Jennifer Burney Research Fields: Africa, global food security, mitigating climate change, program evaluation

Named a National Geographic Emerging Explorer in 2011, Burney is an environmental scientist with involvements in South America and Africa, where she pioneers mechanisms for poverty alleviation and agricultural adaptation.

Tai Ming Cheung Research Fields: China, Chinese and East Asian defense and national security affairs

Cheung directs the UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation, including managing the institute’s Northeast Asia Cooperation Dialogue, a multilateral forum for reducing risks of military conflict in Northeast Asia.

Richard Feinberg Research Fields: Cuba, Latin America, U.S. foreign policy, trade and investment, globalization, democratization

Feinberg influences U.S. foreign policy in Cuba and Latin America, most prominently through serving under the Carter and Clinton administrations. He also is a nonresident senior fellow at Brookings Institution.

McIntosh researches institutions that promote the provision of financial services to micro-entrepreneurs, as well as conducts ongoing projects regarding HIV/ AIDS and schooling in Africa. He co-directs GPS’s Policy Design and Evaluation Lab.

Peter Cowhey Research Fields: U.S. trade policy, foreign policy, communications and information technology

Cowhey became dean of GPS in 2002. Formerly serving as chief of the Federal Communications Commission and senior counselor to the U.S. Trade Representative under the Obama administration, he is a highly sought-after adviser on communications market reform.
