The Westlake Television Broadcast Crew has produced replays and live content for the Scoreboard Video Display in Chaparral Stadium. Having started with relatively simple video for the Stadium video board, the now 24-student crew uses professional-grade equipment along with a strong sense of artistic direction to provide HD content for both the Chaparral Stadium video board and the television broadcast of each Varsity game. Each live broadcast airs Friday evenings on KBVO, over-the-air channel 14.1, Spectrum channel 7, DirectTV channel 51, AT&T U-Verse 7, Google Fiber 8, Grande Communications 18, and DishNetwork 51. This widespread distribution across Central Texas provides students with a unique opportunity to show off their craft to a wide audience of high school football fans. The talented members of the Television Broadcast Crew are selected from the Westlake Technical Entertainment Crew, the technical theatre student organization at Westlake High School. When not broadcasting Westlake Football in the fall, these students can be found working behind the scenes at every Westlake Community Performing Arts Center and Black Box Theater production. FIRST TO ARRIVE, LAST TO LEAVE The TV Broadcast Crew has a larger audience this season, with a unique Eanes ISD partnership with KBVO-TV (sister channel of KXAN-TV) to broadcast Westlake’s football games live on Friday nights. The broadcast will be filmed and produced by the TEC.

WHO WE ARE Originally formed two decades ago as the extracurricular arm of a small technical theatre program, TEC has grown to include more than one hundred members of the Westlake High School student body. It now has a direct impact on nearly every student in the district via its behind-the-scenes technological support through aspects such as lighting, audio, scenery and video.
