Non-process Building & Revamping of Existing structures, Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi, UAE: 2014 3-Pearl Estidama Award

The project aims at meeting the increased number of children in the region. The project covers the construction of a series of schools including classrooms, laboratories, auditorium, library and other related facilities. Each of these schools has been awarded the two-pearl sustainability rating.

The buildings have increased efficiency of energy usage. Additionally, all materials, equipment and plants used in the construction have complied with the latest sustainability specifications.

All occupied spaces have been studied for high level of acoustics in accordance with ANSI/ASA 12.60 requirements for schools and learning spaces.

The Project has 2 historical firsts: the first ever 3-Pearl Mosque and the first ever 3-Pearl Warehouse.

The project consists of Main Gate House, Common Staff Training, Mosque Building, Sand Blast, Chemical Storage, Spare Parts Warehouse (Two levels), Central Archives, and services.

Extensive energy, well-being and water strategies were used in this award-winning sustainable development including high performance passive envelope strategies, extensive HVAC and Lighting efficiency strategies, high-performance demand-load ventilation, highly efficient water fixtures, sewer and rain water recycling, Energy metering, and Building Management Systems.

ADEK Future Schools, Phase 7, Abu Dhabi: 2018 2-Pearl Estidama Award

The Project is the Le Lycée Libanais Francophone Privé School’s new premises located at Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City in Dubai, under the Meydan development. The school aims to facilitate 1,900 to 2,500 students following the French educational system through various buildings with a maximum allocated Gross Floor Area (GFA) of 35,686.77 m2 and consists of the following; Administration Building (3 levels), Sports Building (2 levels), Cycle 1 Building (1 level), Cycle 2&3 Building (3 levels), Cycle 4 Building (3 levels), Cycle 5 Building (3 levels), Cycle 5 Building (3 levels) and 2x Service Blocks (1 level).

The project aims at meeting the increased number of children in the region. The project covers the construction of a series of schools including classrooms, laboratories, auditorium, library and other related facilities. Each of these schools has been awarded the two-pearl sustainability rating.

The forthcoming expansion has been considered to give higher flexibility in the future. The design must be climate-responsive and energy-efficient with well-shaded open spaces. It should address both elements - operational and structural embodied energy constituting energy-efficient materials.

All occupied spaces have been studied for high level of acoustics in accordance with ANSI/ASA 12.60 requirements for schools and learning spaces.

The buildings have increased efficiency of energy usage. Additionally, all materials, equipment and plants used in the construction have complied with the latest sustainability specifications.

My work was to ensure design complies with acoustic requirements so that all spaces will have high level of acoustic comfort related to speech intelligibility, environmental noise reduction, cross-zones noise reductionn and mechanical systems vibration and noise redcution.

The architectural style is inspired by the gulf desert vernacular.

The Administration Building is a 2 storey building, with approximate built-up area of 3500 m². The building includes office spaces, a canteen, an auditorium, a ladies preayer and public spaces.

The Service City consists of 4 residential buildings, one for Officers, 2 for NOC’s and 1 for Ladies, in addition to a canteen and retail builing, a medical center and services. total area around 12,000 m². In addition, I have coordinated acoustic design to the shooting training range.

Work included design management, plan efficiency, energy and sustainability, and acoustics.

Building is a small post but significant due to its presence in the Cultural District in Saadiyat Island near The Louvre Museum.

The Concept was worked with an ultra modern approach to reflect the modernity spirit of the district.

Total Built Up Area 300 m2 Consists of officers’ quarters, reception and external spaces. Project is awarded 2 Pearl under the Estidama Pearl Building Rating System.

Architecture 18-Story Commercial Building located at Mohammad Bin Zaed City Sector - Z/29/C-127, Abu Dhabi, UAE This is a mixed use building, with a Retail Street two-level Podium and arcades, a residential tower and 3 basements parking.

The elegant arcades will promote social activities with outdoor seating extending the interior of restaurants and cafes of the ground floor. This will greatly contribute to the friendly neighborhood atmosphere intended in the Retail Streets. A lively shopping environment will be brought out by the two commercial floors, in contrast with the more peaceful typical residential floors, whose wavy shape reminds of a slight ripple of breeze.

The beckoning of the main entrance canopy enhances the visibility of the main lobby entrance.

Every effort was made to reduce the energy footprint by studying the shell to minimize load demand.

The building Includes 3 Parking Basements, Services, 2 Podium Floors Comprising Coffee Shops, Restaurants & Shops, 14 Typical Floors of Various Residential Flats (1br, 2br, 3br) Gym, service Roof floor.

Emirates National Schools

14-story Residential Building; located Al Rawda Development, Abu Dhabi, UAE 1 Pearl Project rating the objective was to design warmer, tactile and more modulated architectural in order to create the feeling of home and belonging within the large scale development, the charecter is very residential in nature through the use of building materials, exterior details, shaped surfaces and small openings.

The main concept is to create a dynamic facade for the residential building by adding randomly oriented balconies to diversify the views and rhythm of the façade, while also breaking down the scale and proportion of the building. considering the gulf climate balconies were covered with composite panels with wood exterior finish to create shade and privacy to the residential units.

The major objective of the project was to provide occupants with a healthy environment by following the minimum requierments of Estidama Rating system (1 pearl cetification).

Emirates National Schools projects include 12 schools spread in Abu Dhabi, Mohamed Bin Zayed City and Al Ain in 3 campuses and includes primary and kindegarten and all related schools facilities.

Al Yahad Cultural Club Musanada & Abu Dhabi Sports Council, UAE: 2017 - 2-Pearl Rated ONGOING

The architectural style evoques the trendy modernism adopted by Al Ain Municipality.

Project intent was to create a repeatable design that will enhance the comapny image and provide a basis for further development in a unique and clever setting.

The proposal was to immerse the client in an organic feel and put in relief the company brands and activities.

The model was fully created in Revit Architecture. Special geometry studies resulted in organic wavy roof concept.

Al Yaher Club has a GFA of approximately 7,000 m2. The project includes a covered sports hall, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, kids pools, a prayer room, retails & cafeteria, administration offices, in addition to other facilities. External facilities includes different sports courts, and kids playground, and landscaping.

The goal of the project is to provide The Luxurious 5-Star Hotel having high quality facilities catering to the tourist and visitors of International Convention Centre ultimately capable of serving the community and the country.

The United Arab Emirates University Laboratories is intended to expand the research and development facilitites of the university, especially engineerig and biomedical. The Labs will for an integral part of the campus and will enhance the university’s vision of modernism and technology.

The striped façade focuses on the use of sustainable materials: the aluminum cladding with the tinted double glazing. Not to forget the colors: light grey with touches of offwhite for the aluminum cladding and green for the glass, carefully selected to contribute to making the building integrated with the urban context while having a unique identity at the same time

POLICE AIR BASE (2010)

Police Air Wing base in Western Region. Building Total Built Up Area 9233 m2 Consists of Administration Block, Maintenance, Four Hangers, Housing & Entertainment Building, a utilities service block, and Helicopter Tarmacs adjacent to existing Jebel Dhana Air strip. Project under design to be rated 2 Pearl under the Estidama Pearl Building Rating System.

The overlay blocks and horizontal spread in balanced and harmonious marks the building as an administrative government building with a security feature The use of simple materials for the façade like stone like finish, epoxy paint and glass gives it a simple and appealing look.

The Main features of the project are 4 buildings by 4 functions at the base: administrative building & maintenance & hangars building & residence building.

The project aims to integrate well into the airbase main concept: clear helicopter paths to wide hangars with right size gate and comfort entrance to keep plane body when plane directed and insert, all hangars are connected directly to the maintenance department by the workshops & mezzanine platform.

And amenities organize the plots into districts, to strengthens the relationship between units and creating vibrant community nodes and streetscapes with parking; all together, the project forms integral part of the center of activity and facilities for users & residents.

The goal of the project is to provide The International convention Center with facilities of high quality The Swaziland Convention Center is a large building, and more so for Izulweni in Swaziland in comparison to the iconic Nguni “ Bee hive “ hut , in which a rounded frame made of poles is covered with thatch bound with platted ropes. Sotho huts , which have pointed detachable roofs on walls of mud and wattle, are found throughout the country.

Improving energy Efficiency of an exiating building in Abu Dhabi

RESULTS SHOW SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT IN CONDUCTION, VENTILATION AND DIRECT SOLAR HEAT GAINS/ LOSSES. THE MAXIMUM LOSS WAS REDUCED FROM 2100 WH/m2 TO 1080 WH/m2. GAINS DUE TO CONDUCTION WERE REDUCED FROM A MAXIMUM IN AUGUST OF AROUND 500 WH/m2 TO AROUND 400 WH/m2. GAINS DUE TO INFILTRATION WERE THE MOST SIGNIFICANT. THEY WERE REDUCED BY A FACTOR OF 75%. DIRECT SOLAR GAINS WERE ALMOST COMPLETELY GONE.
