Bible Studies with Cathedral Clergy Men’s Bible Study with Dean Richard beginning Wednesday, September 8 then continuing on the first Wednesday of each month 5:30 pm in the cathedral library The group will focus on Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians this fall. Catechumenate The Catechumenate is a community of learning, conversation, and fellowship in a gathering as old as Christianity itself. It is the journey to baptism, confirmation, reception into the Episcopal Church, or the reaffirmation of baptismal vows.

Participation in the Catechumenate is also a wonderful way to learn more about Saint John’s as a cathedral and a community and to prepare for membership in the church.

Classes will meet on Sundays from 1 to 2 pm. Due to the shortened nature of each class, please only register if you can be present at all four sessions with the clergy. The Everding Lecture Sunday, October 10 at 2 pm & Wednesday, October 13 at 5:30 pm Dr. Kwok Pui Lan is the Dean’s Professor of Systematic Theology at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. In this two-part series, she will focus on postcolonial theology to help us rethink colonialism’s impact on theology and practices of the Church.

Sacred Ground: Anti-Racism Dialogue Circles Sacred Ground is a film and literature based dialogue series on race, grounded in faith.

Participants are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race and racism, while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity. Sacred Ground is not dogmatic or partisan – it is an opportunity to explore our own place and understanding of race and racism in an open and safe community. Education for Ministry (EfM) EfM is a mentored, four-year program of study and small group participation that meets weekly and invites participants to deepen their understanding of the church’s rich history and to empower a life of individual and community discipleship. Bible study and theological reflection, as well as history and theology, are all included in the course of the program.
