Home Cover Letter Resume Examples of Work LinkedIn Recommendations References Community Involvement Awards Other Career Highlights Letters of Recommendations Dear Recruiter, I have been searching for a job that will allow me to use the experience and education I have gained over the years. I have an undergraduate degree in journalism and a master’s degree from Hodges University in Information Systems Management. In 2010, I was named the Student of the Year for the MIS program. My journalism, marketing, and information technology experience would make me a valuable asset in this type of position. I have spent more than 20 years working in print and digital publishing, working closely with the marketing department throughout my career. I worked for The News-Press for 15 years, serving as a writer, editor, social media editor, and then as digital editor. I was responsible for all the digital products for The News-Press — website, mobile site, app, tablet version and e-edition. My role also involved development and implementation of our social media strategy. I was also responsible for monitoring all digital analytics to determine content strategies. I am experienced at using Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools and Omniture Site Catalyst for analytics. Many projects I’ve led have involved working across departments. I am comfortable working with a variety of key professionals to execute a project. I served as the project leader to implement a new business model for The News-Press, a Gannett newspaper. This involved working with news, circulation, advertising, and marketing as well as our corporate office to improve our content, change our revenue model, and promote it. Here are some highlights of my career at The News-Press that I feel would prove to be valuable for this position: •
I was a manager for more than 12 years and have taken numerous management and leadership courses. I participated in the Gannett Leadership Group and Gannett Mentoring Program.
•
I came up with the idea for a national Hurricane Hub app and served as the project leader to bring the app to market and promote it. It generated more than 150,000 downloads and nearly $50,000 in revenue the first two years.
•
I led a grassroots campaign effort to promote The News-Press' new website. We built a database of more than 100 organizations and clubs in our coverage area. We sent them emails giving them highlights and requesting to speak at their meetings. We identified ambassadors who would go speak to the groups. I spoke to more than half the organizations. The campaign also included billboards, TV spots, full-page print ads in the newspaper and digital advertising.
•
I led a team that increased website page views by nearly 45% and unique visitors more than 50%. I also led major multimedia projects to drive unique visitors, time on site and page views.
•
I was the project manager for three major website redesigns and assisted in two new front-end system replacement projects.
Currently, I have my own consulting company that focuses on digital marketing. I oversee the development and implementation of digital strategies for several companies. This includes enewsletters, website development, social media, blogging, mobile sites, analytics reports, SEO, SEM, digital advertising, and more. I present workshops on these topics and enjoy public speaking. I am very involved in the community as well. I am a member of the board of United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee Counties, the Literacy Council Gulf Coast and I’m president of the Social Media Club of Southwest Florida. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Michelle Hudson

Summary Although August saw an increase over July, September shows a significant decrease in mobile traffic. There was a spike in August after a somewhat steady increase. The decline this month could be attributed to several things. We have been seeing a consistent drop across industries this month and across platforms. The fact that people try in August to get in their last summer vacations and that school starts, could have a negative impact on traffic. About two people a month have been using the mobile site to call you. I wonder if you have been able to track whether they have become clients. If so, we could better tie that information with what we see in your analytics to better determine a rate of return. I would also be curious to see your website traffic to see if your website had a slower month in September like your mobile site did. That would be helpful to know so it’s something you may want to take a look at. We will want to keep an eye on the numbers to make sure we are not in a trend of decreasing page views. This should just be a blip on the radar screen. As season arrives, you should see an increase in the people visiting your website and mobile site as well as reading your blogs.
