A Note of Gratitude

The family of Michael Dorsey wishes to thank each of you for the loving compassion that you have shown during our time of need. It is indeed a blessing from God. Your kind expressions of love have strengthened our faith, helped us accept the things we could not change, and reaffirmed the fact that other shared our loss. We, the family would like to send a special thanks to all the hospital staff and nurses that were there to help Michael during his hospital and hospice stays. We have been blessed with prayers, cards, visits, flowers, telephone calls, contributions of food, and other gestures of thoughtfulness. Words can never express just how much you mean to us!

I’m Free

The Broken Chain We little knew that morning, God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you’re always at our side.

Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me.

I took his hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work, or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way, I’ve found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life’s been full I’ve savored much, Good times, good friends, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now. HE SET ME FREE!

W hen I Think About Y ou When I think about you, I think about the last days of your life.

When I think about you, I think about when you called me “4 eyes” when I came to see you.

When I think about you, I think about when you opened your eyes and asked me “where’s my pizza” and smiled when I walked back in.

When I think about you, I think about how you stayed strong even though you felt weak.

I think about you everyday, because you are no longer here.

I think about you because I want you to know that I am safe.

I think about you in my dreams because, then I know things are really real.

I think about you because I am half of you.

MR. MICHAEL LYNN DORSEY was born at Mount Sinai Hospital in Milwaukee, WI on May 24, 1962 to the parentage of Mr. George D. Dorsey and Mrs. Dorothy M. Dorsey.

Michael attended Phillips Elementary, St.

Agnes Middle School and Hamilton High

School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He later

attended MATC where he received a certificate in HVAC. He started his career in the heating, cooling and plumbing industry where he worked until his heath began to deteriorate.

Michael was a member of St. Matthew CME Church, where he was baptized in 1965. He enjoyed playing spades with his family and friends. He also enjoyed horseback riding and antique cars.

Michael was active with the Buffalo Soldiers and he had a love for exotic cowboy boots. He was also a Prince Hall Mason and Eastern Star (Past Worthy Patron).

Michael was preceded in death by his oldest son, Antwon Dorsey; his uncle, Lawreance Dorsey; and aunts, Polly Dorsey and Peggy Jackson.

God, in His infinite wisdom, called his special angel, Michael, into eternal rest on Sunday, July 21, 2013. Those left to cherish his memory are: his children, Michael Lynn Dorsey II, Demi Lynn Shireatha Dorsey and Mi’Quanus Jalynn Dorsey of Milwaukee, WI; one granddaughter, Micah Palice Dorsey of St. Louis, MO; father and mother, George & Dorothy Dorsey of Milwaukee, WI; brothers, Gregory A. Dorsey of Milwaukee, WI and Darryl (Cynthia) Dorsey of Union City, GA; nieces, Shantel Sanders of Milwaukee, WI, Tierra (Kelvin) Lockhart of Atlanta, GA, Darius Dorsey and Cierra Dorsey of Union City, GA; four great nephews, CoreAnte Sanders, Jyamond Felder and Rayvon Sanders of Milwaukee, WI and Jacari Lockhart of Atlanta, GA; and a host of aunts, uncles, relatives and good friends.
