Garrison Commander Urges PA Coordination

The military personnel at Fort Lee, whether they are students or permanent party, are often on the receiving end of gracious and generous support from community members outside the gate and the many charitable organizations and groups who sponsor special events and activities here.

We certainly don't want to discourage that support, but we do ask for your assistance in channeling it. Our goal is to ensure the safety of our military men and women and to maintain compliance with DoD regulations governing the release of public information.

To accomplish that, we need visibility of special events and activities military personnel are participating in. This holds true for Navy, Marine and Air Force organizations VWDWLRQHG RQ SRVW DV ZHOO DV IRU $UP\ XQLWV 7KH *DUULVRQ Public Affairs Office works with PA contacts from each of its sister-services to provide proactive assistance and support.

7KHUH DUH PDQ\ GLIIHUHQW VFHQDULRV Âą IRU H[DPSOH D military support organization contacts your unit and wants to arrange a visit by a well-known public figure or they want to invite troops to a special gathering or public event – in which your first question should be, “Have you coordinated with the Public Affairs Office?â€?

Tornado Drill Coming Soon Last year, 51 tornadoes touched down in Virginia resulting in 10 deaths, more than 100 injured people, and significant property damage. Severe thunderstorm systems this past March 2-3 produced tornadoes that ripped across the Midwest and South killing over 50 people. Although storm surveys are still being conducted, preliminary reports indicate that at least 64 tornadoes touched down across 14 states. The tragedy of these recent events provides an opportunity to re-affirm the importance of emergency preparedness.

On March 20th, Fort Lee will conduct an installation-wide Tornado Drill to assist organizations and individuals in practicing how to respond to Tornado Watches and Warnings. MCAC Competitors Collect Medals, Significant Titles

More than 340 military food service specialists gathered at the Fort Lee Theater Friday for the final event of the largest culinary arts competition in North America.

During the crowning moment of the awards ceremony, Team Fort Stewart was presented the highly coveted title of Installation of the Year.

The 37th Annual Military Culinary Arts Competition award ceremony also recognized the work of the many Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen and international competitors who converged on Fort Lee to display their cooking talents and kitchen knowledge. It acknowledged the individuals who organized and judged the monumental contest as well.

In a sweeping victory, Fort Stewart team members earned the titles of Armed Forces Chef of the Year and Junior Chef of the Year, won the Student Team Skills competition and mastered the Baron H. Galand Culinary Knowledge Bowl.

Sgt. Maj. David Turcotte, Fort Stewart team captain, earned a silver medal and won Chef of the Year while Spc. Jacqueline Canidy earned a gold medal and the junior chef title.

“At the 3rd Infantry Division, we train hard every day and with every single asset,” Turcotte said. “We’ve got division assets behind us, and we planned on winning.”

Turcotte said he was proudest of the young members on the team, many of whom have never competed before (see

pages 20-21 for full story).

“My kids have worked hard and trained hard,” he said.

“They worked late nights and Saturdays and Sundays.

They really wanted to bring the award back with them to Stewart and begin a new tradition.”

Fort Stewart has been absent as a competitor from the annual competition for more than five years, Turcotte noted.

Last year’s top winner, Team Pentagon, earned second place for Installation of the Year and Fort Hood, trailing the others by less than two points, earned third place.

The Armed Forces Enlisted Aide Competition, a new category to the event, is a comprehensive evaluation of food service personnel who are assigned to the staff of many of the top leaders around the armed forces. Thirteen enlisted aides from the Army, Navy and Coast Guard competed this year.

Navy Culinary Specialist Chief Derrick Davenport, enlisted aide to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, earned the first-time title. Sgt. Matthew Flemister, enlisted aide to the Director of the Army Staff, Lt. Gen. William J. Troy, was the runner-up.

The Field Cooking Competition consisted of a five-person team planning, preparing and serving a three-course meal – restaurant style for 80 diners.

The team from Fort Hood prepared a broccoli, beer and bacon soup with smoked Gouda cheese as the starter; served a pan-seared and roasted rack of lamb paired with a blackberry and port wine reduction, roasted corn and

caramelized onion relish topped with a polenta chip bacon and cheddar croquette, sautéed green beans and bell pepper lozenges for their entrée; and finished with a chocolate decadence cake accompanied with orange sorbet in an almond Florentina cup and pomegranate sauce, which earned a gold medal and won the competition.

Capitalizing on their location and the Texas cowboy flare, the team members decorated the tables with cactus plants, bandana napkins and straw cowboy-hats for each guest. Mini metal buckets with shelled peanuts and cowboy boot-shaped glasses completed the presentation that was dubbed the “Fort Hood Lone Star Saloon.” The whimsical atmosphere earned a gold medal and title in the new category – Best Decorated Table.

The teams from the Pentagon and Fort Stewart earned gold medals as well and were second and third place winners for field cooking.

As well as pleasing the eye and palette, the competition is designed to train and improve the overall level of food service professionalism. The Joint Center of Culinary Excellence, where members of the Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force begin their training in culinary arts, organizes the event.

“Whether competitors left with a gold medal or an honorable mention, they are taking with them new experiences and skills that they can apply back home in their units,” said Chief Warrant Officer 4 Russell Campbell, chief, Advanced Food Service Training Division.

WHM Event Features ‘All-Star’ Panels A Women’s History Month observance here March 22 will feature two all-female general officer panel discussions focusing on learning opportunities that enabled them to grow, adapt and become part of our military’s senior leadership.

The morning panel discussion is set for 9:30-11:30 a.m., and the topic is “Institutional Education.” The afternoon session is set for 1:30-3 p.m., and the topic is “Operational Experiences.”

All Fort Lee community members are encouraged to participate by joining the audience at the Army Logistics University multi-purpose room or watching it live through the streaming video link that will be available on the Army Women’s Museum Facebook site or the Sustainment Knowledge Network (the museum can be found under CASCOM).

Led by Brig. Gen. Gwen Bingham, the first female Quartermaster General for the Army, the panel members also will include the first female promoted to the rank of brigadier general in the Army

Corps of Engineers and the first female African-American to be promoted to the rank of major general in the Army Reserve “To our knowledge, a panel of this sort has never before been put together to discuss military education opportunities,” said Francoise Bonnell, the event coordinator and director of the Army Women’s Museum. “The panelists represent the phenomenal talent of our senior female leaders. They truly are the living example of success among women in today’s military.”

Bonnell said the panel discussion was Bingham’s idea. She asked the Army Women’s Museum and the Installation Equal Opportunity Office to partner with the Quartermaster Center and School for the program.

“The 2012 National Women’s History Month Theme is ‘Women’s Education – Women’s Empowerment.’ It seemed a natural fit to focus our event around this theme since Fort Lee is a training center,”

Bonnell said. “Thus, our topic is ‘Army Learning: Empowering our Army through Education.’ These panels will give officers, warrant officers and noncommissioned officers – especially those attending their professional military education courses at Fort Lee – the opportunity to learn from the experience of some very accomplished military leaders.”

Another advantage of the panel format, Bonnell noted, is the open opportunity for audience questions and discussion. “In the spirit of Army Learning Concept 2015, this Women’s History Month event is going beyond traditional teaching models and creating an opportunity for the audience to interact with both the presenters and the material,” she said. “The panel and the audience will represent a continuum of learning that has been acquired from both institutional learning and operational experience.”

While encouraging everyone at Fort Lee to participate in the event, Bonnell made note of the significance of having such a

distinguished panel of experts assembled here for the sole purpose of sharing their tips for educational advancement and career success.

“This is a very impressive assembly of women who have accomplished historic achievements in the military,” she said. “The mere fact that they took the time to fit this into their busy schedules speaks to the importance of this event. Let’s show them how much we appreciate their efforts by attending or watching the event and gleaning all the information we can from them through questions and participation in the discussions.”

Due to limited parking at the ALU, those who would like to attend the observance in person are encouraged to use the free shuttle service that will transport participants from the SCoE parking lot to the ALU. The service will run from 8-9 a.m., 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3-4 p.m.

Survey to Assess Value of FMWR Programs Numerous Family and MWR patrons in the Fort Lee community, chosen at random, are being asked to participate in an Army survey that will help shape the future of recreation programs at military bases worldwide.

Launched at the beginning of March and available through the end of April, the survey seeks to identify what customers are interested in, whether they are using available services and if so, how satisfied they are with the programming their garrison has to offer. The Marketing Research and Analysis Branch of the FMWR Programs Directorate, U.S. Army Installation Management Command, will distribute the survey to randomly selected participants at 75 garrisons.

According to project managers, this survey will directly aid garrisons by giving them feedback from their communities. â&#x20AC;&#x153;The survey is going to give us the information we need to make sound business decisions based on customer interest,â&#x20AC;? said Joseph Rayzor, marketing chief for Family and MWR Programs. â&#x20AC;&#x153;There is great value for senior leadership to receive input from the entire Army community,â&#x20AC;? added Rayzor. â&#x20AC;&#x153;The survey information will be used to shape Family and MWR programs and services that support the Army of the future.â&#x20AC;?

Those selected to participate in the Army FMWR Services Survey will be contacted by email. Follow-up

messages will be sent by postal mail. Survey answers can be submitted online or through traditional means. Timely participation by those selected for the survey is essential to the accurate measurement of FMWR services.

Night at Museum Returns to Post After breaking attendance records in 2011, Night at the Quartermaster Museum returns for its third year on March 24, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the U.S. Army Quartermaster Museum, Fort Lee. During this popular free event, students in 1st through 6th grades use objects from the museum’s extensive teaching collection to “piece” together the story of the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps by assisting historical figures who step out of the museum exhibitions.

Many new characters are part of the event this year.

Students will be there when a quartermaster officer learns about Pvt. George Watson’s (29th Quartermaster Regiment) heroic acts during World War II for which he was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the first African American to be so honored, and the Medal of Honor. They will learn about the importance of the efficient delivery of supplies to troops after the D-Day invasion directly from the Supreme Allied Commander himself, Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower. They will hear how combating “cooties” (lice) on the battlefield prompted the development of the Quartermaster’s Field Services Units.

Students will also have hands-on learning experiences with the museum’s teaching collection led by museum educators. They may create special quartermaster-inspired crafts and play games. Light refreshments will be provided.

Recent Rash of Tornadoes Proves Importance of March 20 Drill

On March 2, an unprecedented storm event in Middle America killed at least 38 people and left countless individuals homeless.

The tornado rampage was historic, the worst in 24 years, according to weather teams reporting on the disaster. The small town of Henryville, Ind., witnessed a rare EF-4 (Enhanced Fujita Scale) twister with sustained winds between 166 and 200 mph.

“It was unreal,” recalled storm survivor Todd Money during a local newspaper interview. “The pressure on your body; your ears popping; the sound of trees snapping … it’s horrible.”

What the nation witnessed through news coverage in the days following the storm was nothing short of tragic. Entire communities were leveled. Structures that were thought to be “storm-proof” were torn apart. And many families were devastated by the loss of loved ones.

“When we stopped what we were doing to read those stories or watch those news reports, how many of us considered the potential impact of even one tornado sweeping through our neighborhood or Fort Lee itself?” questioned Scott Brown, the director of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security.

His department oversees emergency response planning and the functions of the Installation Operations Center here.

“No matter how unpleasant the thought may be, it’s a reality we all have to face,” Brown said while pointing out the 51 tornadoes that touched down in Virginia last year – killing 10, injuring more than 100 and also laying homes, schools and community buildings to waste. “At a minimum, we need to know how to respond quickly and what actions would give us the best chance of survival. To put it succinctly, having a plan could save your life.”

What more needs to be said when considering the importance of the post-wide tornado drill that will be conducted here Tuesday?

Installation leaders are encouraging participation by every employee and resident. The community should not lose sight of the effectiveness of practice drills or the recent disaster that demonstrated how vulnerable any community, to include an Army installation, can be when Mother Nature unleashes her wrath.

“Let’s do this the right way,” Brown said. “Take advantage of this exercise by truly rehearsing your shelter in place and tornado response plans. It should be very clear

by now that the payoff of practice and preparedness can be very significant if the real thing comes along.”

The safest places are typically the basement away from any windows. If there is no basement, go to a windowless interior room such as a closet on the lowest level of the building.

On Tuesday, the operations center will announce the start of the drill (tornado watch) through email, using LeeKey. The post-wide siren system and interior voice will signal the tornado “Warning” and the subsequent “All Clear.” There also will be training conducted by members of the Crisis Action Team to focus recovery efforts to expedite return to normal levels of basic services following a tornado should one impact Fort Lee. Employees should act as though a tornado warning has been issued for the immediate area or a tornado has been sighted near the building. They should move as quickly as possible to the nearest safe place in the building. Be sure to use stairs to reach the lowest level of a building. Avoid using an elevator.

In a real tornado emergency, once people reach safe areas, they would crouch as low as possible to the floor, facing down and cover their heads with their hands. SMOKE ALARM ALERT With Daylight Savings Time, Ensure Detector Batteries Are Changed When you changed your clocks over the weekend for daylight savings time, did you remember to check the batteries in your smoke alarms?

That’s the question being posed by Fort Lee Fire and Emergency Services. The agency encourages everyone to check their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors on a regular basis. Check the manufacturer’s expiration date on the label, replace batteries if needed and clean off any dust or debris.

Smoke alarms have become such a common feature in U.S. homes that it is easy to take them for granted. Smoke alarms are appliances, just like toasters, televisions and furnaces. Unlike other appliances, these devices function quietly in the background. Its alarm, in response to a real smoke situation or to testing, is the only evidence that it works. A

stereo that does not play will not lead to tragedy, but a wornout smoke alarm, failing to sound in a fire, could. That’s the reason that all smoke alarms (hard-wired and/or battery powered) should be replaced every 10 years.

The peak time for home fire fatalities is between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. while most families are sleeping. Did you know many people lose their sense of smell during a deep sleep stage and do not wake up when smoke is present? The death rate per 100 reported fires is twice as high in homes without a working smoke alarm as it is in home fires with this protection. Missing or non-working smoke alarms rob residents of valuable seconds that could allow them to escape safely.

Young children, older adults and people with disabilities are most at risk and working smoke alarms may provide these residents the necessary time to safely evacuate.

It is easy to forget that a smoke alarm’s sole function is to sound the warning. People need to develop and practice escape plans so that if the alarm sounds, they can get out quickly. It’s imperative that home escape plans include two exits from each room and a designated meeting place outside.

Once you’re outside, stay outside and be sure to let firefighters know if everyone has made it out safely. These simple steps will help ensure that you and your Family will have the best chance of surviving if fire should strike. Remind friends, Family, neighbors and fellow community members to do the same.

VFW Brings National Comedians to Chester A night of laughter is being served up by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Robert E. Lee Post No. 2239 in Chester Friday as it welcomes four well-known comedians – KD the Comic, Sampson, Tom Myers and Troy Robinson.

A

t Fort Stewart, Ga., Soldier and Family readiness command center stage. After all, its chief tenant, the 3rd Infantry Division, has been one of the busiest in the Army over the past decade, having deployed to Southwest Asia four times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

So imagine the challenge the installationâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s food service establishment faced when it proposed to organize a culinary arts team for the 2012 Military Culinary Arts Competition. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Who has time to invest in a culinary team when we have to ready Soldiers for deployment?â&#x20AC;? might have been one of the questions audaciously shot back at them in response.

The prospect of organizing and winning support for a team was daunting, said Chief Warrant Officer 4 William Liggon, the division food adviser who was instrumental in the process. â&#x20AC;&#x153;The number one issue was how we were going to get funding,â&#x20AC;? he said. A team of 12 in the culinary competition requires food and lodging support as well as food needed for training and the competitive events. There are also incidental costs.

Liggon and division food service Sgt. Maj. David Turcotte and others made it their business to secure the needed funds. They lobbied, worked the phones and later employed the age-old food service tactic of capturing hearts and minds via the taste buds. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We put on a (food) demonstration,â&#x20AC;? said Liggon, â&#x20AC;&#x153;and invited the leadership to come out.â&#x20AC;?

The brass was treated to culinary delights, met the Soldiers behind those delights and received a primer on food service in general. â&#x20AC;&#x153;From that point, they supported us 100 percent,â&#x20AC;? said Liggon.

Command support is essential to fielding a competitive culinary team, but itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s not the only factor. Training, caliber of personnel and experience count as well. Fort Stewart was spotty in at least two of them. No team member but Turcotte had ever attended the MCAC and only a few had any culinary experience beyond that of the dining facility.

On top of that, Fort Stewart hadnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t entered the MCAC in five years, meaning that a body of institutional knowledge was either absent or seriously eroded. Turcotte, who has been assigned to Stewart for about 18 months, did see promise in something else. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Fort Stewart has a great training program for Soldiers,â&#x20AC;? he said, noting that high training standards are an embedded component to readiness. â&#x20AC;&#x153;When you have that type of training, it makes it easy to train for culinary.â&#x20AC;?

The team got a four-month cushion to train up for the MCAC. Nevertheless, there were doubts the team could perform to levels required in the competition, said Spc. Jacqueline Canidy, who earned the Junior PHOTO BY PATRICK BUFFETT Chef of the Year title at this yearâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s meet. â&#x20AC;&#x153;I thought we were not going to do so well because none of us had any experience,â&#x20AC;? she said after the awards ceremony, â&#x20AC;&#x153;but when the sergeant major started to train us, it began to come together.â&#x20AC;? ost of the team members, said Canidy, were not even aware of Turcotteâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s credentials until they arrived at Fort Lee. â&#x20AC;&#x153;He doesnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t brag about it,â&#x20AC;? she said, â&#x20AC;&#x153;but when we got here, everyone knew him and we finally put it together.â&#x20AC;?

They found out that he is a former member of the U.S. Army Culinary Arts Team and was the noncommissioned officer in charge of the advanced skills training division at the Joint Culinary Center

a of Excellence prior to his Stewart assignment. e Turcotte put the breadth of his experience and expertise on full displayy at the onset of the competition. He entered e himself in one of the first events â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Armed Forces Chef of the Year â&#x20AC;&#x201C; captuuring a silver medal and was later announ nced as the title winner. That set the tone, and by the time the first week of the comppetition drew to a close, Stewart had capturred two gold medals, was among the top co ontenders and had forged a reputation amoong the event administrators. â&#x20AC;&#x153;A lot of people said they always knew when somebody from Stewart waas competing,â&#x20AC;? said Turcotte, â&#x20AC;&#x153;because of the way they prepared andd organized before the event.â&#x20AC;?

In the second week of competittion, the Stewart team was riding a wave of momentum. They addedd gold medals for the Junior Chef of the Year and Student Team. A medal m count board that hung on the

wall of one of the competition venues, the Post Field House, indicated at least a commanding lead in gold medals. That might have been a bit misleading, however. There was no clear way to determine who was winning since each medal is awarded on the basis of a range of points.

That made for a high level of anticipation and drama on Friday, the day of the awards ceremony. The buzz around the Lee Theater had Fort Stewart as the leader, with Fort Hood (Texas) and the defending champion, the Pentagon Team, rounding out the top three. As it turned out, Stewart topped its competitors, the Pentagon finished second and a muchimproved Hood team finished third. The announcement generated joy and elation among the Stewart faithful.

â&#x20AC;&#x153;I was really excited,â&#x20AC;? said Canidy. â&#x20AC;&#x153;I actually wanted to jump around.â&#x20AC;?

Only three points separated first and second, prompting Turcotte to surmise that it was closer than many thought but all the more worthy of celebration and a sense of accomplishment. â&#x20AC;&#x153;I was quite proud of our Soldiers,â&#x20AC;? he said, â&#x20AC;&#x153;because they worked so hard. These kids handled the pressure really well, and they came down here and kicked butt. â&#x20AC;&#x153; PHOTOS BY T. ANTHONY BELL Canidy assessed that whether her team won or lost, the culinary experience â&#x20AC;&#x201C; the four months of training and the two weeks of competition â&#x20AC;&#x201C; was something every food service specialist should experience. â&#x20AC;&#x153;It was beneficial,â&#x20AC;? she said. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Just seeing the other side of food service made the DFAC seem easy. I feel like I am more motivated and that I have more knowledge and experience. Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m definitely thinking about coming back next year.â&#x20AC;? urcotte said the process of working closely with Soldiers away from the schoolhouse has reaffirmed his love for Soldiering. He has bounced around the idea of retiring but says he wants to stick around for the time being. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We have a deployment to Afghanistan later this year,â&#x20AC;? he said, â&#x20AC;&#x153;but Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m having a lot of fun down there at Stewart.

Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve probably learned more about putting a team together there than I have anywhere.â&#x20AC;?

There is no word whether Fort Stewart plans to enter a team next year, but this yearâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s win canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t hurt. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Hopefully, we can continue what we did this year and every year,â&#x20AC;? said team member Master Sgt. Verna Bellamy.

Spring brings rain and a greater ater potential for flooding. Each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than from any ny other thunderstorm-related hazard. Why? Because most people underesti-mate the force and power of water, specifically under flash flood conditions.

Although the risk of flooding on Fort Lee is negligible, in there are several locations within the Central Virginia area thatt are susceptible to flooding. The purpose rpose of this message is to build flood safety fety awareness for personnel who live or travel through the area.

According to the National Weather ather Service, nearly half of all flash flood fatalities are vehicle-related, often because of the mistaken view that vehicles are

too heavy to float. IIt is never safe to drive through high wat water, no matter what size your vehicle is.

Just six inches of fast-moving wat can knock you off flood water your feet, fe and it doesnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t take muc more than that to much ccarry away your vehicle. In heavy rains, flash flood waters move at 6 to 12 miles per hour, and it only takes a few inches of wa water for a vehicle to become buoyant. Once that happens, the waterâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s force can push it sideways sideways, even while the wheels remain in con contact with the pavement.

ŻYouth High Roller Bobby Holleman Jr. set a new three-game series record for youth bowlers at the Fort Lee Bowling Center on Feb. 25.

He scored 256, 279 and 258 for a 793 set, the highest in the Appomattox River U.S. Bowling Congress among youth bowlers since the merger two years ago. Locked in from the start, Holleman had one open frame the entire session. A review of national scores that week showed he had the second highest set among youth bowlers across the nation.

Hoops SharpshooterŹ Chris Becker was lights out in the Third Annual ThreePoint Shootout. The competition was a two-round format with the top three shooters advancing to the second (final) round. In the first round each contestant was allotted 45 seconds to finish three racks of five balls. Four regular balls and one money ball which counted as two points. In the second round they were given 30 seconds to finish the same amount of racks.

Thirteen contestants entered the three point shoot -out and Becker out-shot them all. In the first round he tied for the high score of 8 with Jessie Worrell. There was a two-way tie for third place so four contestants advanced into the final round. As the second shooter in the second round, Becker’s 5 held up to edge out Bryan Trammell with 4.

“Rest assured, you will not pay for the services you receive at Kenner. Your insurance company is obligated to pay for the costs of your care,” said Estela Bryan, a claims examiner. You cannot be billed for any copayments, or charges your insurance does not cover. In fact, these amounts may be applied to the annual deductible, lowering your out of pocket costs when visiting civilian providers.

KAHC needs patients to complete a “Third Party Collection Program/Medical Services Account/Other Health Insurance” form (DD Form 2569). For beneficiaries of active duty members or retirees, this form must be updated annually. This is done regardless of your insurance status, i.e.: insurance has changed, if you have no other health insurance or your insurance has stayed the same. Once the form is completed, you will be given a new yellow card. The card expires a year from the date of completion. Present this card with your military identification at every visit to every clinic including pharmacy, lab and radiology. As long as the card is current, you will not need to fill out the DD 2569 your visit.

What does Kenner do with the monies that are recovered through the Third Party Collection Program? “They stay here at Kenner, increasing funds for more medical support staff, purchasing medications and upgrading to

more state of the art equipment,” said Capt. Van Tull, chief, Patient Administration. The ultimate goal of the Third Party Collections Program is to enhance the services Kenner provides.

“Keep in mind, you may receive in the mail an information paper on the Other Health Insurance / Third Party Collection Program and a DD 2569. This will make getting the information updated easier because you can complete the form and return to Kenner at your next visit,” said Glory Wilson, a claims examiner.

Remember, the collection of the other health insurance information is a DoD requirement, and there are penalties for individuals who fail to comply or provide false information.
