You may have noticed this year in Congress Hall that there was a new women-owned business catering to our fashion needs for everyday life- The Signature Equestrian.
Alexis Wrobbel and Lauren Allen are co-owners of this cute equestrian boutique. Both having been in the horse industry for quite some time knew exactly what we all wanted to see in every day fashion for our equine world. Even more impressive is the fact that they have built this thriving business in ONLY six months!
Lauren started riding at the age of ten, leasing a horse named Good Deeds. She says this gelding had no top teeth from a lifetime of cribbing, but it never stopped him from being so fat that he looked like a mare in foal! She remembers him very clearly spooking at the wash rack, and she would fall off just about every single time. Finally, after hitting the dirt for the 20th or for maybe the 30th time, she managed to stay on. Lauren grew up showing mainly in 4-H, and her first goal out of school was to purchase & show a horse on
the AQHA circuit. And when she graduated in 2013 that is exactly what she has been doing ever since!
Alexis has been intertwined into the equine world her whole life as her own mother had grown up showing hunters back in California. She instilled into Alexis the love for these amazing animals. Her first horse's name was Bloomers, a ranch bred palomino mare. At eight years old, Alexis was gifted her first AQHA show horse. At her first show she remembers her trainer telling her to just have a good ride, and to not worry about how she placed. And of course, Alexis comes out of the pen with a blue ribbon. Seeing her parents crying in the stands after her win sure did get her hooked on the feeling of being in the show pen.
Both ladies work separate full time jobs as well as running the day to day operations of this new endeavor. Alexis says she has always wanted to run her own business, several in fact. The daily challenges and the fact that you can create so much from nothing is what she loves the most. Lauren, already being her own boss from running her own dental

practice in Midwest City, OK, said she wouldn't have it any other way. She loves owning and running her own businesses. So with them working full-time, and running the business, their days can be a bit hectic, as they are left running The Signature Equestrian mainly in their spare time. That means they are packaging orders, taking photos of their new items, updating social media, making connections with wholesale vendors, and brainstorming for new product ideas whenever they have a second to spare.
All in all, they say this experience has been a rewarding one. They are so happy to be able to bring fellow equestrians the products they use and love themselves. It has been surreal that customers have come up to say how much they have
wanted to meet them. They even had a customer that lives in Australia! Meeting people from all around the world has been one of the brightest moments as business owners. They have been able to meet and connect with so many different horse enthusiasts, in every kind of discipline. Their biggest obstacle though is still their customer base, only having been in business for six months.
The Signature Equestrian offers a variety of items, ranging from apparel to jewelry to one-of-a-kind handbags. The amazing part about all their products is that they are tested by Lauren and Alexis before ever being sold to the public! They want to test the quality of them before they ever market them for sale.
The foundation of their business was not inspired by just one person, but rather a group. Women like Tammy Dyer and Debbie Hodde inspire the two women. All the vendors that you see when traveling the country to the different horse shows, no matter the size of their business, take chances and aren't afraid to lay it all out on the line. Lauren and Alexis draw their inspiration from all of them.
The fact that such a young business was able to become a new vendor at the All American Quarter Horse Congress is a great accomplishment. The ladies couldn't believe that their products were being sold at such a venue! And to top it off, Debbie Hodde of Winning Couture, asked them to create a line for her store, "The Signature Equestrian for Winning Couture". Alexis and Lauren can't think Debbie enough for noticing the thought and care that they put into every product they design.

Currently, The Signature Equestrian is getting ready for the holidays. Their website just got a major overhaul, adding new products and designing new products for Christmas! The team plans on coming back to Congress again one day, and this coming year they are planning to attend The Sun Circuit, The Redbud Spectacular, and the NSBA.
