Dear Fellow Toastmasters,

Here is it. Our Club Newsletter. It is not a food cooked over high heat. It is a natural blossoming of our creative urges. There has been an initiative active throughout the last two – three years in our club. There have been continuous efforts by our leaders, our current Area Director V. C Mashood is one of them, to tap our power to perceive, observe and explore.

Our club, like all other Toastmasters club, is an incarnation of self-respect, love, affection, sensibility, responsibility and compassion that has put our members into a “State of flow” and has made them genuinely wan to learn. I would say that we all are already on board the creativity and this is the time of the natural blossoming of our creative urges. Once tapped, the spontaneous overflow of creativity keeps happening unless you get lazy and tightens the tap.

So, keep the tap open. Let the spontaneous overflow happen.

This issue of our newsletter is undoubtedly a success of our teamwork. Relentless hard work of many a member has made this flower unfold with full of vigor and sprit.

Frankly speaking, the editorial team comprising our President Noufal Murchandi, VPPR Ansar KN, is in a celebrity mood now for a simple reason that the newsletter is already in your hands. We feel joyous, jubilant and jolly. Moreover, gile and curious, Wondering how the readers feels once it is in their hands.

District leadership always ponder upon questions: whom we are representing? Whom are we responsible to as stakeholders? The answers to these questions are simple and straightforward – CLUBS. Every leader should be aware that it is the club experience that benefited them to scale high. Accordingly, the onus is to give that experience to everyone who joins the club. Let the lifechanging experience of the Toastmasters program gets imparted to all members. The District mission is nothing but a byproduct of Club mission.

Mindtune Waves Toastmasters club has great momentum and having the inherent advantage of a parent organization. We should be able to build on the same as Dr. Smedely said: “Let us share the benefits we have gained for ourselves with others.”

Members need to have full ownership of their learning and their progress to be successful. The more time spent among Toastmasters developing skills and practicing, the more we gain in confidence and ability. To quote from Indian ethos, “we get back ten times what we put into.”

The first Quarter for District 116 as of 30th September 18 looks good. (Subject to Final TI data) We had 90% proxy for the international meeting, 100% training for District officers. 97% of the Clubs had their Officers trained; Members renewals are above 48 out of 50 (Initial reports indicate globally on the top), 64 out of 65 clubs renewed for the new term and members educational credits are soaring.

A word of caution: we should not be complacent and should continue the momentum in building more clubs, adding more members, conducting quality programs, achieving educational credits and much more. As I repeatedly state “We have to internalize with pride that the legacy we are creating as a new Toastmasters District will ensure a better future for generations to come. Every one of us to take responsibility for growth in stride.”

Toastmasters success is all about commitment to self-development, faith in the program, support to fellow members and the aspiration to become better individuals.

“The art of communication is the art of leadership” I read this quote long back but understood the true meaning after I joined Toastmasters. Communication and leadership are two sides of a coin, these are two assets that some are born with it and some learn and develop.

Have you ever noticed the process of a pupa transforming into a beautiful butterfly which is known as metamorphosis. It is a very impressive process – from eggs to larvae and into pupae, before unfurling gloriously out of their cocoons and spreading their majestic wings. But is the process so easy? No! it has to struggle a lot before it gets it wings and start to fly.

Likewise in humans, it is our faith in developing our communication and leadership skills through Toastmasters activities. The more you indulge and challenge yourself, the stronger and beautiful your wings will be, and you will fly high.

Toastmasters prepares one to face their own challenges and obstacles and start transforming from the inside out. Toastmasters is the platform which transforms you and helps you to shed the fear of public speaking and gives you the wings of confidence.

As a Division Director I would be very happy if I can give the wings of confidence to every member of my division. But can I do it alone No! I have a strong team of 450 members. Who all are working hard to make my dream a reality.

I wish all the best to Mindtunes Toastmasters Club members wish they get their wings and fly high.

VC Mashood CC, ALB Club Founder President , Area 5 Director, Division B Hearty Congratulations to the members and leaders of Mindtune Waves Toastmasters Club for grabbing the Smedley and Dazzling membership awards. “You all have done a wonderful job.”

With great pride and Honor, I am addressing my home club members as Area Director where I have been continuing as a member since formation of the club. This club is the most prominent club in Qatar, it has a history, reputation and good track record. Others are always looking at the club actions. Appreciate the members for the participation in all programs conducted by District and Division, Thanks to the Division leaders, other senior Toastmasters for your modules, support and guidance to the clubs and its members in their journey for improving skills.

Mindtune Waves Club is always known with their creativity and innovative programs, making an impact in the public and creating history. Malayalam Speech Reality Show by the club in association with Area 5 is really an innovative concept and will be an occasion to spread the message of importance of public speaking to entire community in Qatar.

As you know during the first three months of the year we had a busy schedule with Club Officers Installations, Training Programs, Emergence and New Member Orientation Programs. I believe that Club Executive Committee should educate the members about value and the benefits what they learned from these programs so that the members will be encouraged to participate in the club activities without any pressure. It is only by getting involved in these programs they will be able to derive the maximum benefit from Toastmasters. Participating in Area, Division and District Programs is also equally important as it will provide the necessary exposure for their growth and encourage them to step out of their comfort zone while promoting networking. Our founder, Dr. Smedley believed that individuals needed a positive friendly atmosphere to grow and develop.

Toastmasters introduced Pathways which provides more opportunities for leadership roles and innovative way of presentation as Toastmasters believe that the leadership skills are learnt best by “doing”. I congratulate the club members for achieving many levels in pathways, which shows the dedication and commitments towards achieving goals and request others to be proactive to do the projects without any pressure.

District 116, the newest District of Toastmasters based in Qatar promise many opportunities, which needs to be utilized productively.

As evidenced by the accomplishments made by our club hitherto, Mindtune waves Toastmasters club has achieved high fame and reputation among the Toastmasters Fraternity in Qatar.

With great pride, I would say that our club has never been a

monthly twice-meeting place whereas it has been a community where members get motivated on daily basis. The club has been successful in making its members full time workers for the development of their own leadership and communication skill.

The Club Newsletter that you are going through now is a best example for how the club works as a team. Articles of any particular member have not flooded the newsletter as it happens sometimes. Majority of the club members are represented in the newsletter in different ways.

These accomplishments are the result of the daily efforts the Club Excom especially the club VPPR have put into. I urge everyone to participate in publishing the next newsletter also by staring doing attempts to transform your thoughts into your own words.

Let us be known as pioneers in the toastmaster fraternity.

Whatever we do will be handed over as our legacy. It is my earnest request to everyone that you all may come forward to leave behind a valuable legacy to those who may take over the club in the years, which are to come.

Every human who born so freely in this earth is bounded to some so called boundary limits. The aims of mindtune- hear your song training is that a person should be mentally, physically, spiritually, socially and financially relieved in all sense. And the person should be able to lead a free, happy and satisfied life. The mind tune training enables a person to recognize his vast and extra ordinary talents in accomplishing the life at its heights. When we are telling about the toastmasters club, it makes use of these inborn talents and abilities of a person and leading every individual through a furnished personality through their globally known personality development activities. As these two groups aim at the overall developments and empowerment of each individuals. The elaboration of these two groups showcases a model message to the public.

I gladly take this opportunity to thank each and every one who was behind this innovative and revolutionary idea. These movements are hereby going to work together in one platform. We have the capability of spreading this model venture whole around the world and gain effective and fruitful results.

I am very much happy and proud that we have a lot of eminent and apt leaders here in Doha to take up this revolutionary venture. If we look back and analyses history this was the situation of all great movements. Letâ€&#x;s hope for the best and pray for this model movement to be a part of history.

Finally I must say that it will be quite sure, Doha is the land where this movement begins. Also the Qatar Mindtune Ecowaves and Mindtune Waves Toastmasters Club will be marked in golden letters in the history.

A passenger requires guidance...

R ailway stations are one of the places people visit with an intent. Some have journeys to embark on and destinations to disembark, while others make random visits.

The random visitors are onlookers. They are unintentional visitors and donâ€&#x;t require any guidance, whereas passengers may require guidance for almost everything related to their travel.

Where should he stand at a station to catch the exact compartment on

which he has to travel, is an important question for a traveller. Travellers come to the station with hundreds of questions in their minds and the inexperienced travellers often seek the support of the experienced ones, even for the minutest of the details about their travel. Even a moment of delay in gathering the right information may result in missing the train.

Are you a traveler or an onlooker? If you are an onlooker, a bystander, just a watcher, you have nothing to do but to wander along, go around and get lost. You may remain astray the full life.

Living on earth with an aim and purpose necessitates many things. Of course, mentoring and guidance comes first of all such necessities. Open your eyes! The universe, the nature and the whole surroundings can be seen manifesting into mentors. Everything in the world happens systematically. Everything that happens is reason bound. And the phenomena of all thatâ€&#x;s happening in this universe teach us many lessons. So, observe the universe, you will find a great mentor in it.

Many things that we encounter in our daily lives impart lessons, quite like personal mentoring. In my case, when I was 22, and at the end of my graduation, one of my professors, having identified my potential, advised me to concentrate on education and not to get married soon. He wanted me to study further and tread the path of talking and writing. But fortunately or unfortunately, I was the first person to get married in my batch. Dear friends, I failed to even understand that the Professor was trying to mentor me for my own good.

8 years later, in Saudi Arabia, another scholar advised me to stop searching for jobs and concentrate on reading and writing. It was at a farewell meeting we had arranged prior to his departure to Qatar for good. But again, call it habit or fate, I arrived in Qatar much before the scholar.

In both incidents, I failed my undeclared mentors due to the miseries I was in.

It was in January 2017, I became a part of the toastmastersâ€&#x; fraternity. All through my journey as a toastmaster, the fraternity itself has been my main mentor. It transformed me a lot. It has made me a hard working person. It was last Tuesday that I delivered my project 2 speech from the pathway level 2. I reached home after the meeting at 10.30 pm. You may not believe that as soon as I entered my home, I started googling for my next speech.

Many are there in my list of mentors who have been mentoring me unknowingly, though we have never been identified as mentor and mentee. They are my favorite people in the Toastmasters fraternity. I observe the way they do things, the way they speak and I just try to emulate.

I am now looking forward to having the whoâ€&#x;s who of Toastmasters as my mentors.

The problem is that I am a passenger with a destination in mind, but to reach that destination I have seek the guidance and support of many an experienced traveler all through the journey.

LENDING EARS

L istening is one of the important skill each one of us should posses.

When

we speak we only speak what we know, but while listening we learn many things. It not only we learn many things, listening can give a sense of relief to someone in pain.

A few days back in my office, our office boy as usual came to my cabin with cup of tea in the morning. Everyday he comes into my cabin with a loud „Good Morning Sir‟ and I used to ask him How are you? He replies with a gentle smile „All Good Sir‟ and walks away. That morning I noticed someone entering my office with tea but no Good Morning, that was shocking to me I looked up and found the same person in front of me. I looked at him with my eyes starring, I noticed his eyes were red and tears were just about to roll down, his eyes were faded and the face was dark, not because of his color but because of some pain inside. I left my chair and stood up walked towards him and put my hands over his shoulders and asked him to sit on the visitors chair in my cabin. I asked him to speak out, Without even a fraction of second his tears rolled out of his eyes and was not able to speak, I gave him a hug and he started speaking about his pain, he did not want any favour from me nor from the company, but only needed lending ears to throw away his pain. He threw his pain in my ears for about 7 minutes. I did not utter a word, I just listened, listened and listened with a noise

Umm, Umm & Umm. On completely hearing his painful story I noticed a sense of relief on his face, his eyes were about back to normal, the dark color on his face turned to brown and he was absolutely normal. He himself stood up and went away with a load „Thank youâ€&#x;. After listening his pain it took 2 -3 minutes for me to get back to normal.

The seven minutes of listening has brought his mind to peace, How many of us have two minutes to listen to any one? If we can listen to someone, who is in

would be a great relief to someone as well a great sense of satisfaction to ourself. Let us lend our ears to someone to throw their pain.

Later on I came to know that this boy had approached some others also to speak but they refused to listen saying they are busy. If we cannot give our lending ears for five minutes to the needy then what can we give ???

The path I have selected is Leadership Development. The systematic and organized pathways structure gives an ocean of opportunities to mold our personality and leadership. I have already given 4 speeches and now on the edge of completing my level 1 in pathways. The 2 hour meeting in every fortnight gives a special energy and aroma to focus on our goals and life targets.

At last I was blessed with the opportunity to attend the memorable session Ringside with Ramona, the world champion of public speaking 2018 on 19thOctober 2018 at Doha Marriot Hotel. It was a real and fascinating experience as Ramona J Smith won the title by winning over around 30,000 participants worldwide. The take away message of the program was, approach any competition with an objective to learn and have fun.

Toastmasters remind us our school life when we received thunderous applauses, medals, trophies and certificate of appreciations. Here in toastmasters, you will see only appreciation. There is no one to make you feel bad. People are here to clap for you, hug you, shake your hands, appreciate your efforts, applaud your achievements, congratulate you for your progress. Toastmasters is a warehouse where trophies, laurels, awards and mementos are stored in abundance. You have to do only one thing. Start doing. People are here to make you win.

POWER OF WRITING GOAL SETTING. SAEED SALMAN How we can achieve our goal in our life? .

What is the vision of life? What is the purpose behind it? How can we improve the quality of our life? Answers of such questions give the solution to find out better meaning of life.

Some people dreams help them to become a role model to the rest of the world, while some others dreams throw them behind. To achieve our goals or dreams, it requires continuous focus and proper measurement in terms of progress.

The focus happens when the three major ingredients, time, energy and emotion are put together to a particular subject or event or thing. To get focused we need a clear vision in each area of life. To get a clear vision we need a written goal setting. In the absence of clear vision, we get lost mainly in three areas.

First one: Fear of Failure, All human beings need to avoid pain, when we believe something lead to pain we focus on it. And we feel it and experience it as it has already happened to us.

Second one: Immediate pleasure Our attention will go to anything that gives us immediate pleasure. Like, having something to eat, drink, smoke, internet etc. or something that may give us immediate accomplishment 3rd Area: Other people’s demand.

What I want? This question‟s answer gives the exact target, the result, the outcome what we want to achieve in our life, where we want to reach financially, physically or spiritually etc. this gives the clarity the clarity means power.

2nd Question Why I want?

What is the purpose of my vison or out come?

This question‟s answer gives emotional power to follow through, the purpose is differing from person to person, if we have compelling reason to get our target, it is very easy to achieve the target.

3rd Question.

How I can achieve it?

Why is so important to write the goal?

These question‟s answer give‟s the root map to achieve the goal. What specific massive actions must I take in order to achieve this outcome?

There are many ways to achieve any result. This gives flexibility, choices

Why is so important to write the goal?

There is a proverb When you talk about something it is a dream, when u visual it is exciting, when you plan it, it is possible when u schedule it. It is real, only when schedule it.

The most powerful thing in the world is the power of choice, at any instant any one can choose whether to be depressed or happy, there is no barrier such as age limits, family background, financial status, colour of skin or geographical territory but it depends on the power of individual decision. By focusing on our strength which increases our confidence and confidence gives the competence hence competence leads to successful life. If we are competent without having confidence, then never ever be successful in life.

By organizing our thoughts and emotions towards our strength we can increase our confidence to achieve our goal and impossible become possible.
