WELCOME
Welcome to The Secret Lives of the Real Wives in the Salt Lake Hive. The very best part of my job is having a front row seat to the magic that happens in the rehearsal room: the laughter, the risk-taking, the brilliant mess of creation.
Our local theatre artists are among the most talented, generous, and inventive people you’ll ever meet. This project has asked more of us than any other. It’s a brand-new play written in months, not years. That means we’ve had to build it from the ground up, moment by moment, line by line. Every choice has been collaborative. Every rehearsal is a workshop.
To our Playwrights: A heartfelt thank you for being brave enough to say yes to this wild and exhilarating ride. You’ve given us a play that’s been an absolute joy to bring to life.
To our Actors: you haven’t just stepped into roles; you’ve helped shape them. You’ve been instrumental in developing the characters and the comedy. I am grateful to each of you for your brilliance and flexibility. It’s a creative workout.
To my Assistant Director and Assistant Choreographer: thank you for being my right hand and a source of inspiration.
To our Music Director: thank you for going above and beyond to shape the music of this show. Your ear for detail and your pursuit of the proper harmony have lifted this production.
To our Designers: thank you for your patience and artistry. Creating beautiful and inspired designs under a tight timeline is no small feat.
To our stage management team: you are the foundation beneath this production. Thank you for holding us together.
And to the incredible SLAC staff: thank you for keeping the lights on and the seats filled. From marketing to development to front-of-house and beyond, you are the reason we do what we do.
It has been a joy to be in a room with all these creatives, giving everything we’ve got to bring you something funny, fresh, and full of life. That’s what makes my heart beat.
I hope you laugh with us. I hope you sing with us. And I hope we see you again and again.
With love and gratitude,
Cynthia Executive Artistic Director
Summer Show cast and creative team.
Just Listen.

This is by far going to be the biggest, and frankly, greatest bio you’ve ever read. Think about that, tens of millions, if not trillions of bio’s are written every year, we call it bio–nomics, I call it bio–nomics, I just thought of that, do you like that? BIO–NOMICS! It’s the economics of biologicals. Big stuff, real big stuff. Steve knows, aahhh, Steve knows. We had a long conversation about Bio–nomics… just the other day. Steve’s here with his wife, stand up Steve. Steve and his delicious wife everybody. Isn’t she just beautiful? Look at how beautiful Steve’s wife is, everybody. She’s too good for you, Steve. I tell you what if you weren’t around Steve…I’m joking. We like to have fun here. Bio–nomics are responsible for more than half of all the information known about actors, can you believe that? Half, folks! They told me that and I

They said, “Sir, no one’s ever said anything like that to us, sir” and then, with tears in their eyes, and these were big guys, strong guys, never shed a tear in their life and there they were with tears coming down on their face and they said, “Thank you for saving us, sir” and I said, “You’re welcome” and then they saluted me…like this.
