Obituary Brenson McKee, Sr.

was born April 20, 1916 to Nettie and Thomas McKee in Durand, Georgia. Brenson received his education in the Durand Public Schools District and later in Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS). He moved from Durand to Milwaukee at age 13. In 1937, Brenson joined the Army and was honorably discharged in 1943. In 1952, he married Ms. Lula Jean Daniels. This union was blessed with five children, Tujuanna, Bruce, Brenda, Terry and Montique.

Brenson worked at Thilen from 1944 to 1956 and later for General Spirits from 1956 to 1978 where he retired. Brenson went on and became an active member of the Masons. He was a member of the Blue House, Eastern Star, Royal Arch, Hands of Jericho, Knights of Templin, Consistory 33rd Degree and held the highest Degree in Masons and Shriners.

Brenson worked as a security officer until the age of 92. He enjoyed being active. He joined the Grace Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Andrew Calhoun. During Brenson’s leisure time, he enjoyed telling stories, hunting, fishing, cooking fish and spending time with his family and friends.

Brenson was called home on Sunday, January 24, 2016. He leaves behind to cherish his memories: his wife, Lula Jean McKee; brother, James McKee; children, Royce McKee, Tyrone Daniels, Tujuanna McKee, Bruce McKee, Brenda McKee, Terry (Crystal) McKee, Montique McKee, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Brenson was preceded in death by his parents, Nettie and Thomas McKee; brothers, Willie, Curtis, Tommy and Benjermin McKee; sisters, Louise and Mary Alice McKee; sons, Brenson Jr., Larry Daniels and Gregory Daniels.

The Broken Chain We little knew that day, God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly, In death, we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide.

And although we cannot see you, You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.

Measure of a Man Not - How did he die? But - How did he live?

Not - What did he gain? But - What did he give?

These are the things that measure the worth Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.

Not - What was his station? But - had he a heart?

And - How did he play his God-given part?

Was he ever ready with a word of good cheer?

To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?

Not - What was his church? Not - What was his creed?

But - Had he befriended those really in need?

Not - What did the sketch in the newspaper say?

But - How many were sorry when he passed away?

These are the things that measure the worth Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
