AACCW hosts 2nd Annual Breakfast of Champions On Tuesday, May 9, 2017 The African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin (AACCW) hosted its 2nd Annual Breakfast of Champions in the Grand Ballroom of the Pfister Hotel. The event hosted more than 400 guest, who gathered to honor the 2017 Business Champion Brewers Community Foundation president Cecelia Gore; and 2017 Strategic Partners Associated Bank, BMO Harris Bank, Milwaukee Bucks and Northwestern Mutual. WISN 12 News anchor Melinda Davenport served as MC for this event and the keynote speaker was National Black McDonald's Operators Association (NBMOA) chairman and CEO Roland Parrish. Small Business Administration presents Minority Small Business Champion Award to Ralph Hollmon On Friday, May 5, 2017 the Small Business Administration and SCORE presented the 32nd Annual Small Business Awards Breakfast at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center. Among those honored at this year's awards presentation was former Milwaukee Urban League president and CEO Ralph Hollmon, for his work advocating in the small minority business community. Initially, he recognized the importance of providing minority small businesses access to contracting dollars. Both with the Wisconsin Department of Administration and the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, he put in place programs that promoted minority business, allowing them to grow and gain contracts. Ralph recognized that education and networking are the catalysts to improvement and growth, partnered with local institutions to offer classes and coaching to businesses on all subjects, from financial literacy to the intricacies of contracting. Mt. Vernon Baptist Church hosts annual Women's Fellowship Breakfast On Saturday, May 6, 2017 Mt. Vernon Baptist Church hosted their annual Women's Fellowship Breakfast at the Holiday Inn Milwaukee West Riverfront. The theme for the breakfast was "The Classic Christian Woman," and the guest speaker and singer was local, up and coming gospel sensation, Ashlee Jasper, who offered up words of encouragement. The event was hosted by Mt. Vernon First Lady Joyce Jackson, and featured praise dances, poetry readings, fellowshipping, and spiritual songs.
