Deepti Sadhwani, an Indian actress and singer, emerged onto the entertainment scene after winning the Miss North India beauty pageant in 2006. Hailing from Lucknow and currently residing in Mumbai, she gained recognition for her role in the popular music video "Lala Lala Lori" and collaborated with Badshah in "Hariyana Roadways." A former investment banker in London, she pursued her dreams by leaving the financial sector behind.
Artist of the Month Could you share more about your journey from being an investment banker in London to pursuing a career in entertainment? What inspired this transition?
Certainly! In essence, my journey has been a transition from the realm of investment banking to the vibrant field of entertainment. Following my high school graduation, I nurtured a deep-seated desire to enter the entertainment industry, leading me to participate and triumph in beauty pageants such as Miss North India which i won and Miss India. These experiences served as my introduction to the world of entertainment, and I became acclimated to the industry. After completing college, I secured a position as a banker in London. However, it became evident that the conventional 9 to 5 job structure wasn't aligned with my true passion. I harbored a strong aspiration to bring joy to audiences and find personal fulfillment in entertaining others. This realization prompted my decision to transition into the field of entertainment, where I could pursue endeavors that bring happiness and peace of mind to both myself and the audience.

You won the Miss North India beauty pageant in 2006. How did that experience shape your early career and your decision to enter the entertainment industry? Following my school years, I ventured into Beauty Pageants Miss North India, a pivotal experience that gracefully sculpted my career. This journey offered me a unique perspective and served as a catalyst for personality development, providing a profound opportunity for selfdiscovery. It equipped me with essential skills and the ability to engage with audiences. Transitioning directly from a school setting, I was initially unfamiliar with such environments, making the Beauty Pageant training an invaluable source of exposure. This transformative experience played a pivotal role in shaping my career from a very early age.
"Lala Lala Lori" is a music video that gained immense popularity. What was it like working on that project, and what do you think contributed to its success? The serendipitous journey of "Lala Lala Lori" unfolded during the filming of Haryana Roadways with Badshah. Captivated by the production team's musical offerings, I expressed my admiration for the enchanting track and decided to be part of it. The song's magic began to weave two months later, amidst a week-long rehearsal, all amidst the challenges of shooting during the COVID era. My connection with Lala Lala Lori" wasn't just happenstance; it was a deliberate choice driven by my genuine love for the audio. I believe my involvement goes beyond the visuals, as the synergy of audio and video is pivotal. If you find my presence resonating in the song, it's a testament to the unique contribution I've made to this captivating musical fusion.

"Toot Jayein" is another project you were a part of. What can you tell us about this particular venture and what it meant to you? Reflecting on the song "Toot Jayein," it holds a profoundly special place in my heart as it was directed by Arvindr Khaira, a director I deeply admire in the realm of music. The collaboration was a longawaited dream, given his extraordinary ability to bring out the best in actresses and weave captivating narratives within the songs. Teaming up with music maestro Vishal Mishra and the soulful voice of Nishawn bhullar formed a perfect trio. Arvindr not only extracted acting skills from me but also bestowed a meaningful role, making it a transformative experience. This project marked a turning point in my career, shifting from energetic dance numbers to the depth of romantic and melancholic songs, significantly impacting my journey in the music industry.

You started your music career alongside Badshah in the music video "Haryana Roadways." Can you tell us about the collaboration and your experience working with him? My entry into the music industry unfolded alongside Badshah in the melodious journey of "Haryana Roadways." Collaborating with Badshah was a delightful and effortless experience, creating a warm and lively atmosphere on set. The shoot felt more like a Haryanvi celebration, a joyful party with a friendly and relaxed vibe. Despite the challenges posed by COVID, the set maintained a balance between fun and safety, adhering to necessary norms. Working with Badshah not only brought the joy of music but also an entertaining dynamic, as he never failed to keep everyone amused with his on-set antics.
6. You hail from the city of Nawabs, Lucknow. How has your upbringing and background influenced your work in the entertainment industry? Hailing from the city of Nawabs, Lucknow, holds special significance for me. Many individuals in our industry share this hometown connection, and I genuinely feel fortunate. Breaking down the word "Lucknow," the essence of luck is inherent in its name. Lucknow, a city of Nawabs, is truly enchanting. Despite residing in the modern part of town, my upbringing in this cultural hub has imprinted a unique linguistic charm in my communication. The rich heritage of Lucknow has positively influenced my lingo, contributing to my journey in a meaningful way.

What advice would you give to aspiring actors and singers looking to make a mark in the entertainment industry, especially those who are considering a career change like you did? My advice to aspiring artists is simple: follow your heart. If your passion lies in entertainment rather than a conventional career like engineering or medicine, embrace it. Loving what you do is crucial for a fulfilling life. Recognize your potential – whether it's singing, directing, photography, or any creative endeavor – and don't settle for a 9-to-5 job if it doesn't align with your passion. Your creative talents can offer more than just paying the bills; they can lead to a richer and more meaningful life.

Your culinary journey has taken you from the prestigious Taj Group to the helm of your culinary empire with SJI Hospitality Group. Can you share some pivotal moments or experiences that shaped your approach to food and led to the establishment of Mulk, Pachinco, and MiniyaTurk under your banner? The 2 inspirations for me were Chef Ananda Solomon and Chef Uddipan Chakravarthy. They both guided me in their ways where they said that you need to dirty your hands yourself and learn. The hands-on experience and learning from my failures. The chefs were the reason my approach to the food industry and perspective changed which led to the opening of the restaurants, they both in their ways said you are a good leader if you walk holding hands with all and teach not command.
Beyond the traditional restaurant setting, you have ventured into unique culinary niches with 'The Pickled Chick,' 'Nutty Singh,' 'Makhana Singh,' and 'ALPS - Always Love Peanut Spread.' How do these ventures reflect your culinary identity, and what inspires you to continuously innovate and explore new gastronomic territories? These companies aim to deliver a unique dining experience to guests in the comfort of their homes, where they can savour meals with a delightful twist. Breaking away from conventional prototypes, these services offer innovative and exciting culinary options. These also help me to explore more and more as I say food is an ocean and everyone has his or her page to add.
Your achievements as a Tea Blender and Tea Sommelier are truly unique in the culinary world. Could you shed light on your journey into the world of teas, the challenges you faced, and how this passion has influenced your overall culinary philosophy, including the upcoming brand Tea Leaf Time? As tea is a versatile product it excites me a lot as it has variety and method. Each tea has a different note in terms of flavour and body. While studying I realised tea is a culture and something that needs to be given its due time and be consumed with leisure as it helps provoke thoughts. I realized that tea if given the right time to brew with the right temperature creates an aww and gets a person in a relaxed mood. So this was why I chose the name Tea Leaf Time to get people to know if you give tea its time it will help you relax and think out of the box.
The inception of SJI Gourmet and your foray into the world of teas with Gourmet Treats and Tea Leaf Time showcase a diverse culinary palette. How do you balance traditional flavours with innovation, and what drives your exploration of different culinary domains, from North Indian BBQ to Ceylon teas and beyond? Being a chef, I always feel that there is an ocean to study and culinary is an art with an understanding and interpretation of one different from the other. I love learning from experience and people's learning excites me. So that is where I got inclined to a love for tea which is one of the most versatile products that gives you scope to blend and balance. It is your imagination in a cup.
Your presence on Sony Liv's Master Chef India as a special guest in 2023 must have been a remarkable experience. How do you approach contestants in specialized cuisines, and what insights or lessons do you hope to impart to aspiring chefs through such platforms? I wish to and want to tell aspiring chefs that you should cook with your heart and smile whatever you make will be good. I also wish that aspiring chefs would try to read about what they are cooking as this will help them to understand the food better. And the basic rule is a chef should serve only what he feels he will consume. This will always make a chef more confident in his work. Take being a chef as a passion and not work as passion lasts forever and excites one all the time.
PLANETARY CHESS: A GAMECHANGER IN COUNTERACTING SYSTEMIC RACISM AND THE POWER OF THE DENIAL DIARY"

THE STORY If you will, think back in time to 2020. It's the pandemic and “non essentials” are stuck at home, watching TV being inundated with commercials from companies pledging money to end systemic racism following the death of Mr. Floyd and the shooting of Mr. Jacob Blake. Then, Anti Racism became the hope of the country. Well over $500 Million was "donated" to the “end racism” business. I was in a hotel, cussing like a sailor at the TV on every commercial break, frantically searching for the remote to mute the pledges. 6 years earlier, as a philosopher, I made my first documentary film on youtube named "Good White Folks," totally breaking down racism white supremacy. The youtube films I made were largely based on the scholarship of Dr. Francis Cress Welsing, Mr. Neely Fuller Jr. and Dr. Amos Wilson. I was just as confused as everyone else as to the recurring phenomena of an "unarmed" black man being smoked by the law. They had ALL the answers and I made multiple films, integrated with their lectures. Anti racism was clearly not the answer in my opinion. Fast forward to Jan 5, 2021, I happened to be in Washington D.C of all places. I had a talk with a maga dude that I'll never forget. This talk and the following day's events, were motivating factors for me to create a system named Planetary Chess. Planetary Chess is a term coined by Dr. Welsing. It's a simple concept that says that systemic racism is a really big chess game and that if we study the game... we can one day restore peace, balance and justice. Systemic racism is the remaining fragments from colonialism, the time period where Europeans terrorized the world in the name of their God. You'll have to excuse me if I'm being too blunt but systemic racism is a type of war and I can't afford to 'beat around the bush' about it.
Planetary Chess began as a book, "Introduction to Planetary Chess" and later evolved into a system that uses art, literature, gaming and technology to ultimately eradicate systemic racism. When I say that, people kinda give me a questionable look. I know it sounds crazy but you would do well to remember that a mere computer program is aggressively attacking the whole financial system. We call it Bitcoin. Like Bitcoin, Planetary Chess is a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) and it operates with the future in mind... Now here's where it starts to get weird because I honestly believed that after the $500 million and all the pledges, people would welcome a plan to "dismantle" systemic racism. I first started sending off emails about the project to Universities and Anti-racism centers. No response. Then I figured that I should make some press releases and put it out there for the media. Again, No response.
I started studying public relations and Chat GPT made suggestions on how to get my message out to the world. I then created a research paper. The paper was centered around "The Great Replacement Theory". I began studying the great replacement theory while writing the second book of Planetary Chess, "Disputation on the Power & Efficacy of Antiracism." At the end of the book, I asserted that the policy of Anti racism is exacerbating the problem. It wasn't a week after I wrote that paper that a white supremacist in Jacksonville Florida went into a dollar store and targeted and killed some black folks. This is the essence of "The Great Replacement Theory." The following week, Professor Ibram Kendi, the unofficial leader of antiracism, was blasted in the news for making cuts with little to no strides in the fight against racism. Again, I’m cursing the television vehemently. You can still see the press release from only a few months earlier, HERE. I was easily one of the first whistleblowers. Again, I started sending out emails. I followed up on the ones that were ignored previously and I even sent the research paper connecting past "theoretical" research to current white supremacist ideology.. No response. I was a bit frustrated but my PR campaign had finally started taking off and I was getting a few features, so I knew it was some good white folks somewhere that wanted to know about this solution.I just have to figure this out. I play the game of chess everyday and so, in a moment of clarity, I realized that I was going to have to play some chess to get the big organizations to recognize the project and research paper. You see, in Chess, you study your opponent’s moves and try to predict the next one. When you get good at the game, you think ahead of your opponent and you force them to make the moves you want them to make.
Knowing their next move (to ignore my research), I decided that I would share these ignored emails in a section of my blog entitled, “Scapegoating Sanity: Denial Diary” & air their negligence in the court of public opinion. I made this decision on December 1st & I decided that for the whole month of December, I would write an email, sharing my research with the biggest organizations claiming to want to “dismantle” systemic racism. This included the NAACP, the Urban League, The NFL, The University of Dillard, the Emancipator, a publication for the Center of Antiracist research at Boston University and more. The plan was to then share the documentation with every investigative journalist in the world until someone picked up the story.
RESULTS FROM THE DENIAL DIARY The Diary contained 22 entries to some of the prestigious organizations supposedly concerned with creating a more equitable society. Only 1 organization, Triple Pundit, a corporate social responsibility blog, found interest enough in the project to open a dialogue with me. I received only one other reply which may have been the most interesting entry in the blog. FAIR, The Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism. With a stated mission of seeking to “understand” racism, they quickly replied to my email to alert me that they were not interested in research helping to understand racism. This represents a betrayal of public trust, a waste of taxpayers dollars and the implication that only white people (or their lackeys) are allowed to contribute to the social sciences discussion. In the blogs, I often mirror their language and in one instance, The Center for Racial Justice at Dillard University, had the sheer audacity to say that they needed the community's voice. That without us, it’s just a scholarly conversation and not a “Real World” conversation. They were one of the organization’s that ignored both of my emails.
So, not only were these organizations severely disinterested in a proposed system to dismantle systemic racism, their stated mission, and a research paper related to modern day white supremacists (the terrorists who spark these movements)... they didn’t even want to make a profit!! Now, you know that’s a super strong case of denial to make a business turn down money for their stated cause.
CONCLUSION I’m eternally grateful that Millesima allowed me to get this off my chest and put this message out to the world. Planetary Chess is based on counter racism. In chess, it means that the black side of the chess board shouldn’t be begging the opponent to ease up or to give concessions. That’s NOT the way the game is played. The Black side simply has to understand how the game is being played, study the opponent, build their knowledge and put the opponent in compromising positions. Anti racism, on the other hand, is quite literally trying to force white people not to be racist… in a world that colonials ransacked to set up for them. It should be clear why the incidents related to the Great Replacement Theory are rising then. In the 48 laws of power, law 13 says that when you have to ask for help, always appeal to the other person’s self interest, never their mercy or gratitude. So, here’s what we have to think about.. Why would over $500 million be donated to try and force white people to go against their self interest but Planetary Chess, an effort to empower black people with a methodology to avoid systemic traps and formula to end systemic racism, seeking a $4 million (2000 ETH) INVESTMENT..can’t a dime.
