Obituary “Time is a ship on which we travel. How long the journey we cannot see. Long ago it was planned and chartered by Him who knows our destiny.”

W.S. Banks was born on August 17, 1936 to the union of Mrs.

Martha Banks and Mr. Glover Banks, Sr. in Sallis, Mississippi. He was the sixth of ten children. W.S. received his formal education at New Banyon School and Sallis Junior High School.

At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and savior and united with New Banyon Missionary Baptist Church. As a young man, he loved to sing God’s praises. W.S. joined the Golden Seal Group of New Banyon Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member.

In 1956, he moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was employed by Crucible Steel for thirty years and for ten years at Aldrich Chemical, from where he retired. He was hard-working and diligent.

In 1958, he met Patsy Scott and was united in holy matrimony. Their union was blessed with five children—two daughters and three sons.

W.S. had a friend who came over, no matter the weather, to shovel the snow. In his leisure, W.S. enjoyed spending time with his family. He really loved his family.

In 1970, he united with Canaan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. H. Matthew Beecham. W.S. served as a trustee, worked on the Usher Board and was a very faithful bus driver. He participated in the Male Chorus and Mass Choir and led many songs.

On June 11, 2016, the Lord saw Brother W.S. Banks was getting tired and called him home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Banks and Glover Banks, Sr.; two sisters, Lena Tate and Gertrude Johnson; and three brothers, James Banks, O’Neal Banks and Nathaniel Banks. W.S. leaves precious memories to: two daughters, Patricia (Johnny) Daniel and Gladys Cartridge; three sons, Michael, Brian and Terrance (Cherri) Banks, all of Dallas, TX; three sisters, Edna E. Jennings and Maggie Williams of Milwaukee, WI, Hattye M. (Curtis) Guyton of Broadview, IL; one brother, Glover Banks, Jr. of Milwaukee, WI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
