Innermission By logic feat. lucy rose
2
On Logic’s previously released album titled The Incredible True Story, he has a song called “Logic - Innermission feat. Lucy Rose”. The whole album has a space themed vibe and this song is about him finding what his purpose is in life and what he was destined to do. Everytime I listen to this song, it makes me rethink and revalue what I have to do in life to reach the goals I set myself.
Gong Xi Fa Cai By HIGHER BROTHERS I think the beat goes so hard in my opinionm, and when MaSiWei adds his lyrics on the chorus, I can’t help but sing along and start getting hyped. These guys are definitely the best Asian hip-hop group out there. I highly recommend you guys listen to some of their past releases. You won’t be disappointed.
Self Care BY Mac Miller I absolutely love this song, not only because it’s Mac Miller, but because the song itself gives off positive vibes. Although his voice is very chill, the beat of the song makes up for it in every way. The hook is so catchy and the production is so good that I don’t understand how anyone couldn’t like this song.
Fidget spinner by camogod I really enjoy this song because it’s a very energetic beat. It’s a song about the most important invention in human history. Everyone in 2017 had one. A truly iconic tool used by the highest of intellectuals. That invention lead to this masterpiece of a song.
ELECTION SEASON AT MCHS BY RILEY STRONG We are nearing everyone’s favorite time of year, Election Season! This means lots of social activities, free food, and great self-marketing among the candidates. For the candidates, this means hours and hours of work, preparation, and perseverance in order to increase their chances of winning their election. This point in the school year always promises to be interesting. However, there are some key things both candidates and voters should keep in mind during the school election season. It is very easy for students to vote for people that they are friends with or gave them free stuff, even if they don’t necessarily have the qualifications or abilities that the job entails. Here at the Deadline, we encourage all students to keep in mind abilities and merit when they fill out their ballots.
As for candidates, we encourage them to work hard, but to maintain integrity and to follow all campaign week rules and regulations. Candidates are responsible for the trash their campaign produces. This includes food and flyers. Also, we encourage candidates to maintain a high level of respect for one another. Middle College High School is filled with an extensive amount of qualified candidates for any given position in Student Government. So brace yourselves! Campaign week is a very exciting time and it’s coming up fast. Make sure to maintain respect and vote in the best interest of the school. Have fun, be safe, and stay positive. Good luck to all candidates! P.S. Seniors are not allowed to vote. However, candidates can share food with them if they so choose. We will kindly accept the gesture. 33
FRESHMEN INTERVIEW CARLOS ZAMORA What is your favorite food? I know a lot of people don’t like the idea of raw fish, but I love sushi, like I really LOVE sushi. There’s a lot of rolls I like but I really like the dragon roll. The sashimi is alright, but I prefer other stuff on my raw fish.
What is your favorite soda? I don’t really vibe with soda. I like it once in a while, but I prefer juice, it just tastes better in my opinion and doesn’t have that sticky feeling in my mouth after I finish a bottle of coke.
What is your favorite animal? I love all animals, but I have to give it to dogs, especially puppies. I don’t know how you can look at a dog, and say no to it. YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH I LOVE DOGS.
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time? To be honest sleep. I don’t really want to do anything besides sleep. If I had more time, I’d just sleep.
What’s your favorite candy? You haven’t lived until you tried mexican candy. There’s pulparindo, lucas, gansitos, salsaghetti, and my favorite one, the mango lollipops. American candy is nothing compared to Mexican candy man.

What fictional place would you most like to go? I can’t think of any place I’d rather be than here, but like shoot, if I had to be somewhere else, it’d be like Hogwarts or something. Wizards seem cool. I’d be pro at casting spells.

DRAGON FASHION BY Diego Pedraza
As you’ve all noticed, this issue will not be featuring someone’s fire fit, because I feel like something needs to be addressed. One thing I frequently hear among people here at MCHS is that you need to buy from certain brands in order to be fashionable. This is not necessarily the case. A company can produce a piece that may look great, however, just because it’s from that brand doesn’t make it fashionable. Before I debunk that statement, I’m going to state what fashion is. I think there are different connotations for the word “fashion” because the literal definition from Merriam Webster is “the prevailing style during a particular time.” The reason why I mention there’s different connotations is because one person in today’s time might say they’re into fashion which can mean they’re into the latest trends or are interested in how different pieces compliment one another. In my opinion, fashion is an art. It’s a way for a person to express personality and imagination through what one wears. To be fashionable, it’s not a matter of how much it costs. You could spend so little at the thrift store or your local department store and still come out with a super fresh fit. If you’re like me who likes to spend a little more money on some things, that’s cool too. Sometimes, I like to splurge on certain pieces and accessories because I want to rep the brand and what they’re about. But like I said, you can still find stylish stuff for the low and have it making you look like you got fat stacks. Let’s not get it twisted and make it seem like you need to spend tons of money. That’s just wanting to impress people with how much money you have. You can still impress people with how you dress with cheaper alternatives. Just put together something nice with colors that’ll make you pop and stand out among the rest. 5

ED V L O S N U E DEADLIN
Who: Sweet and a little shy, Asha Degree was just a stereotypical nine year old living in Shelby, North Carolina in 2000. In the days leading up to her disappearance, Asha had a basketball game for the youth basketball team she was the pointer for. That basketball game would be the first game of the season that the team lost. Apparently Asha was very torn up about this because she had fouled out. Later that night, she had seemenling gotten over the lost and the family didn’t think much more of it. The next day, Sunday, was an average day for the family. Once Asha’s father, Harold. had come home from work around 12:30 am, he checked on the children to find them both in their beds. This was the last time Asha’s family would see her. What: At 2:30am O’Bryant recalls hearing Asha’s bed squeak, but he didn’t think much of it as he though that she could just be changing sleeping positions. However, at this time, Asha picked up a backpack that she had prepacked with clothing and left her house. Between 3:45-4:15 am a person driving a car and a truck driver saw Asha walking down Highway 18. The person in the car had turned around to see Asha because they thought that it was unusual for a child to be out by themselves at that hour. As they approached her, Asha turned around and ran into the woods and disappeared. The next morning, when Asha’s mother, Iquella, woke up to wake her children she noticed that Asha was gone. Panicked, she checked the entire house and all the family cars and could not find her daughter. Harold suggested that Asha may have gone to her grandma’s

across the street. However, her grandmother had not seen her either. After a week of search the police called off the search for Asha saying “We have never really had that first good, substantial lead.” Evidence: Within the week long search, the police found a shed filled with candy wrappers, Asha’s pencil case, and one of her mickey mouse bows. During this time, Asha’s mother also noticed that many of her favorite clothing pieces her missing from Asha’s closet. In 2004, Asha’s book bag was found wrapped in a plastic bag buried at a construction site. Finally, in 2018 the sheriff department asked for information from the public about two ideas that may have ties to the case. These items are a Dr. Seuss book and a 2000s New Kids on the Block concert shirt. It is unclear to the public how these are connected to the case. Theories: It is clear that Asha willingly left her house by herself. However, it is debated on whether she was abducted or just simply got off track. The most popular theory however, is that she was abducted after leaving her house. Many people point to the fact that Asha’s belongings her scattered in multiple places, almost as though they were being hidden. Witnesses have come forward saying that they saw Asha getting into a dark green early 1970s Lincoln Continental Mark IV with rust around the wheels. However, this information comes 17 years after her disappearance, so some people are unsure about this fact. Also after 19 years, Asha has never been found alive or dead. The lesser believed theory is that she simply got lost and succumbed to nature. The other theory is that Asha ran away. The only evidence suggesting this is that she had said she wanted to go on an adventure like the ones she read and school. She also had been sad about the basketball game, so maybe she left to have an adventure and get away from her team. Today, Asha would be almost 29 years old. Her family still holds out hope that she is alive and they still put up photos in their house of what she may look like today.
STAFF INTERVIEW: MRS. LANGONE What do you enjoy about working as a teacher at MCHS? I love Middle College High School because the students are special. They’re just kind and respectful and a pleasure to have in class, and I also respect the fact that they are interested in college and serious about their education, and that they’re optimistic about their futures. How do you spend your free time? I spend my free time gardening because I have a community garden, and so I love to garden even though I’m still learning how to do it. I also spend my free time with my family because I have a large family. What’s your favorite ice cream flavor and why? I would say strawberry because strawberries remind me of summer. I love summer because I was born in the summer, and I just love the hot weather. I was raised in the Central Valley, and it’s famous for hot summers.
BY JEREMIAH REYNOSE
If you were to go to any other country, what other country would it be and why? “Right now, I would want to go to three different counties. I’d want to go to is Austria because I want to go back to the country I was in when I was nine years old. Secondly, I’d want to go to Grenada, a small island in the Caribbean, because that’s where I went to medical school for a very short time, and I want to see if it has changed since I was there. The last country would be the Philippines because it’s a beautiful place. That’s where my grandfather was born, and I’ve never been there before.” What do you enjoy most about teaching? “I enjoy being in the classroom with students and helping them learn, and I love seeing them experience that magical thing that happens when a student understands something, like their “AHA” moment. I love teaching because you can be creative as a teacher, and you’re constantly learning. I also love teaching because it challenges you to be the best you can be.

IDINING WIBY:THNIKAELATHELLOSADRAGONSI What’s up, Dragons! We are nearing the end of our last semester, and with that comes pulling all-nighters to study for finals. In this issue, we are featuring one of the newest and most aesthetic coffee shops in Stockton, Poppy Coffee! Poppy Coffee is located across from Tea Daze and is a quick drive or walk from the Delta Campus. When you enter the coffee shop, you can instantly smell the aroma of the roasted coffee that they use, which is from Old Soul Co. in Sacramento. Their theme is very clean and minimalistic with sleek black chairs, light wooden tables, and a pop of brightness from the mini flower vases. The ambiance of this shop is perfect for a rainy day or a study date with friends. The menu has a nice range of handcrafted coffees and teas. They also offer other drinks like smoothies and Italian sodas. In addition to the variety of beverages, Poppy Coffee has a selection of breakfast pastries and sandwiches to choose from along with your drink. I ordered a hot golden latte with housemade vanilla and caramel syrup, and Karen ordered the “Bowl of Soul” (chamomile tea with soy milk and cinnamon). The golden latte, with it’s very instagrammable foam, was perfectly sweet for my taste but could be a little strong for those who don’t like stronger coffees. Karen said that the “Bowl of Soul” tasted more like soy milk than the tea, but if you do enjoy the light flavor of chamomile, then this drink may be worth trying. This cafe is a little on the pricier side, but for some high-quality, handcrafted drinks, Poppy Coffee is a must-try!

KELLY’S KOOL MOVIES WON’T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR?
Directed by Morgan Neville, Won’t You Be My Neighbor is a biopic about Fred Rogers, the mastermind behind the popular child TV show, Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. The documentary chronicles Mr. Rogers’ journey through life and the conception of his beloved show. What shines the most through this documentary is Fred Rogers’ enormous gift of love and warmth. The feature does a wonderful job at exploring Mr. Rogers’ worldview and how it impacted a whole generation. Despite having a salt of the earth persona, he was exceptionally radical in his approach to child television. Many times throughout his show, he would approach topics such as racism, death, disability, and insecurity- always with a tenderness and guidance appropriate for young minds. One of the strongest themes in his show is acceptance. In one of his most popular songs, he sings, “I hope that you’ll remember even when you’re feeling blue that it’s you I like. It’s you yourself. It’s you.” The documentary forces us to take a look inwards and to examine our own capacity for kindness and love. It’s a film sent out into a polarized world offering a simple solution of love. As for me, I bawled like a baby while watching it. I hope you get the chance to do so as well.
