The parades double attendance
Mijas decided to bring forward the Three Wise Men parades by one day due to the rain forecast for the 5th of January and it was a wise choice. The Town Hall has valued the “excellent reception of the public” in the three parades on the 4th of January. In fact, the number of people in attendance doubled that of 2024, especially in Las Lagunas, according to estimates by the Local Police, which the government team echoed in its assessment. visit the municipality surrounded by Mijeños
The Mijas Town Hall values the “excellent reception of the public” in the three parades on the 4th of January
Mijas decided to bring forward the Three Wise Men’s parades by one day due to the rain forecast for the 5th of January and it was a wise decision. The mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), thanked on the afternoon of the 4th the involvement of all the people who made possible the smooth running of these parades: “It has been a joint effort, Police, cleaning workers, those responsible for signposting, Operational Services... We have also been in contact with other municipalities to see how we could celebrate these parades given the risk of rainfall. In short, it has been a very complicated task, but it is true that the Three Wise Men have lived up to what they are, kings”.
In fact, the number of visitors doubled that of the previous year, as stated on Tuesday 7th by the councillor for Festivities and Traditions, Silvia Marín (PP), according to estimates by the Local Police. There was a greater presence of people from other neighbouring municipalities such as Fuengirola, who-
se parade was held the following day, and who took advantage of the Saturday afternoon to come to our municipality, especially to Las Lagunas, where the number of people exceeded all expectations”. Bringing the parades forward to the 4th of January was no easy task, stressed the councillor, as in a matter of hours it was necessary to mobilise the more than 300 people taking part in the three parades, “without forgetting the extensive security presence we had in each parade, with four people on each float in charge of ensuring everyone’s safety, a figure that increased to six in the case of the floats in Las Lagunas. To all this, added Marín, “we had to add the permits that had to be requested urgently from Traffic in order to be able to carry out the routes”.
Successful attendance
The final result was a large presence of neighbours and visitors willing to collect some of the 8,000 kilos of gluten-free sweets, 5,000 bags of ‘gusanitos’ (corn snaks) and 2,000 toys, among other things,

that were thrown in the parades.
Las Lagunas received their majesties at the branch office. From there a fire engine took them to the water park, where 10 floats with 160 children, a large public and the mayoress, who thanked them for their effort to visit Mijas the day before, were waiting for them.
The Las Lagunas Musical Group led the parade followed by the floats Estrella de la Ilusión, Hulk, Dragonball, Niña del Carbón, Trolls, passacaglia Rey León and Estrella Pequeña, as well as those of Melch’or, Gaspar and Balthazar. The ‘charangas’ Mena, Expiración and Danza Africana enlivened the route, which ended in Avenida Miguel Hernández. Neighbourhood associations such as María Zambrano, Las Cañadas, Tamisa, Doña Ermita and El Juncal, and groups such as Cine Mijas, Mibu and Hermandad Jesús Vivo collaborated.
In Mijas Pueblo their Majesties arrived, as a novelty, in horsedrawn carriages at the Town Hall. The three royal floats were accompanied by the Charanga Los Salchipapas, as well as the groups Mundo Psicodélico and Danza Africana.
According to
the Local Police, the parades doubled last year’s attendance figures
Before finishing in the Plaza Virgen de la Peña, the kings visited a living nativity scene in the Casa Museo and gave presents to the Baby Jesus. The brotherhoods of Dulce Nombre de Jesús Nazareno and Cristo de La Paz and the Grupo Joven Virgen de La Peña collaborated in this parade. “We are very happy with the way the parade has
Wishes to all
The mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), welcomed the Three Wise Men, thanked them for the effort to visit the municipality a day earlier and asked them to be good to the children of the municipality. The mayoress also asked for health, peace and happiness for all Mijeños in 2025.

been received. People have enjoyed it”, said Mari Francis Alarcón (PP), councillor of the government team.
In La Cala the novelty was the change of direction in the route of their majesties, who left the Butibamba park to reach the boulevard in a parade consisting of four floats, that of the guiding star and the Three Wise Men. A ‘charanga’, a ‘batucada’ and a music and dance group from the Malaga cultural association of Senegalese immigrants enlivened the route. Collaborating in the organisation of the floats were the CDF Torreón de La Cala, the association of Jóvenes Caleños, the AV Puerto Los Gatos and Calle Torremolinos.
The three parades were animated by children’s characters and concluded with the Three Wise Men welcoming the children and handing out ‘roscón de reyes’ and chocolate to those present.

Social Inclusion facilitates care with new ‘FIRST RECEPTION’ SERVICE
This service reinforces the information, assessment, guidance and advice provided to users who come to the area for the first time
Ed. Dep. / C.M. / Translation: C. Arroyo
Optimising the social care offered by the Mijas Town Hall is a “priority” for the government team. For this reason, the area of Social Inclusion has launched the ‘first reception’ service with the aim of gaining efficiency in terms of the care provided to users.
The new service, as explained on Thursday 9th by the councillor for the department, Melisa Ceballos (PP), serves to reinforce information, as-
sessment, guidance and advice and aims to provide reception for people who go to the Social Services for the first time. In fact, it aims to facilitate the processing of benefits or social urgency/emergency services, dependency, home help service, care for families and minors, etc., allowing many issues to be resolved in a first visit without the need for another appointment.

Diagnosis
The first reception service establishes that a social worker carries out an assessment that allows a diagnosis to be made regarding the level of comple-
xity and the type of demand. In this way, those that are resolved without the need for social intervention in the medium or long term are sifted out, identifying those that need to be referred to the following levels of care.
gets second place in Europe in
The Dak Burger restaurant in La Cala wins the second European prize in The Champions Burger competition. In less than four years, its owner and creator, Domi Domínguez, has won a number of awards and recognitions and together with his team he is going all out for 2025. Last year was a year of expansion for Dak Burger. They opened a new establishment in Malaga under the ‘smash’ concept and without table service, everything to take away and delivery; and their foodtruck has travelled hundreds of kilometres to attend different competitions and contests. All good work is always rewarded.
According to Domíguez, “this year we have been in this competition, which is a qualifier, and during 2024 hundreds of burger businesses have taken part. Making it to the Spanish final, finishing third, qualifying for the European final and, finally, moving up a position and finishing second was great. The truth is that it is quite a big success for the whole team. We’ve been working all year and we’re very happy because in the end it all pays off”.

The Bridges Bar helps the La Cala Lions Club and the Three Wise Men.-
The Bridges Bar in Riviera del Sol held a charity raffle which raised, according to owner Liz Doody, 700 euros which was donated to the La Cala Lions Club, who help those in need throughout the area. The Dak Burger team, only four years old, is already made up of 50 people who want to conquer the world of competitions and who seek innovation and quality in each of their proposals. That is how Stellar was born, its latest creation, which has competed in the European final of The Champions Burger, getting second place, and first place nationally in the smash burgers version.
According to Domínguez, “it’s a burger that has roasted garlic mayonnaise with crispy onion, 180 grams of matured Galician beef, matured cheddar and, bacon jam. We finish with a creation of our own, moon dust, which is a smoked icing sugar that we put on top, which gives the burger a sweet touch”. Delicious!
