Summer rental season is in full swing! While business heats up, we hope you’re also finding time to enjoy the sunshine—whether it’s a quick getaway, a backyard BBQ, exploring the sights, or simply relaxing with friends and family.
I am filled with excitement about the opportunities and progress awaiting honor to step into the role of Chair for the South Dakota Multi -Housing firsthand the remarkable strength and resilience of our industry.
From June 11–13, the National Apartment Association (NAA) hosted its annual Apartmentalize convention in Las Vegas, NV. Representing our region were Denise Hanzlik (SDMHA), board members Jill Madsen (Bender Midwest Properties), and Todd Tucker (Hunt Companies) as well as other members. They joined peers from across the country to explore innovative solutions, engage with top industry vendors, and discuss shared challenges. NAA continues to support affiliates like SDMHA by keeping us informed, connected, and future-focused.

Sweeping debris from sidewalks and driveways instead of blasting the hose can save 10 gallons of water a minute, according to the Water Education Foundation, a Sacramento-based nonprofit dedicated to outreach regarding water resource issues. Speaking of driveways, if you plan to wash the car as yours, just fill a bucket with soapy water and use a sponge or cloth. Don’t run the hose except for a quick rinse at the end.
