The short answer is that air conditioning systems run on electricity, so naturally there is a cost – just as there is for your dishwasher, freezer or any other household installation.
However, the good news is that with advances in technology, the energy efficiency of air conditioning units is improving all the time, and accordingly running costs are coming down.
It comes down to having the right advice when choosing the best system for your needs. Too underpowered and your system will struggle to meet demand, while oversized units will perform less efficiently than a properly scaled unit and will use more electricity too.

You don’t necessarily need to leave your air conditioning on constantly, but if you decide to do so remember that once the required temperature is achieved, the unit isn’t doing any work to heat or cool, Your air conditioner monitors the room temperature on an ongoing basis, so even if it’s on for 8 hours it won’t be in full operation for all of that time.

Most modern air conditioning systems are heat-pumps which means they are capable of providing both. Multi systems are made up of multiple indoor units running on one outside unit, so for example you can have the bedroom and the lounge running on one outdoor unit (condenser) with a maximum of 11 indoor units to one outdoor unit.
The set back to the above is all indoor units have to be in the same mode ie heating or cooling but the temperature can be adjusted within that mode, for example the lounge will need to be on cooling and so would the bedroom but it can be turned off if there is no need to run the system if the room is not occupied.
The draw back to this system if the outdoor unit fails you lose all the air conditioning that is being run from the multi system and will be more expensive to repair/replace once out of warranty.

If your system breaks down MAC will be there in 48 hours or less.
If your AC system was installed by us and breaks down, we will have a service engineer to you within 48 hours or less, otherwise we supply you with a £50 Amazon voucher.
MAC provides you with temporary heating/cooling if your system can’t be fixed same day.
If an AC system installed by us is faulty and we cannot repair your system same day, we will provide you with temporary heating or cooling until your repair is complete and you system is up and running again.*
