DIRECTOR’S NOTE
Welcome to Noises Off, a glorious celebration of everything that is delightfully chaotic, hopelessly human, and joyously theatrical. Underneath the slapstick comedy and the uproarious physicality, it offers a unique lens through which we can examine the resilience of the human spirit. The characters in this farce, despite their flaws, misunderstandings, and constant blunders, are driven by their desire to succeed, to be seen, and to be loved. Their total commitment to the show, despite it all falling apart around them, speaks to a determination to push through adversity. The heart of the play isn’t just in the laughter it provokes, but in the human tenacity it exposes. This play has been a gift to direct, collaborating with an extraordinary company so-game-to-conquer its demands for a high level of physicality, exquisite timing and total investment. The choreography of falling, tripping, and missing entrances is as complex as it is hilarious. We’ve worked hard to ensure that each mishap and misstep has a rhythm to it, and to mine the humor that comes from characters facing a crisis when their attempts to maintain control only heighten the chaos around them.
At its core, Noises Off is a celebration of the human spirit’s refusal to quit—even when it seems like everything is falling apart. As we watch these characters try, and often fail, to hold everything together—whether it’s their love lives, their egos, or the performance itself—we also witness something universal: the messy, imperfect nature of human connection. These characters’ miscommunications, jealousies, and insecurities echo something deeply real about the way people navigate the world. Their relentless drive to push through despite the odds is not only what makes the play so funny, but also what gives it heart. The play invites us to laugh at their expense, but it also asks us to recognize ourselves in their struggles. They may stumble, forget their lines, and break down under pressure, but they continue forward, driven by the hope that the show must go on. It’s this spirit—the determination to rise again after every fall—that gives Noises Off its soul.
—Shelley
A NOTE FROM PTC LEADERSHIP
Dear Friends,
Once again, the holiday season is upon us. Gathering with family and friends and sharing experiences is one of the enduring symbols of the holidays. We are delighted that you have chosen the magic of live theatre as part of your holiday celebrations. It is always a pleasure to share the holiday season with you.
This year we return to one of your most favorite plays—and one of ours too Noises Off! If this is your first time seeing this play, welcome to the hilarity; and if you have seen it before, we imagine you are returning to it like an old friend, a very funny old friend.
Bringing productions like these to life demands resources that go well beyond ticket revenue. It’s made possible by supporters like you—people who believe in the power of live art to connect us, inspire us, and change lives. This year, your support carries even greater weight. An anonymous donor, through the Community Foundation of Utah, has created a $1.2 million Challenge Grant. If we raise $1.76 million by June 30, 2026, PTC will unlock an additional $600,000 to strengthen our future. We are proud to share that we have already raised one-third of this goal, a meaningful step forward. But with $1,160,000 still to go, we truly need your help to reach the finish line.
When you make a gift to FORWARD: Fund the Future Legacy of PTC, you help keep theatre accessible, deepen our connection with students and the broader community, and invest in artists who will shape the future of our field. Your generosity keeps the lights bright on our stage, empowering the artists who bring these stories to life and nurturing the next generation of creative talent.
During this season of giving—and during a production where everything that can go wrong hilariously does—your support ensures that everything that matters goes right for PTC. Every gift brings us closer to meeting this extraordinary challenge. We invite you to make a contribution today and help ensure that Theatre Lives Here.
We wish you and yours a warm, joyful, and laughter-filled holiday season. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
Happy Holidays, Karen and Adrian

FOR YOUR INFORMATION
Emergency Exits are indicated to your right and left in the theatre. Please identify the exit closest to your seat location in case an emergency occurs.
Videotaping, photographing, or other video or audio recording of this production is strictly prohibited. This includes photos taken by phone.
SMART WATCHES,
CELL
PHONES, AND CAMERAS
ARE DISRUPTIVE; even when set on silent or vibrate, they may disrupt wireless sound equipment. Please leave your electronics in the car, or turn them off entirely while in the theatre.
TEXTING is disturbing to the actors and your fellow audience members. Do not text during the performance.
If you might need to be reached during a performance, leave your exact seat location with the box office. The number for emergency calls is 801-581-6963.
We have a hearing assistance system that allows our hard-of-hearing patrons to sit in any seat in the house. Collateral required; inquire at coat check.
We welcome all persons. Those with special requirements should request assistance in advance. Refreshments are not permitted in the auditorium, but are available in the main floor lobby pre-show, and during intermission. Bottled water and approved PTC drink
containers are allowed in the theatre.
University of Utah is a non-smoking campus, both inside and outside all buildings.
Evening performances are at 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; Saturday matinees at 2 :00 p.m. Please avoid arriving after curtain time. To avoid disturbing other patrons, latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager. This policy has been instituted at the request of many of our patrons.
Season ticket holders may exchange their tickets for another performance of the same play by notifying the box office at least 48 hours prior to the performance date. Tickets are non-refundable.
You may donate your tickets, helping yourself and Pioneer Theatre Company. If you are unable to attend a production, make a tax-deductible gift of your tickets to the Theatre so that we may re-sell them. Call the box office at least 48 hours prior to the performance date.
The Patron Services staff will serve you from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. During the run of a show, the box office is open extended hours Monday through Saturday.
No children under age 5 are admitted to performances.
