ECONOMIC OUTLOOK Global growth is expected to moderate from 5.9 in 2021 to 4.4 percent in 2022, largely reflecting forecast markdowns in the two largest economies. A revised assumption removing the Build Back Better fiscal policy package from the baseline, earlier withdrawal of monetary accommodation, and continued supply shortages produced a downward 1.2 percentage-points revision for the United States. What does all of this mean for the marketplace?

Experts will discuss how to negotiate with the private equity or venture capitalist investors and focus on the investment agreement, aka the “term sheet.” In a capital negotiation, the outcome of the term sheet should leave the MBE with economic power and total control of the company.

So, what’s all the excitement about? It is literally 24/7 and 365 days of the year. This is the future of supplier diversity. Right Resources. Right Timing. You can experience this live at the 2022 Michigan Minority Procurement Conference (MMPC), August 23–25, 2022 where you can sample the portal and learn how this can benefit your business if you are an MBE or Corporate member. How does this work? Corporate members can identify suppliers to meet their supply chain needs and meet their minority spend by using the portal. MBEs find real opportunities. ONE MMSDC–Matchmaker 365 is seriously working on closing that parity gap by providing opportunities through corporate connections to MBEs, MBEs to micro businesses, and linking MBEs to global opportunities. With more than a decade of corporate energy experience, Carla Walker-Miller started Walker-Miller Energy Services as a solution to a problem. She became the first Black Detroit-based distributor, handling a complete line of major electrical equipment. In 1999, Ms. Walker-Miller began researching the energy market as an independent distributor. After months of talking with clients and potential supplier-partners, Ms. Walker-Miller developed a far-reaching strategy to address the traditional needs of energy suppliers. PRESIDENT’S 18

Though your particular viewpoint may differ from our plan, please know that our staff, consultants, and committee have done our best to create a safe environment, to the fullest extent practicable, for all MMPC attendees, sponsors, staff, and volunteers. We look forward to a great conference!
Over the last few months, we have surveyed our entire constituency, including a follow up survey with our board and Signature Events Committee members this past week. The good news is that our organization is truly representative of the diverse perspectives in our nation. The bad news is that the opinions on how to most safely re-enter can sometimes be diametrically opposed. Approximately 52% of our respondents voted for daily COVID testing protocols, while 48% voted against testing.
MichelleRegards, 19
• Prior to our conference, all attendees must create a VOW account, and upload photo proof of a fully completed vaccine record, OR a negative COVID-19 PCR Test (results will not be accepted before Saturday, August 20th), OR a negative COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (results will not be accepted before Monday, August Find22nd).the VOW link and other details below. No attendees will be permitted to enter without the above. A special pass from VOW will be issued when you check-in on-site, and must be worn to access conference areas in the convention center.
Dear Constituent: First, thank you for your input and patience as we work to design the most impactful and safe conference possible.
ENT’S CORNER
Our event planning experts will continue to monitor federal, state and local public health agency guidelines updates as it often literally changes daily. Based on your input and the best public health guidance, our plan is as follows:
• We have modified our tradeshow floor and changed our meal service to include gourmet box lunches with hot and cold selections each day. The team knows I have a person aversion to boxed lunches, so we assure you these lunches will be fulfilling. Finally, we will have extra sanitation stations throughout the area.
• As an extra layer of safety for those who would like to do so, we are also offering daily on-site testing for those who would like to test daily and limit your daily interactions to those who have tested as well. A special wristband will be provided to those that take this extra precaution. Additional details can be found below.

AUGUST 2325, 2022 EVENT SPONSORS: We are so excited that MMPC will be held in-person this year for the first time in almost three years! Although the conference has been scaled down just a tad to ensure that we are making a concerted effort to put the safety of all of our team and constituents first, we have spared nothing to bring impactful, engaging programming and several opportunities to network and form powerful connections. Some sessions are even provided for free—yes FREE!
