Director's Note Welcome to your community theatre, and the final production of our 2023 membership season. We are honored that you have made Midland Community Theatre a part of your holiday season, and sincerely appreciate your support of The Sound of Music. Our staff and volunteers have worked very hard on this wonderful production, and we hope that you will enjoy the show.

Recently, MCT has announced our 2024 membership season, and we are very excited about the diversity of these productions. Our opening musical The Wizard of Oz has already been cast, and we look forward to all of these 2024 productions including next year's holiday musical White Christmas. Additional information about our 2024 season productions can be found in this program.

Please remember that memberships are a great way to show your support for the mission and educational offerings of Midland Community Theatre, so please consider supporting us and purchasing a membership for 2024.

Finally, next year is a time of transition at our theatre. You can already see that construction is underway for our new lobby and education spaces, and we are excited about these physical changes to the Cole Theatre. In addition, MCT will be hiring a new Artistic Director who will start next summer, and will direct two shows in our 2024 membership season - Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and White Christmas. Please have patience as we continue to guide and develop this organization for a strong future in our community. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to entertaining the Permian Basin for at least another 75 years.

Cast Rachel Harper| Maria

This is Rachael’s ninth performance at MCT. Some of her favorite roles have been in Newsies, Cinderella, and Pirates of Penzance at UTPB. This show role are incredibly meaningful to Rachel as it was one of the first musicals she was introduced to at a very young age. She is grateful to be performing with a community that she loves. Enjoy the show.

Todd Lagus| Captain

Growing up playing the violin and piano, Todd hadn’t done much musically in 20 years before joining the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church choir this year and participating in this show. Todd is a Twin City native who moved to Midland in 2022. Midland has been a great place for him and his family to find community and try new things.

Jonah Thacher| Rolf

Jonah is excited to be a part of his second MCT show in a row having most recently finished his role as Kam in The Girl on the Train. Jonah studied theatre at Texas State University and now teaches at St. Anne’s School when not serving as shop assistant at MCT. Wearing dinosaur shirts and combing his mustache are just a few of Jonah’s favorite things.

Avery Fedele| Liesl

Avery is excited to be making her MCT debut alongside so many talented actors and actresses. She is a senior at Andres High School and plans to pursue a degree in musical theatre after graduation.

Performing, HTeaO, and her little sister are just a few of Avery’s favorite things.

Celeste Troschinetz| Liesl

Celeste is excited to be onstage for the eleventh time at MCT. She is a Junior at Montessori Mastery School of Odessa. She is grateful for all the experience she has gained at the theatre and hopes you enjoy this production as much as she has. Listening to music and singing are a few of her favorite things.

Simon Phillips| Frederich

Simon is a sixth-grade homeschooled student and is grateful and excited for his debut on the Midland Community Theatre stage. In the summer of 2023, he participated in The River Fine Arts’ production of Peter Pan; he’s also a drama ministry team member at The River.

Simon has taken piano lessons for six years and played in numerous music contests and performances. A few of his favorite things are reading, swimming and golf as well as telling jokes.

Jameson Lane| Frederich

Jameson is a seventh grader at San Jacinto. You may have seen him in his MCT debut, Leader of the Pack or the Fall Pickwick production The Diary of Anne Frank. Jameson is very active in MCT’s Pickwick Players as well as his school’s theatre program. This is Jameson’s third musical.

Cast McKinley Evans| Louisa

McKinley is a writer, dancer, photographer, and musician. She has published a children’s book as well as a short story and has won the Midland Storytelling Competition ever year from 2018 to 2021.

McKinley is also very active in the Midland Festival Ballet having performed in The Nutcracker and Aladdin & the Magic Carpet.

Seraphina Zamora| Louisa

Seraphina is an eighth grade homeschool student and is excited to be making her MCT debut. A few of her favorite things include reading, writing, and traveling. She hopes you all enjoy the show.

Kenley Green| Brigitta Kenley is a seventh grade homeschool student who is thrilled to be returning to the MCT stage. You may remember seeing Kenley in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Christmas Carol. Kenley wants to thank her family for all of their support. Pickwicks, playing guitar, and reading are a few of her favorite things.

Hannah Lancto| Brigitta

Hannah is a spunky thirteen year old, who was last seen in Leader of the Pack and is excited to be back for her second show at MCT. Hannah recently received the honor of being named a National Youth Storyteller and recently published a children’s book. God, candy corn, and football are a few of her favorite things.

Cooper Green| Kurt

Cooper is a ten year old homeschool student who most recently performed as Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol. Cooper is very excited to be back onstage at MCT. Lego, Scouts, Harry Potter, and theatre are a few of his favorite things.

Ryan Stennis| Kurt

Ryan is excited to be returning to the MCT stage as it is his favorite place to be. You may have seen him most recently as Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Legos, video games,, and playing soccer and video games with his friends are a few of his favorite things. He hopes you enjoy the show!

Mary Evelyn Lagus| Marta

Mary Evelyn is quite excited to be turning ten soon after opening night. A few of her favorite things include reading, writing, singing, playing piano, and exploring nature. Her biggest blessings in life are her beloved friends, her teachers, her cats, Uno, Mary, and Yoshi, and her family. Her unwavering love and compassion, her inquisitive spirit, and her grit, are what make her a delight to know and to love.

Cast Lucia Lopez| Marta

Lucia is a fourth grader at Carver Center and is excited to be making her MCT debut. From Venezuela, Lucia enjoys playing piano and violin as well as singing and acting. Her favorite movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas and her favorite book is Sunny Side Up. Yoga, acting, and singing are a few of Lucia’s favorite things!

Lynlee Disckson| Gretl

Lynlee is excited to be making her MCT stage debut though she has participated in MCT’s classes before. Lynlee also enjoys singing, playing outside, mixing her own slime, and making all kinds of art in her home art studio. Lynlee plans to become a singer, zoo keeper, and a costume designer. The ocean, and her two dogs are a few of her favorite things.

Atley Allen| Gretl

Though Atley is making her MCT debut, she is no stranger to the stage.

Atley has enjoyed performing Wizard of Oz as a munchkin and Little Anastasia in Anastasia at Texas Leadership Charter Academy. Reading, trail mix, and spending time with her little sister are a few of Atley’s favorite things.

Carrie Kirkpatrick| Elsa

Carrie was last seen on the MCT stage as Mrs. Bucket in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She also won a Hammie Award for Outstanding Debut as Mayzie La Bird in Seussical: The Musical. Her favorite role was as a Walt Disney World Cast Member in 2012 and 2015. Zip lining and kayaking are a few of her favorite things.

Victor Parra| Max

Victor is a teacher at MISD and a graduate of WTAMU. He has been a part of MCT for just over a year and has had the pleasure of participating in two shows at MCT: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Outside of teaching and the theater, Victor enjoys loving on his two dogs, singing at church, cooking, and playing video games.

Charlotte Larson| Frau Schmidt

Charlotte is a legal secretary at Kelly Hart & Hallman and is excited to be back on the MCT stage for the first time since 2017. Charlotte has enjoyed acting and volunteering with the theatre since 1975. Hiking, camping, her cats, and her husband are a few of her favorite things.

Matt Scott| Franz Matt is a warranty administrator at Rogers Ford and he is excited to be onstage for a musical after a two year hiatus. Reading books, listening to music, and writing the world’s shortest cast bio are a few of Matt’s favorite things. Enjoy the show and happy holidays.

ach year, Midland Community Theatre volunteers gather to make wreaths displayed in lobby hallways to help raise money for MCT. Each wreath is available for purchase either as a “buy it now” or through bidding with our silent auction. Please consider purchasing a wreath (or two!) to help support YOUR community theatre.

The quilts on display are from the Caprock Art Quilters SAQA Circle.

The Caprock Art Quilters is a fiber artist networking group for Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) members living in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Their current Texas members reside in Amarillo, Lubbock, Levelland, Midland, Odessa, Olton, Plainview, San Angelo, Stanton, Sweetwater and Wolfforth. New Mexico members are from Carlsbad, Clovis, and Portales. We are grateful to them for allowing us to display their works of art for the holiday season!

Lisa Barnett| Mother Abbess

Lisa is thrilled to be back on stage at MCT. Audiences may remember her from productions like Sweeney Todd, Evita, Les Miserables, and most recently as Mrs. Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Lisa is currently serving as the minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Midland. Lisa is wife to Tim and Mom to Zach.

Kristi Phillips| Sister Berthe

Kristi is excited to be back onstage for her fifth production with MCT. Kristi returned to theatre two years ago after taking a hiatus to raise her two girls. You may recognize her from A Christmas Carol, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Summer Mummers, and most recently, Rumors. A few of Kristi’s favorite things include her family, performing, and salty snacks.

Alicia Stoffers| Sister Margaretta

This is Alicia’s third show in her debut season at MCT. You may have seen her as Grandma Georgina in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Constance Sacks in Rock of Ages. When not performing, Alicia loves cheering on her kiddos and singing at church. Alicia thanks her family for making this dream come true possible.

Emily Hatch| Sister Sophia

Emily is from Weatherford, Texas and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a BFA in Musical Theatre. You may have seen Emily in Basin Theatre Work’s production of Spongebob: The Musical. She also enjoyed playing in Anything Goes and The Secret Garden at HSU. Emily’s cats, dogs and supportive fiancé are a few of her favorite things.

Carmina Aguilar| Sister Catherine

Carmina is a native Midlander who has been volunteering at MCT since 2009. You may recognize her from shows like West Side Story and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way To The Forum. She is excited to be on the MCT stage once again. Carmina spends her weekends helping her family by decorating cakes at Tony’s Old Fashion Bakery, a Midland staple since 1994. She hopes you enjoy the show!

Julie Wood| Sister Agnes

Julie is excited to be making her MCT stage debut though she is no stranger to the stage. Julie has been singing with West Texas Symphony Chorale for two years and has served at First Baptist Church choir and worship since 2016. She is deeply grateful to her husband, Dr. Darin Wood, and son, Josh, for their encouragement, support, and unfailing love.

Susie Anderson| Franz

Susie is (finally!) a retired nurse anesthetist after many years. Though rarely onstage, Susie and her family have been involved at MCT since husband, Drew played Melvin P. Thorpe in the inaugural production of Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1983). Her children, Danny and Abby were Pickwick Players and grew up onstage. The Sound of Music was Susie’s introduction to musical theatre and she’s thrilled to have the opportunity to sing this beautiful music!

Kaitlyn Klattenhoff| Sister Teresa

Kaitlyn is a Special Education Resource teacher. After graduating from TTU and attending graduate school at UTMB, Kaitlyn returned to act or serve as stage manager and ASM in several MCT productions. A few of her favorite things include her Aussie Ringo, her family, and her best pal Hannah. She is excited to be back onstage with her fellow actors!

Jenny Stubbs| Sister Mary

Jenny graduated Summa Cum Laude from Eastern New Mexico University with a BFA in Musical Theatre in 2002. She married her awesome husband, Brian in 2003. They have two wonderful boys that are very active in school and Boy Scouts. Jenny is excited to get back to her musical roots. Family, book club, and cooking are a few of Jenny’s favorite things.

Devon Murphy| Sister Monical

Devon Murphy is excited to be making her theatrical debut on the MCT stage. When not on stage, you can find Devon at Target or Barnes & Noble. A few of her favorite things include the satisfaction of creating an excellent playlist, traveling, and discovering new places with her favorite person on this earth-- her son.

Deida Pressy| Sister Frances

Deida has been volunteering with MCT since 2015. This is her third appearance onstage following The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Rumors. You may also recognize Deida from her 8 years of service on and off stage at Summer Mummers. Being outdoors and with her family are a few of Deida’s favorite things.

Emily Peek| Sister Claire

Emily is excited to be making her MCT debut. Although she is new to acting, Emily has been singing all of her life and studied music at Texas Tech. Emily is a dive coach at COM Aquatics. A few of her favorite things include traveling and her dog Kubbie.

Ana Munoz| Sister Anna

Ana is relatively new at MCT. You may have seen her onstage in A Christmas Carol or volunteering behind the counter. Ana is a mother of two. Her youngest enjoys MCT theatre school and is looking forward to joining Ana onstage. Ana is excited to be seeking her BFA in theatre as well as a phlebotomy certificate. Singing, crocheting, and theatre are a few of her favorite things.

Imani Shaw| Sister Iris

Imani is a sophomore at LHS. She is active in the theatre community as a member of the Pickwick Advisory Committee and regular teacher at MCT’s theatre school program. Imani has participated in 11 shows having most recently been onstage in Leader of The Pack this summer.

She is grateful to God for the opportunity to participate in shows on and off stage. Enjoy the show.

Cast Elijah Rivera| Zeller Elijah is an aspiring actor who has enjoyed his time onstage since making his debut at MCT in 2022. He is also active on and offstage in UTPB's theatre department. Elijah enjoys drawing, gaming, and pretending he knows how to play musical instruments. A few of his favorite things are singing, dancing, and his family.

Kevin Leoffler| Admiral

Kevin is excited to be back on stage after taking nearly a year off. You may recognize Kevin from his role as Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol. A few of his favorite things include cooking, music, and theatre. Kevin is grateful to be sharing the stage with this amazing cast and wishes everyone a Merry Christmas.

Daniel Garrison| Herwegen

Daniel is excited to be returning to the MCT stage for another holiday musical. Daniel is an active Pickwick and you may recognize him from A Christmas Carol, Sense and Sensibility or The Diary of Anne Frank.

When Daniel is not on stage he enjoys listening to music and spending time with his girlfriend.

This prompter is dedicated to the memory of Jim Henry for his longtime support of Midland Community Theatre.

J O H N B R I G G S M E M O R I A L V O L U N T E E R S P O T L I G H T John Briggs was an amazing volunteer and actor who loved MCT. On this page, we honor a current volunteer who has dedicated their time in support of your community theatre.

Featuring...

David Kloesel David began volunteering in 1973 when he became a Pickwick Player and actually served as Pickwick Board President the year MCT broke ground on our current Wadley location. In David’s 50 years of service he has served in every aspect imaginable! A few of David’s fondest memories include working with Marilyn Allen on All My Sons in 1992 and being directed by Tracy Alexander in Knock Knock in 2009. David is currently on the Hamhock board and will become president in 2024. He has also worked with the Globe and Basin Theatre Works in Odessa, taking Side by Side by Sondheim to nationals as the Stage Manager. When asked why he volunteers David says, “I love theatre. I’ve been doing it since I was a kid... They call me and tell me what to do and I do it. It’s always been this way.”

At Trinity School , every student is involved in the arts.

We are tuning up in band, vocalizing in choir, gracing the stage in drama, snapping pictures in photography, throwing pots in art, and - most importantly - coming to know an aesthetic point of view. Our students are well prepared to be appreciative audiences for and stalwart supporters of organizations like the Midland Community Theatre.
