We offer traditional classroom and online classes as well as certificate programs to meet your individual learning needs.

Intro to Firearms - Buying Your 1st Gun

Feb 12 | 6-8pm | East Campus Room 212

Donnie Rinehart | FREE

Donnie Rinehart, a former City of McCook policeman for 6 years, will share his extensive knowledge of firearms. He will begin the class focusing on Firearm Safety, followed by introducing students to various types of guns. He will share the criteria one should consider when deciding on what type of gun is right for your situation. He will also cover “gun store etiquette”-- what one should do, say and ask when trying to purchase a gun, as well as going over the state and federal requirements of purchasing a gun. The class will conclude with a question-and-answer period. Students must be at least 18 years-old.

Make your Own Air Fresheners

Create a glass bottle air diffuser unique to you by choosing and mixing scents most desirable to you. Add a collection of dried flowers to enhance its appeal. All participants will be able to make and take a couple of small air fresheners, perfect for the car or your desk, or anywhere that needs just a little freshening up.

This class is designed to educate and empower students to use and interact with a wide variety of workout equipment. Drivers Education teaches teens the basic traffic laws, driver awareness, rules of the road and basic motor vehicle operation. This class consists of 20 classroom hours and five hours of drive time. Driving session will be separate from class time. Students must be 14-18 years-old, attend all sessions, have a learner’s permit before class begins and meet all drive requirements in order to obtain the Drive Test Waiver. The Nebraska DMV reserves the right to test anyone at any time. A book will be provided.

Lego SUMO Wrestling

Feb 9-11 | 4-6pm | East Campus 208 | Todd Weimer | $45

Students will explore Sumo Builds and design their own Lego Sumo wrestler. Wrestlers will use the ultrasonic sensor to detect their opponent and the color sensor to stay within the boundaries of the wrestling surface. Wrestlers cannot be wider than a regulation 8.5/11” sheet of paper. Best two out of three will determine the victor. On the last day, a round robin tournament will determine the inaugural MCC Lego Spike Sumo Wrestling Champion.

Dissecting Lab-Skates (Grade 4 and above)

Enhance your knowledge and skills in science and come prepared to dissect a skate (similar to a stingray). Students will be using dissecting tools, so this class is best for grades four and above. Participation fee is $35 which includes the use of one dissection kit, additional student dissection fee is $12. Parent and family participation is encouraged. Class size is limited to 12 students. Intermediate Scratch Programming

Mar 23-25 | 4-6pm | East Campus 212 | Todd Weimer, $45

Following the 321Make Design Process, students will continue their exploration of the Scratch programming language. This intermediate level class starts with students creating three projects following step-by-step instructions. Then they will design two projects using skills they’ve just learned. Finally, they will invent a project—programming and building a virtual pet, character or nature simulation that users can interact with.

Industrial Tools & Trades Foundations

This introductory skills course teaches new tradespeople how to safely and effectively use core industrial tools, measurement instruments and basic shop equipment. Through hands-on, REALbased learning, students build confidence and workplace readiness for maintenance, plant operations and utilities environments.

Electrical & Motor Control Basics for Maintenance Techs

A beginner-friendly introduction to industrial electricity and motor control systems. Students learn circuits, components, test meters and simple control logic while practicing safe troubleshooting methods used in real maintenance scenarios. No prior experience required.

This foundational mechanical course introduces belts, pulleys, bearings, couplings and alignment techniques. Students complete hands-on diagnostic and adjustment tasks that directly translate to reducing common mechanical failures in industrial environments.

Small Engine Repair Basics (Hobbyist Edition)

Learn how to confidently diagnose, repair and maintain the small engines you use every day—lawnmowers, generators, trimmers, snow blowers and more. Jumpstart Your Business Journey

Heartsaver CPR, 1st Aid & AED

Learn the hands-on approach to emergencies, focusing on the skills needed for a first responder. Class includes CPR/AED, first aid for choking (including pediatric emergency first response) and how to manage illness and injuries before help arrives. American Heart Association Certificate is provided upon successful completion of this course. Class will include pediatric instruction for childcare providers.

Basic Life Support Provider (CPR)

Basic Life Support Provider course is designed to teach CPR skills to aid victims of all ages. The use of AED, ventilation with barrier devices and relief of foreign body airway obstructions are taught. This course is relevant for those who provide care to patients in both the hospital and pre-hospital environments. Completion leads to a certification card that is valid for two years.

DOT Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP)

This course is designed to provide material relevant to the DOT Commercial License Permit (CLP). Content includes general knowledge, air brakes and combination vehicles. Our goal is to prepare students to successfully complete the CLP testing.

Endorsement Driver Training

This is an Entry Level Driver Training approved theory course. A theory course must be completed before taking the HAZMAT endorsement class. The course covers rules, regulations and safety practices when hauling hazardous materials. Instructor Will Cleveland has 17 years of law enforcement experience.

Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT)

for CDL Class A or Class B

Register by phone 308-535-3687. Call for class dates. Instruction focuses on fundamental basics needed to become a professional driver. Topics range from basic vehicle operation to whistleblower protection. Labs are hands-on training for the driver, enabling them to conduct a proper pre-trip, en-route and post-trip (DVIR) inspections, proper hooking and unhooking procedures and sliding of tandems and fifth wheels. Behind-the-wheel training is just that. Driver trainees will learn how to maneuver a tractor-trailer around tight corners, make proper lane changes and drive in traffic. They will also learn and become proficient in backing and docking. At the end of this training, an MPCC state certified examiner will administer the necessary CDL Skills tests for the driver trainee to get their CDL license. A major part of all instruction within this program deals with the safety and professionalism of the driver.

Forklift/Scissor Lift/Telehandler /Skid Steer Training

Each year, thousands of injuries related to forklift and warehouse equipment accidents occur in the U.S. As it is a violation of Federal law for anyone UNDER 18 years of age to operate a forklift or for anyone OVER 18 years of age who is not properly trained to do so, this class will OSHA train and qualify students to legally operate a forklift, scissor lift, telehandler and skid steer. A certificate of completion will be offered upon conclusion of the class.

Basics of Knitting

Learn to cast on, knit, purl and bind off as you work to master your first most basic project, a dishcloth! Materials needed - 1 set of US size 7 straight needles and 1 ball of cotton yarn, or supplies can be purchased at time of class.

Learn to Crochet

Learn the basic crochet stitches as you master your tension by making a dishcloth. Bring a “G” hook and 1 ball of cotton yarn, or supplies can be purchased at time of class.

Get to the Basics of Quilting

Wednesdays | Feb 25-Mar 18 | 6-9pm

Have you always wanted to learn how to quilt but did not know where to begin? This 4-week class is just for you. Learn the basics including the “language” of quilting, use of specialized tools, fabric choices and simple construction. There will be several demonstrations with ample time for you to practice what you learn. Simple patterns will be taught so you can continue to finish projects at home that you begin in class.

Supplies needed: sewing machine that does a basic straight stitch, self-healing cutting mat (18” x 24” is a good size), rotary cutter and 6” x 24” quilting ruler. Fabric for the first class will be provided for you to begin practicing. After which you will provide your own. If you need to purchase items directly from the instructor for convenience, email leanndrullinger@gmail.com and supplies will be delivered at the first scheduled class.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider

Students will learn and practice a set of clinical guidelines for the urgent and emergent treatment of life-threatening cardiovascular conditions that will cause or have caused cardiac arrest, using advanced medical procedures, medications and techniques.

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

The Trauma Nursing Core course is a two-day course designed by the Emergency Nurses Association for RNs. It is designed to provide the learner with basic trauma knowledge and psychomotor skills. LPNs, Respiratory Care and Paramedics may attend for CEU’s but will not receive a course completion card or take part in testing. Completion leads to a certification card that is valid for four years. It is required that you review your student manual and complete the eight interactive online modules. Modules must be complete prior to the first day of class or you will not be allowed to proceed. You must bring your student manual to class.

Breathwork Journey

Join John and Jenny Bonta for a somatic Breathwork Journey. This is a great addition to the Beyond Box Breathing course. This experience features specific breathing patterns set to music and sound waves, facilitating active meditation that can induce a dreamlike state. A breathwork journey can be crucial in deepening your healing process and regulating your nervous system. This style of breathwork is not suitable for those with a history or heart disease, seizures, or glaucoma as well as recent surgeries or pregnancy.

This class is for those who are serious about having a more secure retirement. Preparing for retirement is probably the single most important financial challenge you face today! Marc Werkmeister, a Certified Financial Planner, will show you how to make the most of it by teaching you to apply new truths and techniques that will help you prepare for what’s ahead.

Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Course

Classes resume in April 2026

The Basic Rider Course is based on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) curriculum. Riders can get a license and learn essential riding skills in one course. MSF designed the BRC for beginners with no previous riding experience, and it’s also recommended for returning riders. Students are required to complete the MSF eCourse online prior to the class start date. Students can take the eCourse for free and will receive instructions upon full registration.

Driver Education

The Driver Education is an essential first step to learning safe, lifelong driving skills. Driving is one of the first major responsibilities in a teen’s life. Driver Education teaches teens basic traffic laws, driver awareness, rules of the road, and basic motor vehicle operation. This course consists of 20 hours of classroom time and 5 hours of driving time as required by the Nebraska DMV. The class prepares drivers for licensure by awarding a Drive Test Waiver upon satisfactory completion. Minimum student age is 14. This class is intended for entry level drivers ages 14-17. Students must attend all sessions, have a learner’s permit before class begins, and meet all drive requirements in order to obtain the Drive Test Waiver.
