THE HAND PICKED STORY

HAND PICKED. BY US, FOR YOU. Here at Midwest Foods & Liquor we have over 100 years combined knowledge and experience in the wine industry. This knowledge translates into helping our customers with purchase and range decisions, wine lists, premiere wine programs, wines poured by the glass and more. Together, our team have developed “Hand Picked” - a list of carefully selected wines that have

been proven to create a memorable moment for your customers, and increase profit for your business. With over 60 designated wine regions in Australia alone, and over 2,000 wine producers,

we’ve made the selection process easier for you. We’ve selected not only wines that represent the best from our local region, but we’ve included leading labels from regions like New Zealand, known for some of the world’s best sauvignon blanc. In addition, through our bespoke education and appreciation wine sessions, we can help your team sell wine with confidence and maximise wine sales. Our marketing team can also work with you on developing digital and printed wine lists, table

cards, images for social media platforms and more, all part of the Midwest Foods & Liquor service. Should you have any questions or would like a sample of any of the wines listed in this program, please contact your Midwest Foods & Liquor representative. MWF&L Team

Pepperjack wines are predominately grown and made in the Barossa, a wine region notorious for world class Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Pepperjack winemaker, Richard Mattner is a born and bred local to the Barossa and he loves making the wines as much as much as he loves drinking them matched with a great steak. As he says..."Why would I need anything else?".

CHARDONNAY Visually the wine is engaging, nice green hues with a touch of straw. It has wonderful aromatics of white flower, white peach, zesty lime with a light sprinkle of oak spice. On the palate the wine exalts with white peach and limes, the mid palate layers with a grapefruit inspired mineral chalk texture and the finish is fresh with a cream layered softness. This all results in a wonderfully appealing wine, which is full enough to enjoy individually, but with the delicacy which makes it suitable with a juice roast chook.

WINDOWRIE - TASTING NOTES SHIRAZ The Mill 2018 Shiraz is a full bodied wine with exemplary plum and spice aroma. The palate is well balance with lovely fruit intensity, complimented by the judicious use of French oak. MERLOT

SAUVIGNON BLANC

CABERNET MERLOT

The 2019 Mill Merlot, builds from the last release. The wine has an intense purple colour with reddish hues. Aromatically the wine displays red plums, forest fruits, and complimented with oak derived dark spices. On the palate the wines enters smoothly, with rich red fruits followed by a really nice silky mid palate mouth feel. The finish of the wine is contributed by well integrated oak, providing a finely structured finish. This wine is best suited to lighter meats, my go to would be a family Sunday pork roast with red wine jus.

This year’s wine is a more ripe style of Sauvignon Blanc, but what sets it apart from previous releases, is its increased intensity of passionfruit and tropical notes with minimal grass aroma and flavours. These typical characters are complimented with a well intentioned mouth filling texture. Fresh acidity adds to the refreshing nature of this wine. This wine is a great accompaniment to light salads, fresh seafood and warm, sunny afternoons.
