HISTORY OF THE RACE / HISTORIE ZÁVODU

The first Course de la Paix was held in 1948, organized by the daily newspapers of the communist parties in the Eastern block and soon became the world‘s biggest amateur cycling race.

První ročník Závodu míru se konal v roce 1948 a byl pořádaný denníky komunistických stran třech států východního bloku. Brzy se stal největším amatérským cyklistickým závodem na světě.

• 1948 – 1951 it was run between Warsaw and Prague • 1952 – 1984 alternating departures and arrivals mainly between 3 capitals (Prague, Berlin, Warsaw) • Its winners such as Olaf Ludwig and Uwe Ampler were among the heroes of the former socialist world • Following the fall of Communism in 1989, the Peace Race was no longer state-sponsored and organizers faced trouble with gathering funds • Since 1993, the race has been organized only in the Czech Republic, with some of the stages being held in Poland and Germany.

Vážení sportovní přátelé,

The another cycling season is here and the Course de la Paix U23 with it. I am happy that Sazka has again joined in the preparations of this prestigious multiple-stage bicycle race as its general partner. In the short period from its renewal in 2013, the Peace Race has become an event known for launching the career of many prominent names in cycling. Competitors who succeed in the Jeseníky Mountains later regularly show up in the WorldTour teams. The event is also part of the UCI Nations’ Cup, a series of the most prestigious races in this age category.

As in the previous years, competitors wear their national jerseys to foster healthy competition among the teams. Twenty-one national teams have confirmed their participation, which promises to deliver a great show for the spectators. This year, the planned routes will be slightly modified. The initial 3.5-kilometre prologue will begin at Masaryk Square in the town of Jeseník. The race newly includes the best climber contests taking place at Přemyslovské mountain saddle and at a two-kilometre climb to Maršíkov hill preceding the longest 11-kilometre climb to Skřítek.

Další cyklistická sezóna je tu a s ní také etapový Závod Míru U23. Jsem velmi rád, že se Sazka jako generální partner zapojila do příprav prestižního etapového závodu, jakým Závod Míru bezpochyby je. Za krátkou dobu od svého obnovení v roce 2013 si stihl vybudovat renomé akce, která rodí budoucí hvězdy. Ten, kdo uspěje v Jeseníkách, se později pravidelně objevuje i v týmech WorldTour. Rovněž je tato akce zařazena do Poháru národů, seriálu nejprestižnějších závodů této věkové kategorie. Závod se jako obvykle také letos jede v národních dresech, což povzbuzuje zdravou týmovou rivalitu. Máme potvrzených jednadvacet národních týmů, takže je jisté, že půjde i divácky o skvělou podívanou.

Letos budou mírně obměněné trasy. Úvodní prolog na 3,4 kilometru bude startovat na Masarykově náměstí v Jeseníku. Nově má závod vrchařskou prémii na Přemyslovském sedle a dvoukilometrový kopec v Maršíkově před nájezdem na nejdelší jedenáctikilometrové stoupání na Skřítek.

Ladies and gentlemen, sportswomen and sportsmen, the Peace Race has a long tradition in the region and I am pleased that it yet again continues this year. It is a prestigious event, which brings top athletes from all over Europe, together with fans of road cycling, to our region.

I would like to pay tribute to all the riders who will take part in this demanding sporting event. The organisers of the race and last but not least the fans too deserve our thanks for a job well done. They all create the unique atmosphere that is typical for the Peace Race.

The Olomouc Region is a proud partner of this event, and a great fan. Every year, the Regional Authority tries to support sports in various ways, with an emphasis on healthy physical activities for children and young people. Maybe in a few years, some of them will also stand on the starting line of the Peace Race and we will root for them, just like today we root for you.

I wish all the participants of the Peace Race that they reach the finish line in the shortest possible time and, above all, in good health. The spectators have a lot to look forward to, and if they want to, they can get on their bikes and head to the Olomouc Region too. They will certainly not regret it.

Vážené dámy a pánové, sportovkyně a sportovci, Závod míru má v regionu dlouhou tradici a mě těší, že bude pokračovat i letos. Jde o prestižní akci, díky které do našeho kraje zamíří špičkoví sportovci z celé Evropy společně s fanoušky silniční cyklistiky.

Rád bych složil poklonu všem jezdcům, kteří se náročného sportovního podniku zúčastní.

Poděkování za skvěle odvedenou práci si zaslouží také organizátoři závodů a v neposlední řadě fanoušci. Ti všichni vytváří jedinečnou atmosféru, která je pro Závod míru typická.

Olomoucký kraj je hrdým partnerem sportovní akce a zároveň i jejím velkým fanouškem. Hejtmanství se každý rok snaží podporovat sport různými způsoby, důraz přitom klade hlavně na zdravý pohyb dětí a mládeže. Možná, že někteří se za pár let také postaví na startovní čáru Závodu míru a stejně jako dnes vám, budeme pak držet palce i jim.

Přeji všem účastníkům Závodu míru, aby v co nejkratším čase, a hlavně ve zdraví úspěšně dorazili do cíle. Diváci se mají na co těšit, a pokud budou chtít, mohou šlápnout do pedálů a vyrazit do Olomouckého kraje také. Určitě nebudou litovat.

I am very glad and it is a great honor that the Municipality of Jeseník can host a world-class cycling event several times already. Cycling is inherent to our region. This is evidenced by the expanding local membership of children and young people in dynamically developing sport. Once again after a year, this prestigious race will allow cycling enthusiasts, as well as other curiosity seekers around the race track, to see live future successful participants in the highest cycling league at the world’s most famous stage races.

jsem velice rád a je to velká čest, že už poněkolikáté může město Jeseník hostit cyklistický závod světového formátu. Cyklistika k našemu regionu neodmyslitelně patří. Důkazem toho je neustále se rozšiřující místní členská základna dětí a mládeže v dynamicky se rozvíjejícím sportu. Bruntál is one of the oldest cities in the Czech Republic. It is officially „The oldest city with municipal rights in the Lands of the Czech Crown”.

The first mention of Bruntál – with acquired city rights – comes from the period around 1213. So it is a city of long and rich history.

Bruntál is a natural center of the region and therefore has a dense network of services and community facilities. It is the town where everybody can exercise their interests and fulfill their needs.

The town has sufficient residential facilities from the near past. Accessible living in connection with a wide offer of shops with essential goods creates conditions for a high-quality live.

Bruntál je jedním z nejstarších měst v České republice. Je oficiálně „nejstarším městem s městskými právy v zemích Koruny české.“ První zmínka o Bruntále s městskými právy pochází z období okolo roku 1213. Bruntál je tedy městem dlouhé a bohaté historie.

Bruntál je přirozeným centrem regionu a disponuje tak hustou sítí služeb a občanské vybavenosti. Je městem, kde každý může uplatnit své zájmy a naplnit své potřeby. In proximity of the town there is situated an important Slezská Harta dam. It represents more and more popular place for water lovers, devotees of waters sports and other activities and at the same time provides considerable space for entrepreneurial activities in the area of services.

Bruntál is the town of opportunities and realization of interests. The environment is ideal for sport activities. It attracts to go cycling to near surroundings, to do hiking, skiing and water sports. Also the town itself has a very mature sport infrastructure, which dominates the renowned modern Wellness Center and a number of other sport facilities.

Even culturally oriented person can be satisfied by means of a high-quality theater cast, a modern double-hall cinema, a number of art galleries and sights. The palace with its adjacent park is the most important and extensive historical monument.

V blízkosti města se nachází významná přehradní nádrž Slezská Harta. Představuje stále vyhledávanější místo pro milovníky vody, vyznavače vodních sportů a dalších aktivit a přitom poskytuje značný prostor pro podnikatelské aktivity v oblasti služeb.

Bruntál je místem příležitostí a naplnění zájmů.

Prostředí přímo vybízí k pohybovým aktivitám.

Láká k výjezdům do blízkého okolí za cyklistikou, turistikou, lyžováním i vodními sporty. Také samotné město má velmi vyspělou sportovní infrastrukturu, jíž dominuje vyhlášené moderní wellness centrum a řada dalších sportovních zařízení.

I kulturně zaměřený člověk si přijde na své prostřednictvím kvalitně obsazovaného divadla, moderního dvousálového kina, řady uměleckých galerií a památek. Nejvýznamnější a nejrozsáhlejší památkou je zámek s přilehlým parkem.

it is an honor for our town to welcome the competitors of Course de la Paix U23 again after a one-year break. In previous years, the race was very well organized and attracted many spectators and enthusiasts of this sport. And not only for that reason, the town Rýmařov decided to financially support this race. I believe and firmly hope that today’s difficult times will allow to organize this race and we will all look forward to quality performances not only of our representatives.

je pro naše město ctí, že může po ročním výpadku opět přivítat závodníky Závodu míru U23. V předchozích letech byl závod velice dobře organizován a přilákal mnoho diváků a nadšenců tohoto sportu.

A nejen proto se zastupitelstvo města Rýmařov rozhodlo finančně podpořit tento závod. Věřím a pevně doufám, že dnešní nelehká doba dovolí tento závod uspořádat a my všichni se budeme těšit na kvalitní výkony nejen našich reprezentantů.

Participation In accordance with article 2.2.003 the number of starting riders per team is restricted to a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6.

The teams may include only riders of MU category (1999 – 2002).

According to article 2.1.005 the race is opened to National teams and mixed teams.

The race is registered in Under23 NCup 2021 calendar.

According to UCI rule 2.14.024 the Nations Cup awards points, but only to nations.

According to article 2.14.025 only the first rider from each nation scores points based on his place in the event.

Accommodation Accommodation with half board is provided and paid by the organiser for entered riders and support staff (6 riders and 4 staff).

Condition for participation: Invitation from the organiser and a valid licence for year 2021. All participants must hold valid passport or other valid personal identification document. It is necessary to respect visa requirements.

3. Participation According to article 2.1.005 of UCI rules the race is opened to National teams and mixed teams. According to article 2.2.003 of UCI rules the number of starting riders per team is set to 4 at minimum and 6 at maximum.

Radio-Tour RADIO-TOUR will be broadcasted on frequency UHF 448,490 MHz. 6. Neutral mechanical assistance For mass start stages the organiser provides 3 neutral mechanical vehicles.

7. Protected area before stages´ finish In case of duly noted fall, puncture or mechanical incident recognized by the referees in the area of last 3 km of stage 1, 2 and 3 with mass start articles 2.6.027 and 2.6.029 will be applied.

Stage 2 is considered as stage with the finish on the top of a hillclimb.

8. Bonifications Bonifications are awarded according to articles 2.6.019 - 2.6.021 as follows: a) Bonifications at the finish of stage 1, 2 and 3: 1st place 10 s 2nd place 6 s 3rd place 4 s b) Bonifications at intermediate sprints: 1st place 3 s 2nd place 2 s 3rd place 1 s 9. Time limit For each stage the time limit is set to 15 % of stage winner´s time.

In exceptional cases only, unpredictable and of force majeure, the commissaires panel may extend the finishing time limits after consultation with the organiser.

In case riders out of time limit are excluded of this time limit by the commissaires, they shall have confiscated the equivalent points awarded to the winner of this stage to their individual general classification by points even if their points total in this classification becomes negative.

10. Classifications The race consists of the following classifications: A) General individual time classification, JERSEY SAZKA Winner of this classification is the rider with lowest sum of times recorded during each stage.

In case of same times in individual classification in final placing, the following criteria shall be applied: 1. – Lower fractions of a second registered during individual time trial (prologue) 2. – better placing in the last stage ridden Leader of this classification obtains the yellow jersey and is required to wear this jersey.

B) Points classification, JERSEY Best of British Cars Points are awarded at the finish of each stage.

Points are awarded for the following placings at the finish: Stages with mass start: 1st – 15th place: 25, 20, 16, 14, 12, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point.

Winner of this classification is the rider with highest sum of points. In case of same points at the finish of the classification, the following criteria shall be applied: 1. – higher number of stage wins 2. – better placing in the general individual classification by time Leader of this classification obtains the blue jersey and is required to wear this jersey.

C) Individual mountains Classification, JERSEY Satum CZECH Consists of mountain primes. Points are awarded for the first 5 riders: 5, 4, 3, 2 a 1 point.

Winner of this classification is the rider with highest sum of points in mountain primes.

In case of same points in the general climber’s classification for more riders, the following criteria shall be applied: 1. higher number of first places in mountain primes 2. better placing in the general individual classification Leader of this classification obtains the green jersey and is required to wear this jersey.

D) Best Czech rider classification, JERSEY Nadace ČEZ (ČEZ fund) Winner of this competition is the best placed Czech rider in the general individual classification by time.

Leader of this classification obtains the white jersey and is required to wear this jersey.

E) Best U21 rider classification JERSEY Prim Winner of this competition is the best placed U21 rider in the general individual classification by time.

He obtains the red jersey and is required to wear this jersey.

F) Team competition The team classification in stage shall be calculated on the basis of the sum of the three best individual times from each team.

In case of same times in team classification in stage the following criteria shall be applied: 1. better sum of places of the first 3 team riders with the best times on the stage 2. better placing of their best rider on the stage classification The team general classification will be calculated on the basis of the sum of the three best individual times from each team in every stages.

In case of the same times in the general team classification, the following shall be applied: 1. higher number of first places in the daily team classification 2. higher number of second places in the daily team classification etc.

If there is still a draw, the teams will be separated by the placing of their best rider in the general individual classification.

Any team reduced to fewer than three riders will be eliminated from the general team classification.

Riders of the leading team in the general team classification are required to wear a distinctive sign provided by the organiser.

11. Doping control Doping control will be carried out according to UCI Antidoping rules.

Awards ceremony According to article 1.2.112 of UCI rules the concerned riders must participate in official ceremonies and must arrive no later than 10 minutes after crossing the finish line.

A) After each stage: - First 3 riders in stage classification - Leader of the general individual classification by time - Leader of the general individual classification by points - Leader of the general mountain classification - The best Czech rider in the general individual classification by time - The most active rider in the stage B) After last stage: - First 3 riders of the general individual classification by time - Winner of the general individual classification by points - Winner of the general mountain classification - The best Czech rider in the general individual classification by time - The most active rider of the race - The winning team of the general team classification with the team manager - The leading team in the Nations´ Cup after Course de la Paix Grand Prix Jeseníky 13. Penalties The UCI penalty scale is the only one applicable.

The rider following next in the relevant classification is required to wear the jersey which is not being worn by the leader of that classification.

B. Start numbers / transponders Each rider receives 2 body numbers, 1 frame number and transponder on the front fork.

The transponder and Radio-tour radio have to be returned to the organiser after the race.

In case of not returning the transponder or Radio-tour radio a fine of 100 € for each not returned equipment will be applied.

C. Signing of starting sheets All riders are required to sign the starting sheet before the start of each stage according to the article 2.3.009. The signing will start 70 minutes before the start of each stage with the mass start. The signing will terminate 10 minutes before the start of each stage.

D. Special time trial bicycles are not permitted.
