The life-enhancing, sociable and diverse One World Choir of Sheffield bring together asylum seekers and refugees with others living in Sheffield. The performances are joyful and vibrant as they sing songs in a variety of languages, many created by the choir’s members. Enjoy their spirit and energy!

Suntou Susso

Suntou Susso is a multi-instrumentalist: Kora player, percussionist, singer and composer from The Gambia.

Born a Griot in a 700-year old tradition, the Kora – harp-lute with 22 strings – is unique to the Griots of the Mandinka people.

Amir Darwish

Amir Darwish is a British Syrian poet & writer of Kurdish origin who lives in London. Born in Aleppo, he came to Britain as an asylum seeker in 2003. Amir’s work is moving, touching, thought-provoking but mainly humane.
