For Oksana, this period has also been a time of inner searching. It was during the war that she began to take a deeper interest in positive psychology and undertook relevant training. What began as a personal desire to better understand herself and the nature of human inner resilience gradually evolved into a desire to pursue a professional career in this field. Today, Oksana wants to work in the field of positive psychology, helping people to be more mindful of themselves, recognise their own resources, find inner strength and regain a sense of ownership over their lives. She is also drawn to the topic of empathy. After all, true empathy is not merely the ability to feel what another person is feeling. It is sensitivity and an understanding that we never know the full story of another person’s life. We see a smile – but we don’t know what came before it. Today, Valentyna joins our “Style Icon” project. And in her case, the title seems to capture her character with remarkable precision. Beauty has always been part of her world. A renowned women’s hairstylist and image-maker, she is the founder of a school of hairdressing, the For You café, and the Dzherelo Dushi (“Source of the Soul”) Business Women’s Club. Behind these few lines lies a lifetime of dedication, talent, the courage to create something new, and a rare ability to bring people together. Her professional journey has been recognised with the titles “Distinguished Professional of Ukraine’s Consumer Services” and “Veteran of Labour,” the “Golden Hands Master” and “Person of the Year 2006” diplomas, as well as medals and the Berehynia of Ukraine Order. And yet, it is not the honours that impress me most. It is Valentyna herself. Her optimism. Her extraordinary zest for life. Her enduring curiosity about the world, about people, about beauty. here are women whose style cannot be defined by clothing, jewellery, or fragrance alone. It begins somewhere much deeper — with character, inner freedom, and the confidence to remain true to oneself. Nataliia Yasna is one of those women. Feminine, vibrant, and endlessly creative, she transforms her personal vision of beauty into a distinctive language where fashion, art, and individuality come together. Her brand, YARA, brings this philosophy to life through evening gowns, exclusive jewellery, and bespoke fragrances.

— Nataliia, what does being a strong woman mean to you: the way you present yourself, your inner state, self-confidence, or a harmony of all these elements? — Above all, it is the harmony of everything together. To me, true strength is an inner state — having a solid foundation within yourself, knowing what you want, being able to stay focused, and not allowing circumstances to dictate who you are. When you are constantly anxious or lose your sense of focus, your work suffers, your energy fades, and you begin to lose that inner core. Strength is something we have to cultivate and develop within ourselves. And then our appearance, confidence, and femininity naturally become an extension of that inner harmony. — Your image is always feminine, vibrant, and instantly recognisable. How did your personal style evolve? — I think it began in childhood. I was always performing — first in kindergarten, then at school. Later came the National Drama Theatre, television, and festivals. The stage teaches you to understand an image, to notice details and aesthetics, to feel comfortable with attention while never losing yourself in it. So my style was not something I invented overnight — it evolved alongside me. Today, I am especially drawn to a femininity that is expressive and confident, yet completely natural. — How did YARA, a brand that brings together fashion, fragrance, and jewellery, come into your life? — I had always dreamed of creating my own dresses. The fragrance direction appeared quite unexpectedly when I was offered the opportunity to develop my own perfumes. That was when I realised I wanted to unite dresses, fragrances, and jewellery within one creative concept. YARA began in Ukraine, in Kyiv. Later, I started presenting my fragrances at fashion events and festivals and offering them as gifts to VIP guests in Monaco, Italy, and other countries. Gradually, the brand began to enter the international arena. And what matters deeply to me is that today I can represent abroad something that was born in Ukraine.

— Who is the YARA woman? — She is feminine, self-assured, and determined to succeed. YARA is not simply a dress or a beautiful fragrance. It is an image created for a particular person. This is especially true of our fragrances. They are created for us by specialists in Kharkiv, who first become acquainted with the person behind the scent. They may look at her photograph, try to understand her personality and what she needs at that particular moment in her life. A fragrance can accentuate femininity, inspire confidence, create the right mindset for success, an important meeting, or the signing of a major agreement. Most importantly, it is entirely individual. There is no second one exactly like it. — So, in essence, YARA gives a woman an image that is uniquely her own? — Exactly. We give a person an image of her own. The same philosophy applies to our jewellery, created with the participation of artisans from Kharkiv and Odesa. A design might be inspired by a Salvador Dalí painting, an animal, or another artistic motif. What matters to me is that a woman feels: this was created especially for me. Her image is unique — no one else has exactly the same one. — What inspires you most today? — The world itself. Nature, events, architecture, travel. I am particularly fascinated by cathedrals and churches. Sometimes, a single powerful impression is enough for an idea to be born. For example, for an event dedicated to Volodymyr the Great and Princess Olga, artist Nataliia Lopukhova and I are creating thematic artistic designs for dresses. And when I saw Notre-Dame Cathedral in France, I immediately wanted to translate its image into a gown. For me, fashion is about far more than trends. It can tell stories, convey emotions, and preserve the impressions that stay with us. — You mentioned Nataliia Lopukhova. Tell us about your creative partnership. — In this direction, I work closely with Nataliia Lopukhova, an Honoured Artist of Ukraine and lecturer at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. It is an incredibly meaningful creative partnership for me because we develop the images together.

Everything begins with an idea — a mood, a symbol, an architectural motif, a story, or an impression. We discuss the concept and search for the right artistic language. Nataliia paints, while I work on bringing the complete image to life: I create capes, embellish them, hand-apply stones, and develop headpieces and other details. Gradually, all these elements come together as one complete composition. What makes this process especially meaningful is that we are doing all of this now, during the war. There are moments when air-raid sirens are sounding, explosions can be heard nearby — and yet we continue working on the project. Nataliia paints day and night and then goes to teach her students, while I work simultaneously on my part of the creative process. It is far from easy, but we do not stop. Perhaps this is precisely why creativity carries an even deeper meaning for us today. It is no longer simply about creating beautiful things. It is our inner response to the reality in which we live. Through our inspiration, energy, and determination to continue working and creating beauty, we hope to inspire others as well — to show that even in the most difficult times, it is possible to keep living, creating, dreaming, and moving forward. And perhaps, for me, this is another way of telling the world: Ukraine lives. Ukraine works. Ukraine continues to create. — Our feature is called “Style Icon.” What, in your view, makes a woman a true style icon? — The courage to be yourself. That is what matters most to me. We are all influenced by fashion trends, our upbringing, our environment, and the opinions of others. And amid all of that, it is surprisingly easy to lose your own individuality. I admire women who are not afraid of their radiance, their character, their taste, or their personal vision of beauty. A true style icon is not a woman who follows fashion flawlessly. She is a woman who knows herself so well that fashion becomes part of her individuality — rather than her individuality becoming part of fashion.

— Наталіє, що для Вас означає бути сильною жінкою: зовнішній образ, внутрішній стан, упевненість у собі чи гармонія всього разом? — Насамперед — гармонія всього разом. Справжня сила для мене — це внутрішній стан, коли ти маєш опору, знаєш, чого хочеш, умієш концентруватися і не дозволяєш обставинам керувати тобою. Якщо постійно бути на нервах або втратити зібраність, страждає робота, зникають енергія та внутрішній стрижень. Тому силу в собі потрібно виховувати й тренувати. А зовнішній образ, упевненість і жіночність стають продовженням внутрішньої гармонії. — Ваш образ завжди жіночний, яскравий і впізнаваний. Як сформувався Ваш стиль? — Думаю, ще в дитинстві. Я постійно виступала: спочатку в дитячому садочку, потім у школі. Пізніше були Національний драматичний театр, телебачення, фестивалі. Сцена вчить відчувати образ, деталі, естетику, не боятися уваги й водночас не втрачати себе. Тому мій стиль не був придуманий одного дня — він формувався разом зі мною. Сьогодні мені особливо близька жіночність — виразна, упевнена, але природна. — Як у Вашому житті з’явився бренд YARA, який об’єднав сукні, парфумерію та прикраси? — Я завжди мріяла про власні сукні. А парфумерний напрям виник несподівано — мені запропонували створювати свої аромати. Тоді я зрозуміла, що хочу об’єднати сукні, парфуми та прикраси в одну концепцію. YARA починалася в Україні, у Києві. Згодом я стала представляти свої парфуми на fashion-подіях і фестивалях, дарувати їх VIP-персонам у Монако, Італії та інших країнах. Так бренд почав виходити у світ. І для мене особливо важливо, що сьогодні я можу представляти за кордоном те, що народилося саме в Україні. — Якою Ви бачите жінку YARA? — Жіночною, упевненою в собі й налаштованою перемагати. YARA — це не просто сукня чи красивий аромат. Це образ, створений для конкретної людини. Особливо це стосується парфумерії. Аромати для нас створюють харківські фахівці. Вони знайомляться з образом людини, бачать її фотографію, намагаються зрозуміти її характер і те, що їй потрібно. Аромат може підкреслювати жіночність, додавати впевненості, налаштовувати на перемогу, важливу зустріч чи підписання угоди. І головне — він індивідуальний. Другого такого немає. — Тобто YARA фактично дарує жінці її власний неповторний образ? — Саме так. Ми даруємо людині образ. Цей принцип стосується й прикрас, які створюються за участі майстрів із Харкова та Одеси. Їхній дизайн може бути натхнений картиною Сальвадора Далі, образом тварини чи іншим художнім мотивом. Мені важливо, щоб жінка

відчувала: це створено саме для неї, такого образу більше ні в кого немає. — Що сьогодні надихає Вас найбільше? — Сам світ. Природа, події, архітектура, подорожі. Особливо мене вражають храми та церкви. Іноді достатньо одного сильного враження, щоб народилася ідея. Наприклад, до події, присвяченої Володимиру Великому та княгині Ользі, ми разом із художницею Наталією Лопуховою створюємо тематичні образи для суконь. А коли у Франції я побачила Собор Паризької Богоматері, мені захотілося перенести його образ на сукню. Для мене мода — це не лише тренди. Через неї можна розповідати історії, передавати емоції та зберігати сильні враження. — Ви згадали Наталію Лопухову. Розкажіть про ваш творчий тандем. — У цьому напрямі я працюю в парі з Наталією Лопуховою — заслуженою художницею України, викладачкою Київського національного університету культури і мистецтв. Для мене це дуже цінний творчий тандем, адже образи ми створюємо разом. Усе починається з ідеї — певного настрою, символу, архітектурного мотиву, історії чи враження. Ми обговорюємо задум, шукаємо художнє рішення, Наталка малює, а я працюю вже з самим образом: створюю накидки, декорую їх, нашиваю каміння, продумую головні убори та інші деталі. Так поступово народжується цілісна композиція. І найособливіше, що все це ми робимо сьогодні, під час війни. Буває, навколо лунають сирени, зовсім поруч — вибухи, а ми продовжуємо працювати над проєктом. Наталка може малювати і вдень, і вночі, потім іде на заняття зі студентами, я паралельно займаюся своєю частиною роботи. Це дуже непростий процес, але ми не зупиняємося. Можливо, саме сьогодні творчість для нас має ще глибший сенс. Це не просто створення красивих речей. Це наша внутрішня відповідь обставинам, у яких ми живемо. From her earliest sketches, museum visits, and fascination with traditional Petrykivka painting to her role as Chief Designer and Head of the Design Bureau of a Ukrainian fashion brand, her journey has always been defined by a search for harmony between beauty and life. Her signature batik and hand-painted natural silk reveal yet another dimension of her creativity — one where fashion becomes art. For our “Style Icon” heroine, one principle remains essential: never simply follow an image, but create it — and, within every look, remain unmistakably yourself.

— Liudmyla, you were surrounded by art from an early age — drawing, museums, exhibitions, Petrykivka painting, your first sketches. Would you say this was when your sense of style first began to take shape? — I think so. Creativity has always been part of my life. I loved drawing, studying works of art, noticing colours, shapes, and the way different elements could come together. By the end of school, I already knew with certainty that I wanted to become a fashion designer. At the time, I could not have imagined exactly where my professional journey would lead me, but I already understood one thing: I wanted to create beauty. Over the years, that instinct became my profession, yet my love of art has remained the foundation from which everything began. — Your career has taken you from student collections and the runway to leading a design bureau. Today, what tells you that a garment has truly succeeded? — For me, the most rewarding moment is seeing our clothes worn by someone in real life. Not on a runway or simply in a photograph, but on the street, while travelling, in another city — or even another country. Recently, in Chișinău, I saw a woman wearing a piece by our brand, and it was an incredibly special feeling. In moments like that, you realize that among an enormous variety of choices, someone selected the very piece that your team created. I am drawn to fashion that can truly be lived in. A garment should be beautiful, certainly, but it should also feel comfortable, relevant, and natural to the person wearing it. — As a professional designer, you encounter dozens of trends every day. Where, for you, is the line between fashion and true style? — Trends matter, particularly when you work in the fashion industry. You need to understand the spirit of the moment, what people want, and how their lifestyles are evolving. But I believe style is always far more individual. Not every fashionable piece will suit every person. What matters much more is understanding yourself — knowing what makes you feel comfortable, which colours and silhouettes flatter you, and what allows you to feel confident.

So, to me, style is not about following fashion blindly. It is about taking from fashion only what genuinely feels like your own. — Batik and your signature hand-painted natural silk represent a very distinctive chapter in your creative life. Here, you are not simply a designer but an artist. What does this artistic freedom give you? — Batik is a deeply personal part of my creative world. It gives me greater freedom to explore colour, flowers, artistic imagery, and emotion. Over time, I began receiving bespoke commissions — portraits, landscapes, and subjects that hold a special meaning for a particular person. A client may show me a photograph or simply describe an idea, and I then interpret it through my own visual language. Silk is an extraordinarily beautiful yet demanding material. It seems to have a life of its own, and you have to learn to feel and understand it. That is precisely why no two works are ever completely identical. I especially love seeing a finished silk scarf worn by a woman. At that moment, the artwork ceases to exist merely as an object — it becomes part of her personal style. — Ukrainian motifs have been present in your life since your early fascination with Petrykivka painting. How naturally can national culture become part of a contemporary, sophisticated look? — This is a subject very close to my heart. Ukrainian culture is so rich that it offers extraordinary possibilities for contemporary design. What interests me most is reinterpreting tradition rather than simply reproducing it. It is also part of my family story. My grandmothers embroidered traditional rushnyky and were deeply creative women. Perhaps my own love of art and craftsmanship has travelled through generations. I am convinced that Ukrainian motifs can look remarkably contemporary and elegant. It all depends on how you work with colour, ornament, and form — and how thoughtfully you bring tradition into the present. National identity and modern style can coexist beautifully. — You create images professionally for others. But what does being a “Style Icon” mean to you personally? — For me, it is certainly not about owning countless fashionable things or trying to attract attention. A truly stylish woman knows herself. She understands what suits her and is unafraid to express her individuality. I greatly admire strong, beautiful, creative women who, at the same time, preserve their femininity. I see this especially clearly in Ukrainian women today. They work, support their loved ones, continue to grow, and live through extraordinarily difficult circumstances — yet they still want to feel and look beautiful. But femininity, to me, is never only about appearance. It is an inner energy, the way a woman relates to herself, and her ability to inspire those around her. That is how I understand true style: when the outward image does not disguise the person, but becomes an extension of her character. Тоді я ще не могла передбачити, яким буде мій професійний шлях, але вже розуміла: хочу створювати красу. З часом це відчуття стало професією, але любов до мистецтва залишилася тією основою, з якої все почалося. – Ви пройшли шлях від студентських колекцій і подіуму до керівництва дизайнерським бюро. Що для Вас сьогодні є головною ознакою вдало створеної речі? – Для мене найкращий момент – побачити наш одяг на людині в реальному житті. Не на подіумі й не лише на фотографії, а на вулиці, у подорожі, в іншому місті чи навіть іншій країні. Нещодавно в Кишиневі я побачила жінку в одязі нашого бренду, і це було неймовірно приємно. У такі моменти розумієш: серед величезної кількості речей людина обрала саме те, що створила твоя команда. Мені близька мода, в якій можна жити. Річ має бути красивою, але водночас комфортною, актуальною і природною для людини. – Як професійна дизайнерка, Ви щодня бачите десятки тенденцій. Де для Вас проходить межа між модою і справжнім стилем? – Тренди важливі, особливо коли працюєш у fashion-індустрії. Потрібно відчувати час, розуміти, чого хочуть люди, як змінюється їхній спосіб життя. Але мені здається, що стиль завжди більш індивідуальний. Не кожна модна річ пасуватиме конкретній людині. Значно важливіше розуміти себе: що тобі комфортно, які кольори й форми тебе прикрашають, у чому ти почуваєшся впевнено. Тому для мене стиль – це не сліпе слідування моді, а здатність взяти з неї те, що справді твоє. – Окрема сторінка Вашої творчості – батик і авторський розпис натурального шовку. Тут Ви вже не просто дизайнерка, а художниця. Що дає Вам ця творча свобода? – Батик – дуже особиста частина моєї творчості. Тут я можу дозволити собі більше свободи: працювати з кольором, квітами, художніми образами, настроєм. Згодом з’явилися індивідуальні замовлення – портрети, пейзажі, особливі для людини сюжети. Клієнт може показати фотографію або розповісти свою ідею, а я вже інтерпретую її мовою малюнка. Шовк – надзвичайно красивий і водночас непростий матеріал. Він живе власним життям, і ти маєш його відчувати. Саме тому двох абсолютно однакових робіт практично не буває. Особливо люблю бачити готову хустку на жінці. Тоді малюнок пере-

Наскільки національна культура може бути частиною сучасного стильного образу? – Для мене це дуже близька тема. Українська культура настільки багата, що дає величезний простір для сучасного дизайну. І мені цікаво саме переосмислювати традицію, а не просто копіювати її. Це ще й частина моєї родинної історії. Мої бабусі вишивали рушники, займалися творчістю. Можливо, любов до цього передалася мені через покоління. Я переконана, що українські мотиви можуть виглядати надзвичайно сучасно й елегантно. Все залежить від того, як ти працюєш із кольором, орнаментом, формою, як вписуєш традицію в сьогодення. Національна ідентичність і сучасний стиль чудово можуть існувати разом. – Ви професійно створюєте образи для інших. А що особисто для Вас означає бути «Іконою стилю»? – Для мене це насамперед не про кількість модних речей і не про бажання привертати увагу. Стильна жінка знає себе. Вона розуміє, що їй пасує, і не боїться проявляти свою індивідуальність. Мені дуже подобаються сильні, красиві, творчі жінки, які водночас зберігають жіночність. У часи війни дороги, мости й логістичні маршрути стали тим, від чого залежить і оборона, і бізнес, і щоденне життя людей. Тому питання відновлення та розвитку транспортної інфраструктури сьогодні є не просто галузевим, а загальнодержавним.

Саме над цим працює Оксана Іллівна Дмитрієва — докторка економічних наук, професорка Харківського национального автомобільно-дорожнього університету (ХНАДУ), експертка Національного фонду досліджень України. У 2026 році науковицю відібрано до Національної системи дослідників України. Її шлях у науці розпочався у 2008 році в рідному ХНАДУ, який вона закінчила з відзнакою. Кандидатську дисертацію присвятила управлінню якістю обслуговування пасажирів на автобусних станціях, а докторську — вже питанню загальнодержавного масштабу: «Державне регулювання інноваційного розвитку транспортної інфраструктури». Однойменну монографію відзначено Грамотою Президії Національної академії наук України.

Сьогодні в центрі її досліджень — інноваційний розвиток дорожньо-транспортного комплексу, регіональні програми розбудови інфраструктури та впровадження ESG-підходів у діяльність транспортних підприємств. Результати праць опубліковано у провідних міжнародних виданнях, що індексуються в наукометричних базах Scopus та Web of Science.

Виклики війни: інфраструктура як питання стійкості

Науковий напрям безпосередньо продовжується у викладанні. Оксана Дмитрієва є гаранткою магістерської освітньої програми «Економіка», читає курси з інноваційної економіки, інноваційного підприємництва, управління стартап-проєктами та інноваційного розвитку транспортної інфраструктури, проводить тренінги з управління компанією на основі бізнес-симуляції ViAL+. Серед її науково-педагогічних інтересів — і застосування штучного інтелекту в освіті та економіці.

harkiv is a city where, even to the sound of air raid sirens, work continues to sustain Ukraine’s intellectual and economic frontlines. In times of war, roads, bridges, and logistical routes have become vital lifelines for defense, business, and everyday life. Therefore, the restoration and development of transport infrastructure is no longer merely an industry issue—it is a matter of national importance.

This is precisely the core focus of Oksana Dmytriieva, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor at Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University (KNAHU), and Expert at the National Research Foundation of Ukraine. In 2026, she was selected for inclusion in the National System of Researchers of Ukraine. Her academic journey began in 2008 at her alma mater, KNAHU, from which she graduated with honors. She dedicated her candidate’s disserta-

tion to quality management in passenger service at bus stations, and her doctoral dissertation tackled an issue of national magnitude: “State Regulation of Innovative Development of Transport Infrastructure.” The monograph of the same title was awarded a Diploma of Distinction by the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Today, her research focuses on the innovative development of the road transport complex, regional infrastructure development programs, and the integration of ESG practices into transport enterprise operations. Her findings have been published in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. Challenges of War: Infrastructure as a Matter of Resilience “We have learned to maintain the quality of education and high academic standards even when everything around us is changing completely,”—this main motif defines Oksana Dmytriieva’s daily work. She also conducts business management workshops using the ViAL+ business simulation platform. Her scholarly interests extend to the application of artificial intelligence in education and economics. Із чого для Вас починаються зміни? — Для мене зміни завжди починаються з людини. Не обов’язково робити щось масштабне. Одна розмова, підтримка чи можливість спробувати нове можуть змінити чиєсь життя. Як педагог я багато років працювала з дітьми, молоддю та студентами й сьогодні бачу результати цієї роботи. Вкладене в людину сьогодні може дати результат через багато років. — Творчість посідає особливе місце у Вашій діяльності. Що робить мистецтво важливим інструментом роботи з людьми? — Мистецтво дозволяє людині говорити про себе навіть тоді, коли бракує слів. Це не лише живопис, а й музика, фотографія, театр, дизайн, література, нові ідеї. Творчий простір допомагає експериментувати, відкривати нові грані себе. — Ваші воркшопи об’єднують жінок, дітей і людей із різним досвідом. Що для

Вас найцінніше у таких зустрічах? — Не лише готова робота, а те, що відбувається між людьми. Вони знайомляться, діляться історіями, знаходять однодумців, нові ідеї та друзів. Особливо важливі вони для тих, хто опинився в іншій країні. Творчість об’єднує навіть без слів. — Поняття «жити, а не просто виживати» часто звучить у Ваших розмовах. Коли людина відчуває цю різницю? — Ми легко опиняємося в режимі постійних справ і запитуємо себе: «А де в усьому цьому я?» Життя — це не лише робота та обов’язки. Важливо розвиватися, відчувати радість і жити відповідно до своїх цінностей. Розвиток не має вікових меж. — Новий етап життя Ви будуєте в Німеччині. З якими викликами пов’язаний розвиток діяльності в іншій країні? — Це завжди виклик. За успішним проєктом стоїть щоденна праця: знайомства, переговори, навчання, мовні й культурні бар’єри. Не варто порівнювати свій початок із чиєюсь вершиною. Ми не знаємо, який шлях за ним стоїть.

— Міжнародний напрям Вашої діяльності розвивається. Яким Ви бачите його наступний крок? — Хочу створювати міжнародну культурну платформу, що об’єднуватиме воркшопи, освітні програми, виставки, подорожі та співпрацю з митцями різних країн. У центрі — людина. Вірю, що культура будує мости, руйнує стереотипи й допомагає краще розуміти одне одного. Хочу, щоб Україна мала у цьому діалозі сильний сучасний голос. — Ваша історія поєднує розвиток особистості, мистецтво й культурний діалог. Якою є Ваша головна місія сьогодні? — Допомагати людині відкривати себе, бачити власні можливості й сміливо створювати життя, яке має справжній зміст.

The theme of our project is “Women Who Change the World”. Where do you think change begins? — For me, change always begins with the individual. You don’t necessarily have to do something on a grand scale; a single conversation, a gesture of support, or the chance to try something new can transform someone’s life. As an educator, I spent years working with children, young people, and university students, and today I see the results of that work. What is invested in a person today can bear fruit many years later. — Creativity plays a special role in your work. What makes art an important tool for working with people? — Art allows people to express themselves even when words fail them. It encompasses not only painting, but also music, photography, theatre, design, literature and new ideas. The creative space helps us to experiment and discover new facets of ourselves. — Your workshops bring together women, children, and people from diverse backgrounds. What do you value most about these gatherings?

— It’s not just about the finished work, but what happens between people. They get to know one another, share stories, find likeminded people, new ideas and friends. These connections are particularly important for those who find themselves in a different country. Creativity brings people together even without words. — The concept of «living, not just surviving» often comes up in your conversations. When does a person feel this difference? — We easily find ourselves caught up in a constant whirlwind of tasks, asking ourselves, «Where am I in all this?» Life is about more than just work and responsibilities. It is important to grow, experience joy, and live in alignment with your values. Personal growth knows no age limits. — You are building a new stage of life in Germany. What challenges are associated with the development of activities in another country? — It is always a challenge. Behind every successful project lies daily hard work: meeting people, negotiations, learning, and navigating language and cultural barriers. You shouldn’t compare your beginning to someone

else’s peak; we don’t know the journey that lies behind it. — The international aspect of your business is growing. What do you see as the next step? — I want to create an international cultural platform that will bring together workshops, educational programmes, exhibitions, travel opportunities and collaborations with artists from different countries. People are at the heart of it. I believe that culture builds bridges, breaks down stereotypes and helps us to understand one another better. I want Ukraine to have a strong, contemporary voice in this dialogue. — Your story combines personal development, art and cultural dialogue. What is your main mission today? — To help people discover themselves, recognise their own potential and boldly create a life that is truly meaningful.

YULIIA KRYZHANOVSKA: THE ART OF BRINGING WORLDS TOGETHER S

ome people move to another country and simply build a new life. Others create an entirely new space around themselves — bringing people together, connecting ideas, cultures, and opportunities. Yuliia Kryzhanovska is one of them. A Ukrainian living in Greece, co-founder of the Association “Ukrainian Women in Greece,” and an organizer of civic, cultural, and charitable initiatives, she represents a modern generation of women for whom borders no longer define the scale of their ambitions or impact.

LIVING BETWEEN CULTURES — WITHOUT LOSING YOURSELF Greece has a remarkable way of making people fall in love with it. The sea, the sun, its vibrant temperament, centuries of culture, and a rhythm of life entirely its own. Yet for Yuliia, living abroad has never meant leaving her past behind. Quite the opposite. It was far from home that her Ukrainian identity acquired an even deeper meaning. Long before the full-scale war, Yuliia was involved in organizing Ukrainian-Greek cultural and charitable events in Athens. Her commitment to helping those in need began even earlier: since 2014, she has been supporting orphaned children in Ukraine. Ukrainian culture, traditions, creativity, and philanthropy have become a language through which she tells the story of her country without the need for lengthy explanations. It is diplomacy in its most contemporary form — not institutional, but profoundly human. A kind of diplomacy in which a country is represented, first and foremost, by its people and their actions. WHEN COMPASSION BECOMES ACTION February 24, 2022 changed the meaning of the word “community.” For Yuliia, it also marked the beginning of a new chapter of personal responsibility. Just two days later, on February 26, 2022, she became the first in Greece to open the Vari Humanitarian Center, using her own office as its base,

where donations for Ukraine began to be collected. Yuliia brought volunteers together, coordinated the collection of essential supplies, and by early March had assembled and dispatched the first truckload of humanitarian aid from Greece to Ukraine. Her work did not end with the first months of the war. Together with the Association “Ukrainian Women in Greece,” Yuliia organized charity fairs to raise funds

for Ukrainian children and initiated and supported charitable auctions. Today, she continues to send medicines and medical supplies to frontline regions every month. Perhaps this is where her philosophy is revealed most clearly: not simply to help others herself, but to inspire and unite others around the act of helping. MAKING THE UKRAINIAN VOICE HEARD Over time, Yuliia’s civic engagement expanded far beyond individual charitable initiatives. In 2023, the city’s mayor invited her to stand in the local elections, giving the Ukrainian community an opportunity to have its voice heard and its interests represented. Yuliia also represented the Ukrainian diaspora at a United Nations forum in Madrid. From 2024 to 2026, she has served as a member of a migrant affairs commission within a European Commission project. For Yuliia, however, these roles are never merely about titles or formal representation. Behind each one lies an opportunity to speak for people — about their needs, their challenges, and their right to be heard. This is how a new kind of Ukrainian presence is taking shape around the world: through civic engagement, international dialogue, culture, philanthropy, and personal responsibility. A NAME WITHOUT BORDERS In the twenty-first century, influence can no longer be measured by a single title, profession, or country. Yuliia Kryzhanovska belongs naturally to a generation of people who live between cultures without losing their roots. She has a rare ability to turn introductions into connections, connections into partnerships, and partnerships into tangible action. And yet, amid civic initiatives, international forums, and years of volunteer work, Yuliia has a deeply personal dream of her own — to open a retreat center in Greece. A place devoted to renewal, inner balance, and rediscovering one’s strength. There is something profoundly symbolic about this dream. After years dedicated to supporting, connecting, and helping others, she hopes to create a place where people can restore themselves. Because the true measure of a person is not defined by geography. It is defined by how many people you are able to bring together, how many lives you can touch, and what you ultimately leave behind in the world. These are the stories we call NAMES OF THE MODERN WORLD.

ЮЛІЯ КРИЖАНОВСЬКА: МИСТЕЦТВО ОБ’ЄДНУВАТИ СВІТИ Є

люди, які, опинившись в іншій країні, просто будують нове життя. А є ті, хто створює навколо себе новий простір — знайомить людей, об’єднує ідеї, культури та можливості. Юлія Крижановська саме така. Українка в Греції, співзасновниця Асоціації «Українки в Греції», організаторка громадських, культурних і благодійних ініціатив — вона належить до сучасного покоління жінок, для яких кордони давно перестали визначати масштаб діяльності.

ЖИТИ МІЖ КУЛЬТУРАМИ — І НЕ ВТРАЧАТИ СЕБЕ Греція має особливий талант закохувати в себе. Море, сонце, темперамент, багатовікова культура, інший ритм життя. Але для Юлії життя за кордоном не стало історією про те, щоб залишити минуле позаду. Навпаки. Саме далеко від дому українська ідентичність набула для неї нового змісту. Ще до повномасштабної війни Юлія долучалася до організації українсько-грецьких культурних і благодійних заходів в Афінах. А допомога тим, хто її потребує, почалася для неї значно раніше: ще з 2014 року Юлія підтримує дітей-сиріт в Україні. Українська культура, традиції, творчість і благодійність стали мовою, якою вона розповідає про свою країну без довгих пояснень. Це дуже сучасний вид дипломатії — не кабінетної, а людської. Коли країну представляють передусім люди та їхні вчинки. КОЛИ ДОПОМОГА СТАЄ ДІЄЮ 24 лютого 2022 року змінило значення слова «спільнота». А для Юлії майже одразу почався новий етап особистої відповідальності. Уже 26 лютого 2022 року на базі власного офісу вона першою в Греції відкрила Гуманітарний центр Варі, де почали приймати допомогу для України. Юлія організувала волонтерів, збір необхідного, а вже на початку березня зібрала та відправила першу вантажівку гуманітарної допомоги з Греції в Україну. Ця робота не завершилася першими місяцями війни. Разом з Асоціацією «Українки в Греції» Юлія організовувала благодійні ярмарки для збору коштів дітям України, проводила та підтримувала благодійні аукціони. І сьогодні вона продовжує щомісяця передавати ліки та медичні витратні матеріали у прифронтові регіони. Саме тут особливо проявляється її принцип: не просто допомагати самій, а вміти об’єднати навколо допомоги інших. ЩОБ ГОЛОС УКРАЇНЦІВ БУВ ПОЧУТИЙ Згодом громадська діяльність Юлії вийшла далеко за межі окремих благодійних ініціатив. У 2023 році мер міста запросив її взяти участь у місцевих виборах — щоб голос української громади був почутий, а її інтереси отримали представництво. Юлія також представляла українську діаспору на форумі ООН у Мадриді. У 2024–2026 роках вона є членкинею комісії з питань мігрантів у межах проєкту Європейської комісії. За кожним із цих статусів для неї стоїть не формальна присутність, а можливість говорити про людей, їхні потреби та право бути почутими. Так народжується нова форма української присутності у світі — через громадську активність, міжнародний діалог, культуру, благодійність і особисту відповідальність. ІМ’Я БЕЗ КОРДОНІВ У XXI столітті вплив дедалі складніше виміряти однією посадою чи однією країною. Юлія Крижановська органічно належить до покоління людей, які живуть між культурами, але не втрачають свого коріння. Вона перетворює знайомства на зв’язки, зв’язки — на партнерства, а партнерства — на реальні справи. Та серед громадських проєктів, міжнародних форумів і волонтерської роботи є в Юлії й особиста мрія — відкрити в Греції власний ретрит-центр. Простір відновлення, внутрішньої рівноваги та нового ресурсу для людини. Можливо, в цій мрії є щось дуже символічне. Після років, присвячених тому, щоб підтримувати, об’єднувати й допомагати іншим, створити місце, де люди зможуть відновлювати себе. Бо справжній масштаб особистості визначається не географією. Він визначається тим, скількох людей ти здатен об’єднати, скільком допомогти і що залишаєш після себе у світі. Саме такі історії ми називаємо ІМЕНАМИ СУЧАСНОГО СВІТУ.

Together with my husband, Viktor, we initiated the creation of the “SHAOLIN PHILOSOPHY” civic organisation. This is not merely a civic institution or just another social project; it is a space of Living Memory, established to honour and commemorate my Son, Serhii Kobylkin – a Defender of Ukraine known by the call sign “Shaolin.” Serhii was a man of exceptional inner strength, remarkable spiritual discipline, and nobility and unconditional service to the Ukrainian people. His wisdom and worldview laid the foundation for the “Philosophy of Memory” – a conceptual platform for a project of living action that we now present to society as a whole. This philosophy transforms traditional monumental commemoration into a living, active process, uniting the Warrior’s personal story with national

From static monuments — to Living Memory We aim to transform the very paradigm of national commemoration. Remembrance must not remain a passive archive or a silent monument of granite, where only two dates are commemorated — the date of birth and the date of death. Today’s Defenders are not merely armed soldiers. They are teachers, artists, IT specialists and farmers who consciously chose to defend their homeland. The essence of our mission is to commemorate not the fact of their death, but the meaning of each person’s life and struggle. To honour their life’s code, which should serve as a guiding light for those who continue to live and rebuild Ukraine.

In our work, we are guided by three unshakeable principles: • A value matrix and the individualisation of each person’s story. Every Warrior is a unique universe. Instead of dry biographies, we document their favourite quotes, diary entries, life principles, childhood dreams and messages to their descendants. • Brotherhood and family patronage. Our guiding principle is “A Defender’s Family is a Family for the Community”. We offer “Spaces of Strength”, where psychological, emotional and legal support will be provided to military families, and we support the families of prisoners of war, those missing in action and the seriously wounded. • Gender equality and cultural continuity. We give equal recognition to the heroism of female service personnel, female paramedics and female volunteers, and affirm that our children’s struggle is a direct continuation of the defence of Ukrainian identity and intangible cultural heritage. When memory takes root We strive to ensure that formal school assemblies – which often resemble requiems – give way to a living dialogue. To this end, we are creating “Living Memory Rooms,” planting Memorial Gardens and Parks, and organising youth national-patriotic training camps, as well as car and bicycle rallies. Furthermore, we are fostering cultural diplomacy by translating the profiles of Heroes into foreign languages and collaborating with the diaspora. We present Ukraine to the world not through dry wartime statistics, but through the philosophy of the bright, profound, and educated people who stepped forward to defend it. My core conviction I firmly believe that we have no right to allow our younger generation to grow up in the shadow of unending tragedy. They must grow up in the light of Dignity. When a young man or woman adopts the rules for living of “Shaolin” or any other fallen Defender as their own moral compass — the Warrior lives on. They live on in every good deed, in every triumphant decision, in every corner of our land that has been rebuilt. This is our greatest victory over time, oblivion and our enemies. This is our Living Memory.

а кожним сухим рядком офіційної хроніки цієї війни стоїть унікальний всесвіт. Мрії, цінності, улюблені книжки, посмішка, власна філософія та правила життя. Коли у вічність ідуть найкращі, перед тими, хто залишається, постає найважчий вибір: дозволити невимовному болю спалити тебе зсередини чи знайти у собі сили перетворити цей біль на джерело світла та сили для інших.

Я зробила свій вибір.

Моє головне переконання

Разом із чоловіком Віктором ми стали ініціаторами створення Громадської організації «ФІЛОСОФІЯ ШАОЛІНЬ». Це не просто громадська інституція чи черговий соціальний проєкт. Це — наш простір Живої Пам’яті, заснований на честь і в пам’ять про мого Сина, Захисника України Сергія Кобилкіна з позивним «Шаолінь». Сергій був людиною виняткової внутрішньої сили, дивовижної дисципліни духу, шляхетності та беззастережного служіння українському народові. Його життєва мудрість і світогляд стали підвалинами для «Філософії Пам’яті» — концептуальної платформи проєкту живого чину, яку ми сьогодні пропонуємо всьому суспільству. Ця філософія трансформує традиційне монументальне вшанування у живий, дієвий процес, поєднуючи особистісну історію Воїна із загальнонаціональними цінностями та глибинним культурним кодом України.

Я глибоко вірю, що ми не маємо права допустити, щоб наше молоде покоління виростало в тіні суцільної трагедії. Воно має зростати у світлі Гідності. Коли юнак чи дівчина бере за власні моральні орієнтири правила життя «Шаоліня» або іншого полеглого Захисника чи Захисниці — Воїн продовжує жити. Він живе у кожному доброму вчинку, у кожному переможному рішенні, у кожному відбудованому куточку нашої землі. Це і є наша найбільша перемога над часом, забуттям та ворогами. Це і є наша Жива Пам’ять.

Від статичних монументів — до Живої Пам’яті Ми прагнемо змінити саму парадигму національного вшанування. Пам’ять не повинна залишатися пасивним архівом чи мовчазним гранітом, біля якого згадують лише дві дати — народження та загибелі. Сучасні Захисники і Захисниці — це не просто воїни зі зброєю. Це вчителі, митці, IT-фахівці, хлібороби, які свідомо пішли захищати свій дім. Суть нашої місії — меморіалізувати не факт загибелі, а сенс життя і боротьби кожної людини. Вшанувати її життєвий код, який має стати дієвим дороговказом для тих, хто продовжує жити й відбудовувати Україну. У нашій діяльності ми спираємося на три непорушні принципи: • Матриця цінностей та індивідуалізація чину. Кожен Воїн — це окремий космос. Замість сухих біографій ми документуємо улюблені вислови, щоденникові записи, правила життя, дитячі мрії та заповіти нащадкам. • Братство та родинний патронат. Наш головний орієнтир — «Родина Захисника — Родина для громади». Ми пропонуємо «Простори Сили», де надаватиметься психоемоційна та правова підтримка родинам військових, підтримуємо сім’ї полонених, зниклих безвісти та важкопоранених. • Гендерна рівність та культурна спадкоємність. Ми рівноцінно висвітлюємо подвиг жінок-військовослужбовиць, парамедикинь і волонтерок та стверджуємо, що боротьба наших дітей є прямим продовженням захисту української ідентичності та нематеріальної культурної спадщини. Коли пам’ять пускає коріння Ми прагнемо, щоб формальні шкільні лінійки-реквієми поступилися місцем живому діалогу. Для цього ми створюємо «Світлиці живої пам’яті», висаджуємо Сади та Парки Пам’яті, проводимо молодіжні національно-патріотичні вишколи, авто- та велопробіги. А через переклад профілів Героїв іноземними мовами та співпрацю з діаспорою розвиваємо культурну дипломатію. Ми показуємо світові Україну не через суху статистику війни, а через філософію світлих, глибоких, освічених людей, які стали на її захист.

ути живоносцем — означає нести в собі живильну силу пам’яті, традиції та любові до рідної землі й повсякчас передавати цей ресурс далі, перетворюючи його на дію. Моя історія — про те, як перетворювати пам’ять на силу, традицію — на дію, а любов до України — на щоденну відповідальність. Я давно перестала сприймати культурну спадщину лише як те, що потрібно берегти на полицях чи в архівах. Для мене вона має працювати: на людину, громаду, українську ідентичність, нашу стійкість і майбутнє. Саме тому моє професійне кредо сьогодні — «Спадщина як дія», а особисте гасло — «Тримаймо стрій українства». Якщо ми знаємо, ким були, розуміємо, ким є, і свідомо передаємо це далі, нас неможливо позбавити головного — власної ідентичності. Понад два десятиліття мого професійного шляху пов’язані з управлінням, а останні роки — з культурою. Сьогодні як завідувач сектору з питань охорони культурної спадщини Стрийської районної державної адміністрації та очільниця Громадської спілки «Український інститут нематеріальної культурної спадщини» я прагну побачити за кожною традицією людину, за

To be a bearer of life means to carry within oneself the life-giving power of memory, tradition and love for one’s native land, and at all times pass this resource on, transforming it into action. My story is about how to turn memory into strength, tradition into action, and love for Ukraine into a daily responsibility. I stopped seeing cultural heritage merely as something to be preserved on shelves or in archives a long time ago. For me, it must work for the benefit of the individual, the community, Ukrainian identity, our resilience and our future. That is precisely why my professional credo today is “Heritage as Action”, and my personal motto is “Let us hold the ranks of Ukrainian identity”. If we know who we were, understand who we are, and consciously pass this on, it is impossible to strip us of what matters most — our own identity. More than two decades of my professional career have been devoted to management, whilst in recent years I have focused on culture. Today, as head of the cultural heritage section at the Stryi District State Administration and chair of the

Культура та нематеріальна культурна спадщина — це соціальний клей громади. Мова, пісня, обряд, гастрономія, родинна пам’ять та історія свого села формують глибинне відчуття: «Це моє. Це наше. У своїй роботі, зокрема над Реєстром нематеріальної культурної спадщини Стрийського району, Реєстром нематеріальної культурної спадщини національних спільнот та корінних народів України Львівської області, відкритим реєстром «Мереживо Народу» — я вибудовую чіткий ланцюжок: Пошук – Дослідження – Фіксація – Збереження – Передача – Промоція – Продукт – Розвиток. Ці реєстри постали як живий цифровий щит та національний оберіг української ідентичності. “Ukrainian Institute of Intangible Cultural Heritage” public association, I strive to see the person behind every tradition, the history behind every element, and the potential for development behind that history. I am interested in practical implementation: how to engage young people, turn a craft into an opportunity for a master craftsman, make local cuisine a tourist brand, digitise memory, or create a rehabilitation space for veterans. Culture and intangible cultural heritage are the social glue that binds a community together. Language, song, rituals, gastronomy, family memories and the history of one’s village shape a deepseated sense of: “This is mine. This is ours. I am from here.” A person who knows their roots understands much better what they are striving for as they move forward. In my work – particularly on the Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Stryi District, the Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage of National Communities and Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine in the Lviv Region, and the open register “Merezhyvo Narodu” (“Lace of the People”) – I am establishing a clear sequence: Search – Research – Documentation – Preservation – Transmission – Promotion – Product – Development. These registers have emerged as a living digital shield and a national safeguard of Ukrainian identity. They are designed to weave together the ancestral heritage of local communities, the living traditions of indigenous peoples and national communities, and the acquisitions of the Ukrainian diaspora throughout the world into a single, indivisible cultural tapes-

Справжній результат — це коли дитина вчиться у старших, майстер передає знання учневі, а громада пишається власною автентикою. Організовані національні рекорди — не про цифри чи статистику, а про територіальний маркетинг через щиру емоцію та спосіб привернути увагу світу до нашої ідентичності. Аби спадщина мала майбутнє, вона повинна мати носіїв. Тому я свідомо багато працюю з молоддю, ініціюю освітні та краєзнавчі проєкти, розвиваю цифрові ресурси, вебплатформи й аудіогіди. Українська культура має говорити із сучасною людиною її мовою — у смартфоні, на карті, у соціальних мережах. Окремий пласт моєї діяльності — дослідження спадщини гетьмана Івана Виговського та роз-

виток його Центру спадщини. Це нагадування про відповідальність державця та ціну нашої незалежності. Війна показала, наскільки культура потрібна для відновлення людини. Проєкти «Віднова для віднови», «Варта Сенсів», «Сад Пам’яті і Мрій», робота з ремеслами та рекорди України, створені разом із ветеранами, — це простір гідності, де можна повернути відчуття зв’язку з життям. У моєму житті культура природно переплелася з волонтерством та діяльністю штабу «Клаптик Надії». Принцип простий: бачиш потребу — дієш. Моя формула діяльності: Спадщина – Історія – Емоція – Цінність – Дія. Я називаю це строєм українства. Стрій — це коли кожен стоїть у строю і кожен має своє місце. Коли ми різні, але не роз’єднані. Коли пам’ятаємо своє, але творимо майбутнє. У 55 років я не підбиваю підсумків, а будую систему, де культурна спадщина — як матеріальна, так і нематеріальна — є сильною, діджиталізованою, економічно спроможною та впевнено говорить зі світом. Tradition must live on, weaving communities together into a shared space, rather than remaining merely on paper. This is also confirmed by the work on elements included in the National Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ukraine — the culture of preparing “Zasypana kapusta” (traditional Ukrainian stewed cabbage with millet) and the wedding ritual “Zaplitannia doli” (“Weaving the Destiny”). True success is when a child learns from their elders, a master passes on their knowledge to an apprentice, and the community takes pride in its own authenticity.

My formula for action: Heritage – History – Emotion – Value – Action. I call this the rank of Ukrainian identity – a formation is when everyone stands in line and everyone has their place; when we are different, but not divided; when we remember our heritage, but shape the future.

For our heritage to have a future, it must have people to carry it forward. That is why I make a conscious effort to work extensively with young people, initiate educational and local history projects, and develop digital resources, web platforms and audio guides. Ukrainian culture must speak to modern people in their own language — on their smartphones, on maps and on social media. The war has shown just how essential culture is for a person’s recovery. Projects such as “Vidnova dlia Vidnovy” (“Recovery for Renewal“), “Varta Sensiv” (“Guard of Senses”), “The Garden of Memory and Dreams”, work on traditional crafts, and Ukrainian records set in collaboration with veterans – these create a space of dignity where one can regain a sense of connection with life. In my life, culture has naturally become intertwined with volunteering and the activities of the “Klaptyk Nadii” (“Patch of Hope”) headquarter. The principle is simple: if you see a need, you act.

Які етапи стали для Вас фундаментом у роботі з дорослими? — Мій професійний шлях — це постійний діалог науки й практики. Я досліджувала, як навчати дорослих і будувати навчання навколо конкретної людини. Кандидат наук, доцент, наукові публікації, досвід перекладача в Англії та понад 20 років викладання формували мене як викладача. Для мене важливо не просто знати методику, а бачити, як вона працює з реальною людиною, аналізувати результат і вдосконалювати свій підхід. — Серед Ваших учнів — люди, звиклі до високих результатів. Що найчастіше змушує їх відкладати вивчення англійської? — Вони не завжди розуміють її значення. У житті є робота, відповідальність, бізнес, постійний брак часу. А ще — страх опинитися в ситуації, де успішна людина раптом не може вільно висловитися. Тому дорослому важливо бачити конкретний сенс англійської саме для себе: не «треба вчити», а «це допоможе мені вирішувати мої професійні завдання». — Робота в Англії дала Вам можливість відчути мову зсередини. Яке відкриття стало визначальним? — Я побачила англійську не просто як систему правил, а як живу комунікацію — контекст, інтонацію, культуру, намір лю-

дини. Саме тому сьогодні я вчу дорослих не лише правильно говорити. Мені важливо, щоб вони могли висловити позицію, аргументувати, вести переговори, презентувати себе та свої ідеї — тобто використовувати англійську як реальний професійний інструмент. — Для Ваших учнів мова часто стає містком до міжнародного середовища, де відкриваються нові можливості для неї. Так? — Англійська — це доступ до міжнародного середовища, інформації, партнерів, проєктів і можливостей. Коли зникає мовний бар’єр, людина може впевненіше презентувати себе, вести переговори, говорити про свій бізнес і бути активною учасницею міжнародного життя. Конкретні історії своїх учнів я не розповідаю — це питання довіри, але саме такі зміни бачу у своїй практиці. — Ваш принцип — «не припиняй вчитися, коли навчаєш інших». З чого розпочати тим, хто давно відкладає англійську? — Я продовжую вчитися у своїх учнів нових підходів у професії. Тому дорослим раджу не чекати «правильного моменту». Визначте, навіщо вам англійська: для бізнесу, роботи, міжнародного спілкування чи розвитку. Поставте конкретну мету й починайте говорити вже зараз. Не потрібно спочатку «вивчити англійську», щоб нею користуватися.

— Welcome, Maryna, and it’s a pleasure to meet you. Your career path combines theory and practice. What stages have formed the foundation of your work with adults? — My professional journey has been a constant dialogue between theory and practice. I have researched how to teach adults and how to tailor teaching to the individual. My PhD, academic rank of Associate Professor, my academic publications, my experience as a translator in England, and over 20 years of teaching have shaped me as a teacher. For me, it is important not just to know the methodology, but to see how it works with a real person, to analyse the results and to refine my approach. –There are people who are used to achieving high results among your students. What is the most common reason that causes them to put off learning English? — They do not always understand its significance. Life involves work, responsibilities, business, and a constant lack of time. There is also the fear of finding oneself in a situation where a successful person suddenly cannot express themselves freely. That is why it is important for an adult to see specific value of English for themselves – not just “I need to learn it,” but “this will help me handle my professional tasks.” — Working in England gave you the chance to experience the language from the inside. Which discovery proved to be the most significant? — I came to view English not merely as a system of rules, but as

a form of living communication – encompassing context, intonation, culture, and human intent. That is precisely why, today, I teach adults more than just how to speak correctly. It is important to me that they are able to articulate their position, put forward arguments, negotiate, and present themselves and their ideas – in other words, to use English as a genuine professional tool. — For your pupils, language often serves as a bridge to the international arena, where new opportunities open up for them. Isn’t that right? — English provides access to an international environment, information, partners, projects and opportunities. When the language barrier is removed, people can present themselves with greater confidence, conduct negotiations, talk about their business and play an active role in international life. I do not share specific stories about my students — it is a matter of trust — but these are precisely the kinds of changes I see in my teaching practice. — Your motto is “never stop learning whilst teaching others”’. Where should those who have been putting off learning English for a long time start? — I continue to learn new approaches to my profession from my students. That’s why I advise adults not to wait for the “right moment”. Decide why you need English: for business, work, international communication or personal development. Set yourself a specific goal and start speaking right now. You don’t need to “learn English” first in order to use it.

ПСИХОЛОГІЧНИЙ ТЕАТР «СИТУАЦІЯ» Повна зала людей: дніпрян, гостей міста, експертів, журналістів, поціновувачів мистецтва… Абсолютна тиша та затамований подих від очікування. З цього почалась прем’єра неймовірно унікального, абсолютно інноваційного культурного проєкту «Психологічний театр «Ситуація». Авторка проєкту Людмила АКИМЕНКО зазначає, що дуже довго виношувала ідею, аби вона, сформувавшись, увібрала в собі виключно корисні практичні поради та ефективність психологічної допомоги людям через формат театральної вистави. «Як жінка, яка пройшла на сьогодні великий шлях власних трансформацій, я розумію, що молоді люди, які планують створювати міцні союзи, зовсім не знають, як до цього підготуватись. Більшість з них не дозволяє собі звернутись до експертів по допомогу. Статистика розлучень говорить нам про те, що ми не маємо на сьогодні культуру побудови здорових стосунків, через нерозуміння себе та невміння комунікувати. Ці питання дуже довгий час формували в мені ідею створення проєкту, який би через інтерактивний формат мали змогу допомогти нашій нації, допомогти жінкам та чоловікам знаходити спільну мову, створювати в сім’ях атмосферу довіри, гармонії, розуміння та підтримки. Формат проєкту містить у собі театральні постановки найрізноманітніших ситуацій, з якими стикається кожна людина на планеті. Психологічний театр – це особлива форма впливу на людину через творчість, адже театральне мистецтво здатне дуже досконало проявляти внутрішній світ людини та змінювати її. Через призму творчості ми можемо надати людині можливість зробити важливі кроки на шляху до змін. Це і про оздоровлення стосунків, про налагодження комунікації, досягнення порозуміння з оточуючими, розкриття внутрішнього потенціалу. Окрім того, психологічний театр «Ситуація» має за мету розвивати психологічний напрямок театрального мистецтва. Це абсолютно нова концепція, що може бути ефективно застосована, як інноваційна терапевтична модель. Психологи зазначають, що в деяких життєвих обставинах саме театральні вистави можуть стати єдиним способом вирішення складних стосунків з оточуючими. І тут на допомогу може прийти саме театральна вистава, яка дозволить глядачеві долучитись до знайомої йому ситуації без прямого контакту з фахівцем, проте отримати необхідні відповіді. Цей інтерактив подарує глядачеві можливість побачити схожу ситуацію зі сторони та зрозуміти, як варто діяти, аби зберегти стосунки, про які йтиме мова у виставі. проєкту відповіли на понад сто питань гостей заходу. Спеціалісти, які були представлені на проєкті зазначили, що велика війна ще більше погіршила стан українців, яких варто рятувати. Вони неодноразово наголосили, що до психологів, психотерапевтів, психіатрів, сексологів, неврологів та коучей варто звертатись у будь-якій життєвій ситуації, аби підтримати ментальне здоров’я. Тим самим ми будемо здатні створювати стосунки, які матимуть гарне продовження. Які даруватимуть нашій нації міцні союзи, здорове покоління майбутніх українців. PSYCHOLOGICAL THEATRE «SITUATION» A full hall of people: Dnipro residents, guests of the city, experts, journalists, art connoisseurs... There was absolute silence and bated breath from anticipation at the start of the premiere of the incredibly unique, absolutely innovative cultural project «Psychological Theatre «Situation». The author of the project Lyudmila Akymenko notes that she has been nurturing the idea for a very long time so that, once formed, it would incorporate extremely useful practical advice and the effectiveness of psychological assistance to people through the format of a theatrical performance. «As a woman who has gone through a long way of her own transformations, I understand that young people who plan to create strong unions do not know how to prepare themselves for this at all. Most of them do not allow themselves to turn to experts for help. Divorce statistics tell us that we do not currently have a culture of building healthy relationships due to a lack of self-understanding and inability to communicate. For a very long time, these questions formed in me the idea of creating a project that through an interactive format would be able to help our nation, help women and men find a common language, create an atmosphere of trust, harmony, understanding and support in families. Thus, years later, the Psychological Theatre «Situation» was born, which we presented to the birthday of our city,» commented Lyudmila Akymenko. The format of the project includes theatrical productions of a wide variety of situations faced by every person on the planet. Psychological theatre is a special form of influence on a person through creation, because theatrical art is able to perfectly manifest the inner world of 52

a person and change him or her.We can empower people in the light of creation to take important steps toward change. It is also about improving relationships, establishing communication, achieving understanding with others and revealing inner potential. In addition, the psychological theatre «Situation» aims to develop the psychological direction of theatrical art. This is a completely new concept that can be effectively applied as an innovative therapeutic model. Psychologists point out that theatrical performance can be the only way to resolve difficult relationships with others in some life circumstances. The experts with a psychological specialty reveal the topics of situations, causes and consequences and give practical advices in the project. They take their professional tools and help people see the objectivity of life’s situations. The themes of future performances will consist of real stories, which we expect to receive from you through social networks. Due to the realities of our lives, not all Ukrainians can turn to a psychologist for help today, because this type of communication foresees openness,

which requires special courage. And this is where a theatrical performance can come to the rescue allowing the viewer to participate in a familiar situation without direct contact with a specialist, but to get the necessary answers. This interactive will give the viewer the opportunity to see a similar situation from the outside and understand how to act in order to preserve the relationship that will be discussed in the play. The premiere of the first performance of the psychological theatre «The Situation» proved that Ukrainians today desperately need psychological help. The project’s experts answered more than a hundred questions of the guests of the event. Specialists who were presented at the project noted

that the great war further worsened the state of Ukrainians and they should be saved. They repeatedly emphasized that psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, sexologists, neurologists and coaches should consult in any life situation to support mental health. In this way, we will be able to create relationships having a good continuation and giving our nation strong unions and a healthy generation of future Ukrainians. After all, it is for them that we now choose our freedom and independence.
