Light at the end of the tunnel for Sporting?

Apart from one friendly and a couple of matches in the unofficial Red Recruitment Cup over the Christmas and New Year period, there have been no matches involving Bromsgrove Sporting since the FA Trophy match against Coleshill Town on October 31st last year.

However, plans have now been made to finish the Red Recruitment

Cup thanks to a partial easing of the lockdown. Games already played at the Victoria Ground saw Sporting beat Redditch United 3-1 just before

Christmas and draw with Alvechurch 3-3 on Boxing Day. To complete the competition, Sporting will be away to Redditch

United on Saturday, May 22nd at 3pm with Alvechurch hosting Redditch

United on May 29th. Then on Bank Holiday Monday (May 31st), also with a 3pm kick-off, the Rouslers will be away to Alvechurch. Whether fans will be allowed to watch will depend on regulations at the time. As with other leagues, both the Veterans and Ladies teams have had their seasons cancelled but will play out cup competitions. The

Veterans (AKA Over 35s) will play Redditch United on April 4th and

SSS Lions on April 18th, both 10.30 am, at the Victoria Ground with a match away to Springville sandwiched in between on Sunday, April 11th. Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies have just one fixture playing Droitwich Ladies on April 18th at 2pm in the County Cup. Andy Mason It is unlikely that fans will be allowed to watch these matches but updates will be posted on our website and social media pages. Finally, it was with much sadness that the club had to announce the resignation for personal reasons of Andy Mason from his position as assistant to manager Brendan Kelly. Andy has been with the club for six seasons and shared in all the successes during that time. He is not going very far and will be around at matches once football gets underway again.
