Michelle J. Lanteri, Ph.D., is a museum curator and arts writer with a decade of experience ranging from exhibitions, collections, and programs to outreach, grant-writing, and administration. She is committed to reciprocal, accountable collaborations through active listening and local-to-global perspectives. Lanteri is the Head Curator at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center where she leads strategic initiatives to grow relationships between exhibitions, collections, archives, and engagement. She nurtures exhibitions and art commissions with locally and internationally renowned artists and culture bearers and is a member of the collections acquisitions and archives project teams. Lanteri collaborates with her colleagues to create meaningful dialogue and exchange through initiatives like the new Pueblo Pottery Community Project, supported by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and Terra Foundation for American Art grants. Lanteri previously curated exhibitions with acclaimed artists and led the collections acquisitions programs at the Millicent Rogers Museum, as Curator of Collections and Exhibitions, and the New Mexico State University Art Gallery, as Interim Director. She has co-curated exhibitions with the Couse-Sharp Historic Site, Institute of American Indian Arts, Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, and New Mexico State University Museum. Lanteri earned her Ph.D. in Native American Art History from The University of Oklahoma with a Mellon Foundation fellowship. Her writing has been featured in First American Art Magazine, Southwest Contemporary, Museum Anthropology, VENUE: A Digital Journal of the Midwest Art History Society, and El Palacio: The Magazine of the Museum of New Mexico.
