CHRISTMAS MESSAGE BELOVED PEOPLE OF GOD! Rejoice for the Lord Jesus is here! Our Christmas may not be as joyful as in the past because of the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be less noise. It will be more somber and more simple. But this situation brings us back to the first Christmas in Bethlehem. In the quiet of midnight, in a stable and in a poor manger, the Son of the Most High God, the long awaited successor of King David, and Savior of the world was born. Angels announced his birth and poor shepherds visited him. Our Christmas this year recalls the simplicity and the poverty of the birth of Christ. We might not have gatherings in the streets and firecrackers. But our hearts must rejoice because the Son of God has come down from heaven to dwell with us and be with us. Rejoice, beloved People of God! Jesus, our Messiah and Savior has come! Your gift to him on his birthday is your heart, a heart to follow and serve him. My prayers and best wishes to you and to all your loved ones!

A blessed Christmas to one and all! +Orlando B. Cardinal Quevedo, O.M.I. Archbishop Emeritus of Cotabato

“Cotabato City is now officially part of BARMM”

“Turnover” over-emphasized

SECRETARY of Interior and Local Government (SILG) Eduardo Año told the press Tuesday that Cotabato City is now officially under the supervision of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). He reiterated it was clearly stated in the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) that Cotabato City, which is an independent city, is now officially under

the supervision of the regional government. This includes programs and projects, documents, properties and assets, and movable properties and records of the DILG Cotabato field office, including that of 63 barangays. “Ang tinutukoy natin dito ay buong Cotabato City [...] Ang ating Cotabato City ngayon ay ganap nang kasapi ng BARMM,” Año stressed.

THE turnover Tuesday may just as well been overemphasized and was much understood to mean the entire local government powers and administrative machinery of Cotabato City were placed under the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). But sources privy to details, said the document signed by Secretary Eduardo Año of the Department of the Interior
