DROP
On Saturday, May 9, the Mid-Willamette Family YMCA hosted the second annual Albany Community Carnival and Great Platypus Drop in partnership with the Albany Area Habitat for Humanity. The event welcomed approximately 2 700 community members
Guests enjoyed 22 inflatables including obstacle courses, slides, and a toddler zone along with 26 carnival games, live magic shows, face painting and balloon animals, a petting zoo, and several other animal visitors, like Ruby the Capybara and Caesar the No Drama Llama.
The day concluded with the Great Platypus Drop, a raffle with over 55 prizes, including a trip to Disneyland for four. The Albany Fire Department lifted numbered rubber platypuses high above the field before dropping them onto a target below. In total, more than 6,400 platypuses were dropped, making this year ’ s finale bigger than ever before.
Funds raised from the Albany Community Carnival & Great Platypus Drop support both the YMCA and the Albany Area Habitat for Humanity, helping provide safe housing opportunities and ensuring local youth can participate in sports and programs regardless of financial barriers.
This event would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, including our many game, station, and prize sponsors. We would like to give a special thanks to Republic Services, a longtime supporter of our YMCA, for serving as our presenting sponsor. Their contribution helped bring this event to life.
The Albany Community Carnival & Great Platypus Drop is now an annual tradition at our YMCA, and we look forward to welcoming the community back next May!

We are proud to be bringing 7v7 Adult Soccer to our YMCA! The league is 7 weeks; the top 4 teams advance to the semi-finals, and the winners will compete in a championship game on August 8th. Games are 40 minutes with 20-minute halves and will have referees.

LEARN TO SWIM WEEK

Give your child the gift of water confidence with FREE swim lessons at the Y from June 22-26. Our Learn to Swim Week is designed for children ages 3-12 who have little to no swimming experience. These lessons focus on teaching essential safety skills in a fun and supportive environment.
PLEASE NOTE: This program is for true beginner swimmers. Children who can swim more than 20 feet may be asked to leave to ensure our instructors can focus on those who need it most. Space is limited! Please register for only one spot per child.
