Once you have the right scanner that meet our system requirements, scan the QR code on the right and the Minfos website will appear. Do we need additional software? You will need to do the following: • Setup to use eRx or MediSecure Note Integration with ePrescribing via MediSecure is in development and will be available soon • Setup a backup service for your Minfos data – contact Minfos to find out more

How do I know if my local GP is ready for ePrescribing? The PDS barcode on the paper script indicates that the GP is set up with eRx or MediSecure already, meaning they have the capability to transmit ePrescriptions. If the PDS barcode is missing, the doctor might not be setup properly. Notify eRx or MediSecure of these doctors and they will contact the practice.

Do I need a HPI-O? Yes, in order to be able to use ePrescribing, a HPI-O number (Healthcare Provider Identifier for Organisation) is required and you will need to connect Minfos to the HI service contact Minfos support. If you are connected to My Health Record, no further action is required. If you are not currently connected to My Health Record, you will need to: • Set up a PRODA (Provider Digital Access) account • Register your organisation and request a HPI-O number through PRODA For further enquiries please contact our support team on 1300 887 418 or minfos_support@minfos.com.au For more information on HPI-O click here.

Can I send a SMS notification from Minfos to a patient’s mobile device? When an ePrescription with repeats is dispensed, the patient will receive the token via SMS or email. This is handled by the PDS. You can send an SMS to your patients to advise them when their prescription is ready. Talk to us today to find out more about how you can save time and add value to your business by using Minfos SMS Connect - our SMS messaging service.

Dispensing questions Can a patient request their ePrescription be changed to a paper prescription or their paper prescription to be changed to an ePrescription? Can ePrescriptions expire? Yes, the same rules apply to ePrescriptions as paper-based prescriptions. The ePrescription cannot be downloaded from the PDS after the expiry date.

Will residential or aged care facilities be able to supply ePrescriptions? Yes, the ePrescribing framework allows electronic charts to be submitted via a PDS. Note For more information, refer to your electronic charts provider.

How will my patients obtain their repeats for an ePrescription? If the ePrescription has a repeat, a new token will be sent to the patient via SMS or email after you dispense the item. Your patient will need to keep the token sent to them to fulfill their repeats.

How do I keep ePrescriptions on file for a customer? A paper copy of the token can be printed and kept with the customer’s paper prescriptions. Alternatively, when the customer requests their prescriptions, you can refer to the patient’s script history to identify if the script is an ePrescription.

What happens if our pharmacy forward/direct dispenses? When a customer presents their mobile phone displaying the token, you can scan it straight into the dispense form. It is not necessary to print a paper copy of the token. You can scan the screen to populate the ePrescription directly into the dispense form.

How can we receive an ePrescription via email or SMS? Tokens can be forwarded by the patient, to your pharmacy’s email address or mobile number. The same process can be used for obtaining the token from a patient’s mobile device. You can scan the screen to populate the ePrescription directly into the dispense form or print a copy of the token using the Token Scanner or from the computer you are viewing the email on.

What if I only use MediSecure? Integration with ePrescribing via MediSecure is in development and will be available soon.

When will My Script List or Active Script List be available? This is currently in development and is expected to available towards the end of the year. Under this functionality, patients can authorise pharmacies, doctors and authorised third-parties to access their active scripts. The patient has the ability to grant short-term or ongoing access to this information. Once a patient grants a pharmacy access, the pharmacy can dispense the requested items and view the active script list. Note This functionality will not be available in the June 2020 release (Minfos 5.12.2), however it will become available at a later stage.
