MAY 21 – JUNE 13, 2026
PREVIEW: MAY 20 | MAIN STAGE | PG-13

Welcome back for The Grand’s 2025 - 2026 theatrical season! We’re so excited that you could join us once again as we continue to bring you professional-quality theatre, at community theater prices. This year’s season features some great comedy and great drama. The production you’re about to see, The Producers, is one of my favorite shows. We’re thrilled to welcome back Jamie Rocha Allan, who has directed several shows here at The Grand. He has put together a fantastic cast, and our entire production team has done a wonderful job. I sincerely hope you enjoy the show!
This year we are also proud to continue our partnership with Excellence in the Community to bring you free community concerts once a month featuring some of Utah’s most talented musicians. We hope you will join us for these free concerts and see just how much amazing talent we have in our great state. Please remember to show your continued support for The Grand by helping us spread the word about our productions and all the incredible local talent they showcase. We would not be able to continue without the ongoing support of patrons like you. Helping spread the word about our shows and events really does make a difference! Thank you, and ENJOY THE SHOW!

The Grand Theatre

“Aproducer could make more money with a flop than a hit.” These words first started rattling around in Mel Brooks’ mind long before The Producers ever made it to Broadway. In 1947, while working for a down-at-the-heels Broadway producer, he saw firsthand the practice of always raising just a little more money than the budget required, meaning that even a producer with a string of flops could stay in business. But how can you guarantee a flop, get rich, and take your winnings all the way to Rio?
“Springtime for Hitler: A Gay Romp with Adolf and Eva at Berchtesgaden” was Brooks’ answer. Conceived at first as a joke, the play within the play was not only perfect for Bialystock and Bloom’s ultimate flop, but Brooks’ own way of combatting the anti-semetic Nazi rhetoric he’d been subjected to all his life. “If I get on the soapbox and wax eloquently, it’ll be blown away in the wind, but if I do ‘Springtime for Hitler’ it’ll never be forgotten.”
While initially a tough sell, The Producers would go on to be a sleeper hit, netting Brooks an Academy Award for Best Screenplay and cementing him as one of the legends of American comedy for the next 50 years. When adapting the film for Broadway with Thomas Meehan, he further refined the show with a talented cadre of collaborators to add more musical numbers, more jokes, and an even more outlandish “Springtime”. The musical would win 12 Tonys (the most ever) and spawn yet another movie, becoming in Mel’s words “the gift that just keeps on giving.”
