Capodanno Guild - Cause Update Dec 2017

December 2017 Friends: As we enter the Advent Season, and consider how blessed we are for the support that you provide to the Cause for Canonization of Father Vincent Capodanno, we want to provide an update on the process – you are part of our team and we need you for success. The findings of the Archdiocesan Phase are under review by the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in Rome. We are hopeful that an expeditious completion of this phase will occur with a determination that Father Vincent’s life is “venerable.” This will set the stage for the next phase when we submit miracles for review and with God’s grace, achieve a designation of “Blessed.” We are excited as the process continues to move forward on all fronts. The new documentary celebrating Father Capodanno's life and actions, Called and Chosen, the Life of Father Vincent R. Capodanno, has been extremely well received and has garnered strong reviews. Following its initial airing on EWTN in late August, demand for the DVDs has been exceptional. To date, we have distributed almost 1,000 copies of the documentary ‐ each for a donation of $20. These donations are helping to offset the significant costs we incurred in production and the ongoing effort to pursue our Cause but, they are not sufficient. Further donations are required to keep us moving forward. Copies of the DVD are still available. Visit http://www.capodannoguild.org to donate and request your own copy. Only with your continued, personal and prayerful support for Father’s Cause can we hope for success. Additionally, the success of our DVD has resulted in approximately 700 new Guild members (an increase of 30%), bringing the total to almost 2,100 committed partners in support of Father Capodanno's Canonization. Recently, we were contacted by a Navy Chaplain stationed on the USS MOUNT WHITNEY (LCC‐20), home‐ported in Gaeta, Italy. MOUNT WHITNEY is the flagship of the U.S. Sixth Fleet and would like to honor Father Capodanno, and his family ties to Gaeta, by naming the ship's chapel in his honor. We are extremely appreciative of this distinction and will be sending them copies of the documentary DVD, prayer cards, and a letter of thanks. MOUNT WHITNEY plans a small naming ceremony in early December. Lastly, the new exposure of Father Capodanno and the Cause has created a surge in requests for presentations about his virtuous life and heroic death. The Guild has developed presentation materials and is in the process of interviewing volunteers to deliver these presentations and further disseminate Father Capodanno’s life story. Selections will occur soon, allowing presentations throughout the United States early in the new year. As 2017 comes to an end, we thank God for His many blessings including the significant progress in the Cause for Canonization. Thank you for all you do to further this worthy project. May you and your family have a joyous and holy Christmas, may the Christ Child continue to bless you and may Father Vincent intercede for you in the New Year.
