Milwaukee Business Journal presents Flash Forum for Democratic National Convention On Friday, April 5, 2019, Milwaukee Business Journal hosted a flash forum on the forthcoming Democratic National Convention in 2020, at Good City Brewing & Taproom. The forum entitled "Democratic National Convention: How Milwaukee-Area Business Can Get Involved," featured a panel that included (from left) Wisconsin Center CEO Marty Brooks; Dynamic Events by David Caruso President and Creative Director David Caruso; Milwaukee Urban League President and CEO Dr. Eve Hall; Milwaukee Bucks Senior Vice President Alex Lasry; and Democratic National Committee Secretary Jason Rae. The panel discussed how businesses big and small can benefit from the DNC when it is in town next year. The panel was moderated by Milwaukee Business Journal Editor-in-Chief Mark Kass.

Mahogany CARES, Inc. presents 'Safe Harbor: Stories of Survivors' for Black Women Heal Day
On Monday, April 1, 2019, Mahogany CARES, Inc. hosted a special event for International Black Women Heal Day entitled, "Safe Harbor: Stories of Survivors (SOS)," at Aurora Mt. Sinai's Rapkin Auditorium, 960 N. 12th Street. The event, which was coordinated by Christian Women Perspective Ministries, Inc. founder Dr. Alice L. Belcher, D. Div., M.S., B.A., CDVA, Black Women Heal Day is an international day of healing for Black female survivors of sexual assault. This year's presenters included spiritual healing specialist La Soule; playwright and actor Linette Davis; healer, preacher and author Liland Gee; community advocate Cyrena Martin; Aurora Sexual Assault Treatment Center (SANE) Supervisor Sharain Horn; mental health clinician Marrika Rodgers; authors Elizabeth Brown and Amazshea Lee; and inspirational speaker Gigi Y. Boone-Frazier-Young.

UWM hosts 'A Seat at the Table: Women in Leadership and Civic Engagement' On Monday, April 1, 2019, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee welcomed Donna Brazile (left) and Kelly Ayotte (right) for a lively and thoughtful discussion entitled, "A Seat at the Table: Women in Leadership and Civic Engagement," at UWM's Union Wisconsin Room. The event focused on the topics of women in leadership, contemporary feminism, and the political outlook. Donna Brazile is a renowned political strategist, the former interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, esteemed author, and lecturer. Kelly Ayotte, former U.S. Senator and former Attorney General, is noted for her leading role in passing the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA), while working to pass legislation to provide more resources for service men and women.
