JULY

July 2: Fourth of July Ice Cream Social | 2:00 PM | M Milwaukee Catholic Home

In celebration of the Fourth of July holiday, join us for a good ol’ fashion Ice Cream Social on our beautiful patio! In addition to the ice cream, enjoy live music, patio games and sunshine. In the event of inclement weather, we’ll be indoors.

July 6: Growing Gardens Workshop | 10:30 AM | C Catholic Ecology Center

Enjoy a hands-on gardening experience this summer at the Catholic Ecology Center! This class focuses on sustainable growing practices and the basics of home gardening. Each workshop will have an optional take-home-project portion for the corresponding session. These projects include planting seeds for your garden, learning how to make your own natural herbicides and pesticides, and crafting your own inhome composting system! July 9: Canoeing Adventure | 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM | C Catholic Ecology Center

Come for a great day of adventure on the Rubicon River! This guided canoe trip will take you from the CEC down and up the winding Rubicon River past forests, wetlands and amazing sandbars. CEC staff will teach you the how to’s of canoeing while seeing amazing ecological treasures along the way. Bring a bagged lunch to enjoy on the shores of the river during our adventure. Two people per canoe.

Space is limited. Canoes, paddles, life jackets and dry bags included. Register at catholicecologycenter.org/events.

July 15: Summer Singers | 7:00 PM |

M Milwaukee Catholic Home

Join us for a delightful summer evening as the Summer Singers take the stage! This 16-member group features fourpart choral music along with talented soloists. Their repertoire includes songs from the 1940’s and 50’s — songs everyone will recognize and enjoy. They have fun in their Hawaiian shirts and never take themselves too seriously! The bar will open at 6:30 PM and feature a signature summer drink among the usual offerings (non-alcoholic options always available).

Summer in Milwaukee is synonymous with festivals! This Milwaukee County Historical Society presentation will take you back to the origins of the city’s passion for festivals which goes back to the mid-19th century. From the earliest Sangerfests and Turnfest to the major festivals of today, you’ll learn about the inspiration behind “Milwaukee City of Festivals!” Enter to win 2 tickets to the Festival of your choice!

Aug. 5: Tour of the Milwaukee Historical Society | 1:30pm | T Trinity Woods

Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Historical Society collections. The tour begins with a staff introduction to the Milwaukee County Historical Society, and the tour continues to the archive and collections for a brief explanation of our collection scope and preservation efforts. The tour also stops at the Research Library where attendees will learn about the county records, photographs and much more!

Aug. 9: Bobblehead Museum and Discourse Coffee | 1:00 PM |

Join us on a most interesting excursion as we experience two unique and fun Milwaukee venues! We’ll start with a visit to a one-of-a-kind museum with the world’s largest collection of bobbleheads from all genres and periods, with dozens of exhibits related to the history and making of bobbleheads! We’ll then head right next door to Discourse Coffee, described as “A motley crew of baristas, bartenders, artists, cooks, scientists, music nerds, and renegades … who pen liquid stories that celebrate the people, places, and things that occupy our hearts.” Bobbleheads and craft coffee – an unbeatable combination!

Aug. 13: Milwaukee Letter Carriers Band | 7:00 PM | M Milwaukee Catholic Home

The Milwaukee Letter Carrier’s Band is a 20-30 piece volunteer band. With music ranging from Big Band favorites to hits of the 50s, 60s and 70s, their performance will walk you through decades of great music that will most certainly stir up a few memories. They take you from Benny Goodman to The Beatles, from Broadway to Chicago, from Marvin Hamlisch to Stevie Wonder … all in an hour!

Aug. 22: Dog Days | 2:00 PM | M Milwaukee Catholic Home

They say that “Every dog must have his/her day” … and we couldn’t agree more! We invite you and your “best friend” to join us on our patio for some doggone fun! We’ll have a doggy parade, doggy swimming pool, “show and tell,” and all pups will receive a very special “doggy bag” and award! We’ll learn about Pet Therapy, including demonstrations. Root Beer Floats will be available for the two-legged type. All dogs must be up to date on their immunizations, leashed and wellbehaved/socialized.

Aug. 28: Clare Gardens Farm Trip | 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM | M Milwaukee Catholic Home

Join us for a lovely day at Clare Gardens, our organic farm located in Neosho, WI. Upon arrival, you’ll learn the history and current status and practices of the farm from Clare Gardens Farm Manager, Anna Metscher. We’ll then enjoy a farminspired lunch and finish up the day with a tour. The tour to the different gardens and highlights can be by bus or you can choose to walk. Either way, you’ll have the opportunity to get up close with the variety of vegetables, flowers, chickens and more. The bus will depart MCH at 10:00 AM, returning around 3:00 PM.

Aug. 31: Pianist Daniel Beliavsky | 2:00pm | T Trinity Woods

You will enjoy a wonderful presentation of exceptional talent and passion as Daniel performs classical pieces for you with a level of intensity and devotion that is both engaging and exciting to experience! The American pianist, Daniel Beliavsky, holds degrees from Columbia College and New York University. Join us for an evening of delightful music as we welcome Daniel back to Trinity Woods.

Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24 & Oct. 1, 8: Dr. Tim Crain – Russia: From the Romanov Dynasty to Present Day | 7:00 PM | M Milwaukee Catholic Home

From the Romanov dynasty to the present day, Russia has undergone significant transformations. Today, it remains a key player in international affairs, with a complex political and social landscape. Join us for this 6-part series as Dr. Crain takes us through the twists and turns of the evolution and history of Russia.

Sept. 4: Craig & Patty Siemsen Folk Duo | 7:00 PM | M Milwaukee Catholic Home

The husband/wife team of Craig and Patty offer shows that combine their unique approaches to music - Patty being classically trained, and Craig being mostly self-taught. Both Craig and Patty have reputations for stellar song writing and inspiring interpretations of others’ work. Patty and Craig have been called “an acoustically good marriage” by Madison’s Capitol Times. Today, they continue to create and record original songs as well as their own variations on timeless pieces that often span the ages of creativity in sound. Bar opens at 6:30 PM.

Milwaukee Catholic Home has been providing the best in senior care since 1913. The Residence at 2462 and The Health and Rehabilitation Center are located on the east side in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Trinity Woods is an intergenerational living community created in partnership between the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Mount Mary University, and Milwaukee Catholic Home.

Clare Gardens at the Catholic Ecology Center in Neosho, Wisconsin is a sustainable farmto-table project that offers acres of organic vegetables, an orchard, beehives, hens, and composting of food waste.

Our Lady of the Angels Convent is a 48-unit religious community managed by Milwaukee Catholic Home and is sponsored by the School Sisters of Notre Dame and the School Sisters of St. Francis. It is located in Greenfield, Wisconsin.

Queen of Peace Friary is a senior housing community managed by Milwaukee Catholic Home and located in Burlington, Wisconsin. It is home to 20 retired Franciscan Friar brothers.

Musicians Addison Teng, Amy Hess, and Paul Hauer met while studying music at Oberlin Conservatory. Life and opportunities have brought them to the Midwest, where they have formed the Ada Trio. This talented trio traditionally perform a repertoire of classical music, and they have recently begun introducing more popular pieces into their program. Join us for a lovely evening of music!

Sept. 16 & 17: MCH Annual Retreat

– “Let Go and Let God” led by Fr. James Kubicki, SJ | All Day |

Life means change. From beginning to end, our lives are a series of changes that challenge us to surrender to “let go and let God.” How can we do this peacefully and with faith, hope, and love? Fr. Jim Kubicki was ordained a Jesuit in 1983. He has worked extensively as a retreat leader and is an award-winning, published author and regular contributor to Catholic media. He currently serves as Spiritual Director at St. Francis de Sales Seminary in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. This will be hosted at the Catholic Ecology Center.

Sept. 19: A Bach Family Reunion with pianist Charles Q. Sullivan | 2:00 PM |

as a conductor, performer, presenter, and teacher. With degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and the Wisconsin College–Conservatory of Music, and additional studies at the New England Conservatory and Saint John’s University (Collegeville, MN).

Sept. 19: John Gurda “The Making of Milwaukee” | 10:00am | T Trinity Woods

Join local historian John Gurda for an illustrated and compelling presentation on the rich history of the city known for beer, bratwurst, and bubblers! All you need to now about Milwaukee history in one hour or less!

Sept. 21: Peter Mayer in Concert | 6:00 PM | C Catholic Ecology Center

Peter Mayer has been singing and songwriting for over 20 years. He writes songs about interconnectedness and the human journey. Peter has eleven albums to his credit and has sold over 100,000 of them. Join us for an open-air concert on the beautiful grounds of the Catholic Ecology Center. Tickets are $25. AddOns: Clare Gardens Farm Tour starting at 5:00 PM and/or Clare Gardens Farm Dinner following concert for $25.

Sept. 22: Sunday Spirit SeriesFinding God in Creation with Peter Mayer | 10:00 AM | M Milwaukee Catholic Home

Our 2024 Sunday Spirit Series has identified Sacred Places and Sacred Spaces. Explore the sacredness of God’s creation found in the world of nature through song and conversation with singer/songwriter Peter Mayer. Enjoy brunch following the program for $22.
