Cosmetics Europe has been the voice of the cosmetics and personal care industry in Europe for more than 60 years. We work closely with policy makers to ensure that regulation is appropriate and effective. We have an unrivalled knowledge of regulatory processes and how they impact our industry. The associations and companies that make up our members play a key role in shaping the regulatory and policy landscape that our industry operates in. JOHN CHAVE DIRECTOR GENERAL
Our added value Cosmetics Europe brings together the full range of expertise needed to represent and support a highly innovative, science-based and consumerfacing industry at European level. Our work spans public affairs, technical regulation, international affairs, communications, science, sustainability and ingredients defence, enabling the association to address complex policy and regulatory challenges from a truly cross-functional perspective. While we continuously advocate for proportionate, science-based and effective regulation that supports both consumer protection and industry competitiveness, our work is also reflected in a number of special initiatives and projects. These include the Leadership Forum, which strengthens dialogue between industry leaders and EU decision-makers; the Cosmetics Europe Annual Conference, which brings together stakeholders from across Europe and beyond; Commit for Our Planet initiative, which supports the industry’s sustainability journey; and COSMILE Europe database and app, which provide consumers with accessible, science-based information on cosmetic ingredients. Together, these efforts demonstrate Cosmetics Europe’s role as a trusted platform for advocacy, expertise, collaboration and transparency across the European cosmetics and personal care sector.
Our mission is to shape a European operating environment that is conducive to long-term growth of the industry and a sustainable future.
Our key priority is to ensure that consumers have access to safe, innovative and sustainable cosmetics and personal care products, while maximising the potential of our industry for innovation and growth.

FCIO is part of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and represents in total around 230 companies producing chemical substances or related chemical products. Apart for substances manufacturers, producers of pharmaceuticals, plastic products, fertilizers, plant protection products, paints, adhesives, detergents, cosmetics and a few other chemical related products are direct members of FCIO. As a social partner established by law, FCIO is also the employer organisation negotiating collective agreements. In the cosmetic sector unfortunately only 3 SME companies are direct FCIO member companies. However, since some of the multinational companies had a production in Austria in the past, they are still part of FCIO as associate members and support FCIO’s engagement in this sector. CHRISTIAN GRÜNDLING DEPUTY DIRECTOR
Our added value The fact that the cosmetic industry representation in Austria is embedded in a wider chemical industry network covering all different types of substance manufacturers and down stream users makes FCIO unique, even more under the umbrella of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber with a worldwide representation. As FCIO we try to promote the importance of all different type of chemical products and the innovation capability for a brighter and more sustainable future. This is reflected also in our advertising activities (see: Erlebe das Wunder der Chemie). Additionally we try to promote the interest of young people for chemistry. Together with a TV station we developed the quiz-show “C.I. – Chemical Intelligence”. Cosmetic member companies organize their common activities under the umbrella of “Kosmetik transparent”.
Our vision “We, the member companies and employees of FCIO, are united in our commitment for Austria as an attractive and sustainable hub for the chemical industry. We advocate for a research- and innovation-friendly environment where the chemical industry can leverage its innovative capabilities to provide solutions to society’s most pressing challenges.”

We are the Belgian and Luxembourg association for producers and distributors of cosmetics, cleaning and maintenance products, adhesives, sealants, biocides and aerosols. Detic strives to ensure that its members can fully realize their potential in the new Sustainable Development model for society and its respective objectives. As a result of its diverse membership, the sectors that Detic represents are cross-fertilizing each other in the members quest to improve their processes in their respective sector. As an example, the Cosmetics sector benefited in return when the Detergents sector was inspired by Detic's Advertising Code for the cosmetics sector. A kind of a virtuous circle is engaged, whilst keeping each sector specificities in the focus.
FRANÇOISE VAN TIGGELEN SECRETARY GENERAL
Our added value Detic has also developed a broad and long-lasting network with stakeholders, building ad hoc alliances whenever it made sense. For instance, Detic, together with the Food and Beverage sector and the Retailers, is a founding member of Fost Plus and Valorlux, which enabled to achieve noticeable results in the recycling of packaging. Even though Detic is a relatively small organization, these alliances with larger organizations / stakeholders allow Detic to achieve much more and thus to fight above its weight class.
Beauty Identity Rather than a single massive global symbol, the sector in Belgium and Luxembourg leans on several gems illustrating the general sustainability aim as well as forward looking innovation. Belgium hosts 2 model plants from 2 world market leaders, Estée Lauder and L’Oréal. Luxembourg facilitated the emergence of a company specializing in probiotics, besides Belgium sees projects for alternative sourcing (mainly plant-based) springing up like mushrooms. As an example, plant waste from hop and chicory cultivation, Belgian iconic crops, is being investigated as a source of future ingredients. ICONIC BEAUTY ELEMENTS

Beauty identity For the Czech Republic, the most iconic beauty elements are closely tied to its natural resources and spa heritage rather than a single ingredient. The Czech Republic is internationally known for its historic spa culture. Mineral-rich thermal waters from Karlovy Vary have long been used in skincare and wellness treatments, making this the country's strongest cosmetic symbol. The Czech cosmetics industry is strongly influenced by the country's rich beer culture and tradition of natural skincare. Ingredients such as hops, brewer's yeast, and malt are widely used in skincare products for their nourishing and soothing properties and are also at the heart of the famous beer spa experience. During this unique wellness tradition, visitors bathe in warm beer infused with hops and brewer's yeast, symbolizing Czech beauty, relaxation, and wellbeing. In addition, botanical ingredients play an important role in Czech natural cosmetics. Herbs such as calendula, chamomile, lavender, and other Central European plants are commonly used for their calming benefits, reflecting the country's emphasis on natural, traditional skincare.

It connects and represents members, monitors regulatory and sustainability developments, supports companies in implementing legislation, coordinates common positions and communicates them to Slovenian and EU decisionmakers. Our vision A connected, informed and competitive Slovenian cosmetics sector that innovates responsibly, meets high safety and sustainability standards, and helps shape proportionate, workable regulation. - DARJA BOŠTJANČIČ DIRECTOR
Oud added value With a population of around 2 million, Slovenia has a relatively small cosmetics market and limited manufacturing base. This constrains KPČ’s resources and its ability to maintain a broad range of activities and effective advocacy. Despite these challenges, KPČ is recognised by Slovenian authorities as the representative association of the cosmetics industry. Continued engagement and cooperation with Cosmetics Europe are essential to maintaining this role and ensuring access to relevant industry information and support. A key area requiring strong engagement is the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive (UWWTD). KPČ closely monitors developments through the Cosmetics Europe Steering Group, shares relevant information and industry perspectives nationally, and brings together key stakeholders to support coordinated and workable implementation in Slovenia.
Beauty Identity Slovenian cosmetics producers follow European trends through their products while building on local strengths. They are particularly strong in skin- and hair- care, especially hair colourants, which are both developed and manufactured in Slovenia. Smaller companies often highlight the use of natural ingredients and/or the local origin of their products. The sector also includes private-label production.
