Other Wisconsin credits include starring as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing and Regan in King Lear at American Players Theatre, as well as new play development at Ten Chimneys. Sara is proud to join Milwaukee Repertory Theater afer graduatng from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BFA in Actng and a minor in Iranian Studies. She has performed in UCSB productons including Dance Naton, Strange Birds, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Crucible. Sara has traveled to Prague for the Prague Summer Shakespeare Intensive and to Verona, Italy for the Verona Shakespeare Fringe Festval. She recently showcased her Senior Honors Project—a solo performance mixing Farsi and Richard III.

Ayad Akhtar Playwright
Ayad was born in New York City and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a novelist and author of American Dervish, published in over 20 languages worldwide. His play Disgraced won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and was nominated for the 2015 Tony Award for best play. His plays The Who & The What and The Invisible Hand received Of-Broadway runs and are currently being produced around the world. Ayad was listed as the most produced playwright for the 2015/16 Season by American Theatre. As a screenwriter, he was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Screenplay for The War Within. He has received fellowships from MacDowell, Djerassi, the Sundance Insttute, Ucross, and Yaddo, where he currently serves as a Board Director. He is also a Board Trustee at PEN/America, NYTW and Milwaukee Repertory Theater. Ayad is under commission by Milwaukee Rep for a stage adaptaton of American Dervish as well as a new play yet to be named.
Mark Clements Director
Mark is an award-winning internatonal theater director whose work has appeared in over 100 major theaters throughout Europe and the United States. He began his tenure as Artstc Director with the 2010/11 Season by bringing musicals to the mainstage, startng a traditon that is now the highlight of every season. Mark has directed over 30+ productons at Milwaukee Rep including World and American Premieres, and his own adaptaton of the current A Christmas Carol. Prior to joining Milwaukee Rep, Mark served as an Associate Artstc Director for several UK theater companies, most notably, Artstc Director for the award-winning Derby Playhouse in the UK where he directed over 40 productons. He has been nominated for an Olivier Award and several UK Theatre Awards, and has won three Barrymore Awards in Philadelphia. He created and directed the West End and UK Natonal Tour of Soul Train Mark is currently working with Ayad Akhtar on adaptng his critcally acclaimed novel American Dervish for the stage to make its World Premiere in an upcoming season.

Since 2013, Chad Bauman has led Milwaukee Rep through a period of extraordinary growth, transforming it into one of the naton’s most prolifc regional theaters with over 700 performances annually. Under his leadership, the Rep eliminated debt, doubled its endowment, grew net assets from $16 million to over $100 million and opened the state-of-the-art Associated Bank Theater Center. Previously he served as Associate Executve Director of Arena Stage opening the Mead Center for American Theater in 2010. A passionate advocate for the arts, he serves on several local boards, holds an MFA in Producing from CalArts and is pursuing a doctorate in organizatonal leadership from North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
