ONLY THE PEOPLE SAVE THE PEOPLE
“
Text and photography: Antonio Pozo
In Spain, the best is the people. It has always been the same. In their hard trances, the ‘señoritos’ invoke their country and sell it; the people don't even mention it, but they buy it with their blood and save it. — Antonio Machado

very year we say the same thing, but every year it’s the same thing: big-cartel for this year’s edition of DELESTE FEST. Friday the 22nd and Saturday the 23rd will shine on their unique stage Röyksopp, with a career marked by innovation, melodic sensitivity, and timeless elegance; they continue to be a fundamental reference point in European electronic music and a key name for understanding the intersection of dance music, experimental pop, and cinematic emotion. Apparat —Sascha Ring—, one of the most influential and respected artists in contemporary electronic music. Born in Germany and based in Berlin, his career has evolved from the minimalist rhythms of his early work to a sonic universe that combines electronica, ambient, experimentation, and a deeply emotional approach. The Canadians of Toronto Holy Fuck, making an electro -rock that live turn into an exatic, heterodox, improvisational and energetic experience. Billy Nomates creates music brimming with justified anger, cathartic humor and the honesty that comes from having nothing to lose. Unlike many of his distant and abstract contemporaries in the British post-punk scene, his refreshingly direct composition seems shaped by lived experience. Primal Scream's career has been a series of adventures that have seen the band recording era-defining albums like 1991's Screamadelica, digging deep into the past to excavate classic rock nuggets, and playing music that sounds like it was beamed in from the future. No matter which path they follow, their love of music and daredevil spirit never wane. The Londoners Kerala Dust have a wonderfully shifting sound; an eerie fusion where meaning arises from fragments, rather than something fixed or static.

udas Priest —named after the Bob Dylan song The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest— is one of the longest -running bands in the rock scene. From its beginnings in industrial Birmingham —alleged cradle of Heavy Metal— at the end of the sixties, at the dawn of the NWBHM, They have sown their long career of almost six decades with legendary albums, becoming one of the pillars of the heavymetalhead spectrum, as pioneers, moreover, of the diffuse speed metal movement, later trash and power metal. If you experience them live, you can appreciate the characteristics of that supersonic speed whose execution requires skills only available to great musicians and vocalists. On the other hand, if they have a singer like Halford, endowed with a powerful vocal range with operatic overtones, besides the enormous high notes, anyway, missing one of their gigs should be a crime. It's also not common to be able to enjoy devilish and electrifying twin guitars, one of the main characteristics of Judas Priest, developed from the impeccable technique of its guitarists, creating, together with Travis —impressive drummer— and Hill — omnipresent and omniscient bassit—, a hyperhypnotic, ecstatic, addictive wall of sound. All of this with a distinctly theatrical interpretive presence, without histrionic excesses that distort Halford's banshee wail or the rest of the stage resources. The anthems of the Metal Gods will run through the bowels of the Roig Arena in Valencia and through the interstices of the people on August 20th, during an evening that will also feature the Australians Airbone and their powerful physical rock, along with the legendary Udo Dirkschneider, vocalist of U.D.O., famous trashmetal band.
