children, of which no more than 3 may be under the age of 24 months, plus 2 additional school-age children.
• Maximum of 4 children under the age of 24 months, plus 2 school-age children.

The Education Office provides educational guidance and counseling, military testing and training to Airmen, families, and retirees.
The School Liaison (SL) Program Manager Office helps parents ease the impact of the mobile military lifestyle for their children. They provide information prior to a move, upon arrival and while stationed at an installation. One of their important roles is to connect families, schools and the military community in order to facilitate the educational transition and academic experience of military children. The Minot AFB School Liaison is also unique in that they are the contracting officer representative for the on-base bus contract, which operates annually from November to April. They are also leads for the North Dakota MIC3 Interstate Compact program which lists a set of rules that function to ease the educational transitions of school-aged military-connected students in public schools and DoD STARBASE, a STEAM program that provides 25 hours of hands-on, minds-on, high-tech discovery and inquire-based activities to fifth grade students. The SL is also a point of contact for free, confidential counseling services through the Military & Family Life Counseling Program (M&FLC).

The resources in the Thrive Homeschool Guide represent a small offering of what is available to homeschooling families. While not exhaustive, these resources are a great place to start when beginning homeschooling or after a PCS or when looking to get connected with the homeschool community.

MPS serves approximately 8,027 students annually, with 11 elementary schools, four middle schools, two high schools, one Head Start Program, and one alternative campus spread throughout the city. The Minot Area Workforce Academy offers courses for community members & high school students including commercial driving, early childhood development, welding, automotive, and medical training.
Burdick Job Corps has helped thousands of young people with their education and training needs, which has led to promising careers. Students can prepare for today’s workforce with training in health occupations, office administration, training in welding, facilities maintenance, carpentry, food service, general service technician (auto), and advanced career training at Minot State University. Students also work on obtaining their GED or high school diploma at Job Corps. It’s all free!

Provides free short-term, non-medical counseling for service members and their families. Services are confidential and private, except for duty-to-warn situations.
The mental health clinic is part of the base medical group and provides a wide variety of prevention and treatment services, including drug and alcohol abuse assessment and treatment. The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is designed to provide support to military family members with special needs. EFMP is a mandatory enrollment program that protects federal entitlements and military benefits of special needs family members.

The MAFB Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) support military, civilians, and family members in achieving short and long-term employment, by referring for education/training, and obtaining career goals in the private and public sectors. The M&FRC provides comprehensive services to ensure the Total Force is equipped with adequate knowledge and assistance to aid in their job search. Services include:
• Classes and individual consultation on career planning and personal development, resume writing, interviewing skills and all other phases of the job search process
• Resource centers offer guided access to computers, laser printers, internet information on careers, jobs, and the development of job search skills, as well as local and long distance job listings in both the public and private sectors
• Individual career counseling and planning as well as career assessments and interpretation are available by appointment at M&FRCs.
The Department of the Air Force offers reimbursements for re-licensure, re-certificationand small business costs for dependent spouses. This program provides events for families who have a member currently deployed, returned home in the past 30 days or preparing to go in the next 30 days. These events are provided at no cost to families. Please contact the Military & Family Readiness Center for upcoming events.
COMMANDER’S KEY SUPPORT PROGRAM (CKSP)
Key Support Liaisons (KSL) are volunteers within your spouses’ unit that are appointed by the Commander and serve as a resource for Air Force families, serving as a link between unit leadership and families and providing peer-to-peer support. If you are unsure who your KSL is, please contact the Military & Family Readiness Center.
The MAFB SAPR offices provides 24/7 assistance, advocacy, support, and empowerment to those who have experienced sexual assault and harassment and to prevent sexual violence in our community through education and intervention.
MINOT AFB SPOUSES CLUB
The MAFB Spouses Club is a non-profit organization established as a 501(c)4. They support military families through volunteerism, social engagements, and charitable contributions. The Spouses Club is a joint club that welcomes retiree, enlisted, and officer spouses.
MAFB THRIFT SHOP COMMISSARY | 701-723-4559
The MAFB Thrift Store is owned and operated by the MAFB Spouses Club (MSC). Proceeds from the MAFB Thrift Store are used to help the MSC award scholarships to military spouses and dependent children, give charitable grants to our community as well as support our military spouses through monthly activities. Stop in and ask for details. Volunteering at the MAFB Thrift Store is a great way to connect to the MAFB community and other spouses!
The commissary is the military grocery store. Base commissaries are operated by Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) at installations stateside and around the world. Active duty and retired, Reserve and Guard (on orders), and family members with proper military ID can purchase food and other items at cost with no sales tax. Commissaries are required by law to sell items at prices set only high enough to recover item cost, with no profit or overhead factored into item price. Because the commissary charges you what it costs them, prices will vary from commissary to commissary, depending on local costs. You will see a 5% surcharge covers the operational costs – cashier’s salaries, electricity, etc. MAFB Commissary also “click-to-go” options.

The legal office offers walk-in services for notaries and powers of attorney. The drafting of wills and advice on personal civil legal matters are by appointment only. Legal professionals can advise on matters such as financial affairs; family law to include marriage or divorce; immigration; Service Members Civil Relief Act; and wills. Attorneys, however, cannot give advice on behalf of a third-party, criminal proceedings, or grievances made against the government or affiliates.
The Air Force Base Legal Assistance website is an additional resource for military members. This website is an invaluable resource with information on a multitude of common legal issues.
Additionally, the website allows members to fill out power of attorney worksheets in the convenience of their own home, which in turn speeds up their legal office visit. Just be sure to copy the 8-digit ticket number accurately so when you come in we can pull up your power of attorney worksheet.
MINOT AFB FINANCE SERVICES | 701-723-3309
The 5 BW Finance Office offers 1 on 1 finance appointments Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. but is closed on Federal Holidays, AFGSC Family Days, and Wing Training. Customers can also request a call back through the Comptroller Services Portal (CSP). The CSP enables Airmen to submit customer service requests related to Military Pay, Civilian Pay, and Travel Pay, through a simple online process. The site is secure and fully protects Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

The MAFB Chaplain Corps while serving as a visible reminder of the Holy, the Team Minot Chaplain Corps staff provides spiritual care and the opportunity for Air Force members and their families to exercise their constitutional right to freedom of religion. Through religious accommodation, spiritual fitness, and leadership advisement, Chaplains and Religious Affairs Airmen “care for Airmen, Guardians, and families more than anyone thinks possible”.

The McAdoo Fitness Center has a wide range of activities no matter where you are on your fitness journey. Utilize the state of the art equipment, enhance your workout with an available personal trainer, or join an exciting competition or intramural program. Plus, take advantage of the 1/8 mile elevated, indoor running track, racquetball courts, rock wall, family work out room, basketball courts, and more. The Fitness Center is also responsible for the all-seasons indoor 1/4 covered track. Be sure to check out the calendar for a wide variety of monthly fitness classes and events.
Minot Air Force Base is home to two major Air Force units: the 5th Bomb Wing and the 91st Missile Wing. The 5th Bomb Wing and 91st Missile Wing are Air Force Global Strike Command units. The 5th Bomb Wing is the host wing.
5th Bomb Wing Mission: Known by its nickname, the Warbirds, the 5th Bomb Wing and its fleet of B-52H Stratofortress bombers serve as part of the Air Force’s conventional and strategic combat force as AEF warriors. The men and women of the wing are capable of flying anywhere around the world and delivering a wide range of precisionguided bombs and munitions. Excellence is the daily standard and is echoed by its motto, “Guardians of the Upper Realm.”
91st Missile Wing Mission: As one of the Air Force’s three operational intercontinental ballistic missile units, the 91st Missile Wing, whose members are known as the Rough Riders, are responsible for strategic deterrence by operating, maintaining and securing a fleet of 150 Minuteman III missiles located in underground launch facilities positioned in a 8,500 square mile missile complex located in the northwest part of the state.

The Minot Area Chamber Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is a nonprofit organization formed when the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce and the Minot Area Development Corporation (MADC) merged into one organization on January 1, 2021. The organization exists to promote business, leadership, and growth for the Minot area while facilitating business attraction, expansion, retention, and advocacy to diversify and strengthen the Minot area. The goal of the new organization is to do more for the community with the same amount of revenue that was collected by the organizations separately.
