Thirty area high school students honored with scholarships from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin
On Friday, April 28, 2017 Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin, McDonald Restaurants, Mayor Tom Barrett, and the Milwaukee Common Council members recognized 30 multicultural scholarship winners at a special luncheon. The students were treated to a limousine ride from their respective schools to Milwaukee City Hall for the scholarship presentation, and later adjourned to a luncheon at the Intercontinental Hotel-Milwaukee, 139 E. Pastors United hosts '4th Annual Dinner Gala and Awards Banquet'

On Saturday, April 29, 2017 Pastors United hosted their 4th Annual Dinner Gala and Awards Banquet at Abundant Faith Church of Integrity, 7830 West Good Hope Road. This year's theme was, "The Year of the Young - Painting a New Image" with guest speaker Jawanza Kunjufu, founder and president of African American Images. He spoke to the attendees on the importance of helping our young people "paint a new image" for themselves in today's world by finding solutions to mend the relationship between the strength of the young, and the wisdom of the old so
they might thrive in the future. Salvation Army hosts 2017 Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
On Thursday, April 27, 2017 the Salvation Army of Milwaukee County hosted their annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at the Italian Conference Center, 631 East Chicago St. About 4,600 volunteers served on behalf of The Salvation Army in Milwaukee County in 2016; and more than 300 of them were honored, along with 28 individual groups, at this year's luncheon.
