Mandibles
The bee’s thorax, or central body, is covered in tiny hairs that help collect pollen as it flies. These hairs are essential for pollination, making the bee’s thorax both the powerhouse for flight and a key part of its role as a pollinator.
The mandibles, or pincers, on a bee’s mouth are versatile tools used for various tasks. Bees use their mandibles to cut and shape wax when building honeycombs, handle food, and even defend the hive by biting intruders.
Legs
Bee legs are not just for walking; they play a crucial role in collecting pollen. Each hind leg has a “pollen basket,” a flattened area surrounded by stiff hairs, where bees pack the pollen they gather while visiting flowers.

The evolution from bee to bee hive was more a conceptual one and the transformation of the initial model was very drastic. Using Smooth and deleting unwanted vertices and edges, the resemblance to the intial object is more in the color and the connection is in the function itself.
The other parts added are the wood parts, the roof and the sign with the metal nail, all the materials are procedurals, except for the sign, where the design was done with a uv mapping of the object.

The transformation from bee to trinket is achieved throught various steps.
Using the final model, the first part of the metamorphosis focused on a manipulation of the original topology, smoothing the geometry and simplifing the initial model with various methods. The second part of the process developed around a manipulation of the elements using sculpting and deleting or moving the edges and the vertexes with constraints, resembling more and more a jewel and flattening the various pieces. In the final part of the manipulation, I focused on connecting the various pieces and making them proportionate to eachother.
To complete the model, the main body was divided and the sharpness of the central part was created thanks to the ‘harden edges’ command.
