Remembering "Tog"

Obituary

OnMay 11, 2023, Regina Belle Camp Caserta passed away peacefully at the age of 72, surrounded by her loving family.

Regina was born in Brevard, North Carolina on April 23, 1951. She graduated from Brevard High School in 1969, and moved to Asheville when she was 18 years old, along with her six siblings after the early passing of her parents. That’s where she met and later married her beloved husband, Gaetano Caserta, on May 3, 1975.

Shortly thereafter, she began an exceptionally successful career as a banker at First Union. She achieved several high accolades during her career at First Union for best salesperson of the region. Due to her success at First Union, she was recruited to be the lead banker at the first Essex Savings bank branch in Asheville, NC in 1990. She returned to First Union, later in her career, and stayed with the bank through its transition to Wachovia, and then Wells Fargo, where she ended her career in 2010, to spend more time with her family. With her natural charisma, joyful persona and love of people, she excelled in her work and personal life. Regina was a phenomenal daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Her warm spirit and incomparable generosity made all of her friends and family feel special.

Regina had a beautiful, infectious smile and boisterous laugh. She passed her love of music, singing, and fabulous sense of humor and style, on to her children. Affectionately known as “Tog” by her siblings and cousins, she was always the life of the party. Regina was stunning inside and out, and even enjoyed a local modeling career. She also spent time volunteering as a weight loss coach for Weight Watchers. But her love and pride for her daughters, Angelina and Annamarie, was limitless.

She dedicated her life to Jehovah in baptism, in 1967, at a convention in NY. As a devout Jehovah’s Witness at heart, her love of Jehovah God guided her and her family’s lives during formative years, giving her children an incomparable moral compass. She was predeceased by her parents, Emma Mae and Bowman Camp, her beloved siblings, Tommy Lewis, Daniel, Helen and Janice (Ken); mother-in-law Mary Legato, fathers in-law Michael Legato and John Caserta, brothers-in-law Johnny Caserta and Abe Amalfitano. She leaves behind her husband of 48 years, Gaetano Caserta; daughters, Angelina Caserta (Jason Colcord) and Annamarie Atwood (Eric); grandchildren, Coryn Atwood, Caelyn Atwood and Charlotte Colcord; siblings, Gwendolyn Parkin (Michael) and Roger Camp; nieces and nephews, Jackie Whittington (Todd), Daniel Camp, Michelle Gourdine (Larry), Jesse Amalfitatno (Erica) Kenneth Whitesides (Regina), April Simmons (Spencer), Victoria Williams (Christopher) and Luke Amalfitano; sister in-law, Ann Marie Amalfitano; many other relatives who will all miss her dearly.

Life Is But A stopping place

Life is but a stopping place A pause in what’s to be, A resting place along the road, To sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, Different paths along the way. We all were meant to learn some things, But never were meant to stay… Our destination is a place, Far greater than we know.
