Welcome to the MIL-D-CON 2023 Guide detailing all this year’s attractions! Peruse the pages to find out what’s on, who’s on and at what time! This year we’ve got five fantastic guests from Hollywood: Anthony Daniels – C3PO from Star Wars, Paul Adelstein – Prison Break, Raymond Cruz – The Closer, Tiya Sircar – The Good Place, and Darby Stanchfield – Scandal. The Guide also features a specially commissioned comic strip, the Battle of Square D, by 100 FSS Marketing’s Bruce Richardson. The story’s based on two mysterious events at the Tri-Base area from the Cold War era. Sourced from a CIA report, The Lakenheath England Radar-Visual UFO Case, August 13-14, 1956, and local history lore (spiced with plenty of poetic licence), Mr Richardson brings the story up to date! A
nthony Daniels, the
renowned actor famous for his portrayal of the beloved 3-CPO in the Star Wars franchise, holds the unique distinction of appearing in all eleven films of the series. Beyond the main films, he has also contributed to various spin-offs and related endeavors. Daniels’ involvement with the Star Wars universe extends beyond the big screen. He participated in radio dramatizations of the original trilogy, made an appearance on The Muppet Show, supported vaccine promotion efforts, created antismoking commercials, took part in Oscar ceremonies, befriended Big Bird on Sesame Street, became part of Disney’s Star Tours ride as the pilot, and even became a Kellogg’s breakfast cereal. He also had his own animated series called Droids, and lent his voice to other animated series like The Clone Wars, LEGO: The Yoda Chronicles, Droid Tales, and Rebels. Additionally, he provided voiceovers for GPS devices like WAZE and TomTom. Daniels’ journey into acting began with three years of college training, where he gained valuable skills in mime and radio performance. These skills would prove essential in his future career. After leaving college in 1974, Daniels received a BBC Radio
Award, leading to a spot in their Drama Company. Following numerous productions, he transitioned to theater and joined the National Theatre of Great Britain at The Young Vic. It was during his performance in Tom Stoppard’s “Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead” that he received the life-changing opportunity to meet George Lucas regarding a sci-fi movie. Although initially uninterested in sci-fi, Daniels’ agent ensured he met Lucas. A concept painting of the character C-3PO by Ralph McQuarrie and the script piqued his interest, and he accepted the role. This decision led to the creation of the iconic character, with Daniels undergoing the process of creating a mold of his body for the costume. Filming in the C-3PO costume presented challenges. The suit’s seventeen pieces didn’t fit well, weather conditions ranged from cold desert scenes to sweltering studio days, and R2-D2’s lack of speech required Daniels to talk to himself on set. Lucas later sought to replace Daniels’ on-set voice with an American one, but ultimately retained Daniels’ original performance. Daniels continued his role as C-3PO in subsequent Star Wars films, making adjustments
to the suit and even providing puppetry for “Attack Of The Clones.” He featured as C-3PO in “The Revenge of the Sith,” “The Force Awakens” (with a red arm), “Rogue One,” and “The Last Jedi.” In “The Rise of Skywalker,” he portrayed C-3PO and briefly voiced Tak in “Solo.” Daniels shared his experiences in the original Star Wars Insider magazine’s “New Improved Wonder Column,” authored a comic book titled “The Protocol Offensive” for Dark Horse, and collaborated with Hasbro Interactive on Star Wars Monopoly. In 2019, he published his memoir, “I AM C-3PO – The Inside Story,” detailing his film experiences. While the Star Wars saga played a significant role in Anthony Daniels’ career, he also engaged in various television and stage projects, spanning from sitcoms like “Square Deal” and “Three Up Two Down” to more serious dramas like “Prime Suspect” and “Dangerous Corner” by Priestley. Furthermore, Daniels serves as a visiting tutor at Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center and holds a prestigious Blue Peter Gold Badge. He divides his time between England and the south of France.

GALAXY CLUB BALLROOM Raymond Cruz
Best-known for his portrayal of the frighteningly lethal‘Tuco Salamanca’ in AMC’s critically acclaimed show Breaking Bad, a character he later reprised for the first two episodes of the spin-off Better Call Saul. The role garnered him a ‘Best Performance in a Television Series’ nomination from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. Cruz recently wrapped his sixth and final season of TNT’s Major Crimes as ‘Julio Sanchez,’ a detective within the Los Angeles Police Department’s Major Crimes Division, a role which originated on TNT’s The Closer and which offered Cruz a nomination of ‘Best Supporting Actor’ from the Imagen Foundation Awards. Other TV work includes Cleveland Abduction, the TV Movie in which he starred as kidnapper ‘Ariel Castro,’ a role he felt personally connected to having known the victims of his crime personally. Other TV work includes CSI: Miami, Lauren, White Collar, and Los Americans, among others. Cruz has appeared in numerous films including the highly touted Collateral Damage, Training Day, and Alien: Resurrection.
Tiya Sircar
Sircar was featured in the 20th Century Fox comedy The Internship opposite Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, Sircar appeared on the NBC hit comedy “The Good Place,” which Entertainment Weekly recently dubbed her the series ‘Scene Stealer.” She appeared on the comedy opposite Kristen Bell and Ted Danson. Sircar had guest roles on such series as Netflix’s “Master of None” and Fox’s “The Mindy Project,” Sircar has also exercised her comedic and dramatic chops on “The Witches of East End,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Crazy Ones,” “Hannah Montana” and “The Suite Life on Deck.” Sircar is a capable voiceover actress, as Sabine Wren, a graffiti artist and explosives expert, on the Disney/Lucas Film animated series “Star Wars Rebels” on the Disney Channel and the short-form interstitial series “Star Wars: Forces of Destiny” .
Paul Adelstein
Adelstein broke out for his role as Agent Paul Kellermanin Prison Break. He was a fan-favorite as Cooper Freedman in ABC’s Private Practice. He has appeared in numerous other television shows and films such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Grey’s Anatomy, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Darby Stanchfield
Stanchfield has played many recognizable roles throughout her career such as Abby Whelan in Scandal, April Green in Jericho, and Helen Bishop in Mad Men. She currently plays Nina Locke in Netflix’s Locke & Key.

Andrew Cartmel “Doctor Who” script editor Andrew Cartmel is a novelist and playwright. He is the author of the bestselling Vinyl Detective series, and creator of the Paperback Sleuth. He began his career with a legendary stint as script editor on Doctor Who (the “Cartmel Masterplan”) and has written a memoir of his time on the show, Script Doctor.

Andrew has toured as a stand-up comedian and had his plays performed on the London Fringe including Glacier Lake and As Real as Anything.
