HONOREE COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

Founded in 2008, The Social Justice Learning institute (SJLI) is a nonprofit organization in Inglewood, CA dedicated to improving the education, health, and well-being of youth and communities of color by empowering individuals to enact social change through research, training, and community mobilization.

Through their theory of change, SJLI uses education as a tool to build and develop future leaders and works towards transforming neighborhood conditions by improving the built environment and increasing access to essential resources that enable residents to be healthy and thrive.

As an organization that values the ideas, voice, and leadership of their youth and community members, SJLI empowers residents to identify and challenge systems of injustice and advocate for policies that directly impact their lives.
