01 CORKTOWN STATION TYPOLOGY

Train Station

LOCATION

Corktown, Toronto

YEAR

Winter 2026

Team Members: Michela Di Rienzo and Rafa Tohan Corktown Station rethinks a mobility hub as more than just a space for users to get to their train. This project organizes the station into a series of intersecting and offset volumes, each dedicated to their own program. The rationale breaks down the overall scale of the building, which makes the station easier to navigate and remain comfortable for users. By clearly defining spaces and maintaining visual connections between them, the building becomes an edge instead of a boundary, blurring the lines between interior and exterior. Software: Adobe, Revit, Rhino, Enscape

Residential towers generate consistent pedestrian flow and estabish a nearby user base for the station

Large private developments, such as the data centre, reduce street activation and limit pe destrian engagement along surrounding edges.

DISTILLERY DISTRICT

Adjacent green spaces extend the public realm and create a continuous landscape connection into the site.

The Gardiner Expressway forms a strong infrastructural edge that influences access, noise conditions, and site visibility

Existing retail and mixed-use cor ridors help direct pedestrian movement toward the station

Roof Edge at Curtain Wall A hidden drainage gutter runs along the roof edge of the curtain wall, maintaining perimeter drainage continuity across the entire site.

Curtain Wall at Grade At the base, the curtain wall meets the ground plane directly to create an uninterupted glass to ground transition. A concealed perimeter trench drain wraps each volume, prevent water from wicking into the interior.

Curtain Wall at Overhang The curtain wall at the interior station overhang creates a smooth transition from above grade to the undergroud station. An aluminum plate covers the floor assembly underneath to maintain a clean material palette.

04 STANLEY TERRACE HOUSE TYPOLOGY

Laneway Duplex

LOCATION

66 Stanley Terrace

YEAR

Winter 2025

The laneway house on Stanley Terrace transforms a narrow lot into a thoughtfully designed, spacious home for both residents. Its elongated layout stretches the interior, maximizing usable space and creating a sense of openness despite the site’s constraints. One unit features a terrace overlooking Stanley Park, providing a connection to the landscape, while the other enjoys a private backyard, offering a quiet outdoor retreat. Both units include two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and the design emphasizes functional, flexible living spaces. By balancing privacy, outdoor access, and circulation, the project ensures that each resident experiences comfort and quality of life, making the most of a compact urban site while fostering a sense of home.

YEAR

Winter 2024

Team Members: Michela Di Rienzo, Luca Castellan, Mahin Haynes, Avery Jordan, Violeta Zurita As a design team member for the Toronto Botanical Garden installation, the project features two main structures that guide visitors into the park while subtly highlighting the diversity of vegetation along their path. The installation is integrated with the natural surroundings and includes interactive sections and built-in seating for rest. By combining wayfinding, education, and engagement, the structures create an immersive entry experience that connects visitors to both the landscape and the park’s botanical richness. Software: Adobe, Rhino, Enscape

This high detail drawing taught me how to manipulate graphite by applying the proper pressure and right shade of darkness to create the most amount of realism as possible.

This piece gave me the opportunity to work between expressionism and realism, using subjective colour to alter how the image is read. It helped me sharpen my ability to use colour as an expressive tool.
