What is unconscious bias? And what is the impact on the roles and performance of women in the transportation industry? The University of California San Francisco (UCSF) says unconscious biases are social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form outside their own conscious awareness. Everyone has their own unconscious beliefs about different social and identity groups, and these biases come from people needing to categorize each other in relation to social norms.
